Styles is aware that his largest audience so far has been young - often teenage - women. Asked if he spends pressure-filled evenings worried about proving credibility to an older crowd, Styles grows animated. "Who's to say that young girls who like pop music - short for popular, right? - have worse musical taste than a 30-year-old hipster guy? That's not up to you to say. Music is something that's always changing. There's no goal posts."

Young girls like the Beatles. You gonna tell me they're not serious? How can you say young girls don't get it? They're our future. Our future doctors, lawyers, mothers, presidents, they kind of keep the world going. Teenage-girl fans - they don't lie. If they like you, they're there. They don't act 'too cool.' They like you, and they tell you. Which is sick.

Harry actually has a very large fanbase in their twenties and above, including myself. He does have young kids as fans too but most of his fans followed the band from when they were formed in 2010.
I highly recommend "Kiwi"- live on the late late show ( without screaming girls xD )

Harry always says he's proud of his time in 1D. They wrote most of their music (or co-write but everybody co-writes), they performed with live band which was the same 4 guys during the whole their career, so 1D is in fact a ninepiece band. They didn't use backtracks unless for creative purpose but that was a very rare occasion for them because their sound sits in "rock" family of genres. They toured like crazy, 5 tours in 5 years, three of them were arena / stadium world tours completely sold-out. Not just teeny-boppers in the crowd from what I gathered judging by their concert footage.
So I kinda get why Harry praises the time in the band, it made him what he is now, and he's good now. Being that popular he could do anything and he chose to make rock music and his popularity brings the rock genre back to where it belongs - on the radio.

As Harry said for the Rolling Stone..."Who's to say that young girls who like popular music - short for popular right? - have worse musical taste than a 30-year-old hipster guy?" he asked. "That's not up to you to say. Music is something that's always changing. There's no goal posts. Young girls like the Beatles. You gonna tell me they're not serious? He will always get screaming fans because he's damn talented and easy on the eyes. I hate when people just write him off, because you don't care for his type of music. He's always been talented and has a beautiful voice. And I'm not some teeny bopper teenage girl and I never have been. I've been to Fleetwood Mac and Aerosmith concerts, and people scream at those too. They don't just sit silently.

  • @taenosefreckle
    @taenosefreckle 3 ปีที่แล้ว +34

Genuine question. Do people not scream at the rock concerts you’ve been to? I guess I’m confused why the people screaming are being generalized as “teeny boppers” or “teen girls” at Harry’s show. Yes a lot of his fandom is female, but the majority are in their 20’s at this point in his career. It just comes across very condescending and almost misogynistic when you keep referring to these screaming girls. You’re insinuating that young girls don’t know “good” music when that’s a completely subjective discussion. And you don’t need to worry about Harry’s credibility with the general public or older/male crowd. He has fans of all ages, races, gender identities, sexualities, etc. He just won his first Grammy two nights ago so his “teeny bopper” fans haven’t ruined his credibility or mass appeal. Sorry for the rant, it just gets really old hearing this from men making assumptions as a 29 year old woman that adores this man and his music. I really hope you do continue to check out his music and performances. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

I know this post is a year old but just so you know I’m 40 years old and I was there that night, I’m at most of his shows and it’s not all “screaming teenyboppers or teenagers.” Sure, there’s a lot but as Harry himself has mentioned several times, who’s to say they don’t know good music? My daughter grew up watching, listening, and going to 1D shows and guess who was beside her…ME! I respected them as a band and I respect them now as solo artists. They were one of, if not the biggest bands this world has ever seen and hey, you have your opinion and that’s fair, we all have the right to our own opinions but as a music lover I personally don’t think it’s ok to disrespect anyone’s music. You can “not be a fan” and still respect what they did for millions and millions of people all over the world, and that was, they brought US together. I’ve built friendships that will last a lifetime bc of 1D.
Now, HARRY IS THE BIGGEST ARTIST IN THE WORLD RIGHT NOW! Check out his catalog, check out his awards, check out his tours that sell out completely in under 5 minutes. But most importantly, check out what this man does for others! He’s a singer / songwriter, he’s an actor, he’s an activist for so many organizations and he’s a giver. He donates so much of his money to organizations all over the world which you can find on his website. He stands for something great in this world and I promise you, you will not find another performer who is doing it like him.
You’re not a fan of One Direction, I can respect that but please don’t keep discrediting them! That’s the fastest way to lose subscribers and not gain any new ones. I’ve been in the music business my entire life and I know that Harry or any of the past members of that band wouldn’t do it to you.
I wish you nothing but the best, have a great day✨

I take it that this is the first reaction of mine that you have seen then, but n this video I was merely saying that maybe Harry couldn't hear his monitors because of the screaming, and if you do check out my playlists you will see that I have done a tone of Harry/ one direction reactions and have been very respectful, I don't think I was dissing the music in this video, I just meant that early one direction wasn't my thing, I've never said it was crap, I don't understand why people come to the conclusion in this reaction especially, I've got an open mind when it comes to music which is why I named the channel infinite... I'll listen to anything ( well not twangy country) I can't abide cowboy music 😂😂😂

He doesn't mind having teen fans. He's got huge respect to them. There're some of his coomments about the fans that might change the way people look at things. Sometime people are too complacent about what music they choose to like. It's kind of snobbish and I was like that for too long time, I'm getting rid of it now because it's toxic. Once you understand how much hard work goes into creating qiality music, regardless of the genre, you can't help but respect the makers and the result.
You should react to Sledgehammer, for sure. My favourite thing about that video is to read comments saying "i'm in my 40s but I have to admit I liked it" and "The cover is great but what the hell is he wearing" and stuff xD I know many of them are just trolls but it's still fun.
Also, his cover The Chain is good. He's a huge fan of Fleetwood Mac and has a few perfromances with Stevie Nicks. "Stop dragging my heart around" live at 2019 Hall of Fame Ceremony has a good sound quality, so you might want to check this as well.

@@infin8reactions Just to clarify, I'm not saying you're complacent or snobbish in what you choose to like or react to, it was just self-reflection. Little bit of context... Harry was on his first SOLO WORLD TOUR, that's the last song of the last show in LA, he played it 3 times in a row that's why at the end he was exhausted (and after 89 shows and 4 different continents, that was AMAZING). He plays guitar for a lot of his songs (he's not the best, yet, but he has improved A LOT) Let's not call the fans "teeny" because even tho there are many teenage girls and boys who follow him, I could bet the majority of his fanbase range between 25 and 80+ all genders includded, oh and genderless too. Let's open our mind music is a UNIVERSAL language. In my opinion his music leans more to a rock sound, but the industry keeps saying it is not, anyways regardless of the type of music he's put in by others, we should listen to it before stating an opinion of it. I suggest you start with the live session at the Abbey Road studio (I'll leave a link to it) that he did with his band before the launch of his debute album. Great quality and superb performance. The reason I said teeny bopper s is because I only thought of one direction when they came out and all the fans were young lol, never took in to consideration the aging I suppose, my bad lol yes music is universal for sure, you are that when you see the reaction that I recorded for Harry today

    • @AnnaLujza82
      @AnnaLujza82 3 ปีที่แล้ว

@@infin8reactions One more thing you need to consider: when the camera shows the audience, most of the time we only see and hear those who are in the pit, in the front row . And yes, the majority of the audience in the pit are the young fans. Because they enjoy more be part of the crowd, and they want to be as close to the stage as physically possible. Also, becasue the tickets usually cheaper in the pit....
If rarely the camera shows the audience further from the stage, you can see much more variety in age and gender.

Well unless you've actually checked out all of One Direction's music you don't really have the complete picture. With every year they matured and so did their music. Check it out, you'll probably find some songs you like. And just like the boys, they as well as their fans are in their late 20's, plus they had fans much older, the old..."they must be teenyboppers" doesn't really apply. So you're saying people should just sit there being quiet? Fans are going to scream and sing along if they enjoy the music regardless of their age. There are also plenty of guys in his audiences of all ages. Harry supports any fans that like him, and is a multi-millionaire thanks to us. This was the end of the whole tour that's why he did it three times and because it's a fan favorite, and so far the last concert since covid happened.

I am far from a teeny bopper. I am 60 and a fan of his music. I checked him out when I read some where that Stevie Nicks is a fan of his and haven’t looked back. You might like his song Only Angel. Other diehard rock fans have shocked themselves by liking that song. If you listened to early on One Direction small wonder you ripped it apart. It wasn’t until their latter 3 albums where they got more control of their music that they started devolving from their pop music.

If you want to listen him play guitar you can look at his cover of I have a girl crush on bbc1 or since New York on the late late show. Thrice in a row for his last concert of his last tour. For one version alone, you can check the one is has done on the late late show. If you want to hear him at a concert without screams, check his concerts in Japon. In that country, crowds usually don’t shout or sing with the artist... Besides, in this video, I think you can hear a lot of people singing along with him, not only girls crying 😏 and please don’t blame his 1D days. He always express his respect and gratitude from his beginning. Everyone is where they are, thanks to their past. As the queen says: never complain, never explain . Thanks a lot for your reaction. Truth be told I do like Harry's voice. His solo songs Falling and Sign of the Times are good.
    I don't care for this video/audio.
Btw No joke, I am highly allergic to kiwi fruit. Had an anaphylactic reaction that got me a ticket to the emergency room. Not fun.

It seems to me your comments are a bit prejudiced and judgmental. One thing is your personal taste, the other is to classify the quality of the music according to that personal taste and / or the audience that hears it. I stopped being a teenager a long time ago, but my enthusiasm is still the same. For someone who does not like pop, you are certainly very connected to the popular idea that young girls cannot see the difference between good and bad quality.
That said, I liked your reaction and look forward to seeing more.

what’s so wrong w “screaming girls” or having a predominantly female and young audience? does having more young female fans minimize his talent? idk if you realize this but that’s a very misogynistic idea. it perpetuates the fallacy that women can’t think w their heads, only their vaginas. also one more thing, liking rock doesn’t make u any more superior than someone who likes pop. do better, lose the misogyny [whether it is intentional or not doesn’t matter, just lose it] and superiority complex. lastly, he literally asks them to scream, as you can see in this video MULTIPLE TIMES, so ur point that he, as an artist, may not want this is just wrong.

You've taken me well out our context, I've recorded kiwi again this week on the late late show, I have explained why I said what I said on there.
I was not calling girls brainless and thinking with their vaginas at all, that is a highly judgemental assumption by yourself lol
I don't lord myself upon high because I predominantly like rock/ rap at all, (again another assumption by you) I have Bruno Mars and co on my channel 🤣🤣🤣🤣
P.s when you said just lose it, I makes me wanna listen' to Eminem 😁👌

“Lose the Misogyny whether intentional or not”
Oh god... this is the worst kind of reasoning, you know that?
And as a woman, I’ll tell you first off, that young girls can be very impressionable, and boy crazed enough to rally behind singers simply because of their physicality. So can boys with singers like Britney Spears or Miley Cyrus... but today, he’s reacting to Harry. So get off your high horse 🤣🤣
Does this make someone a _misogynist_ just because they make a very sensible observation? Of course not. Let’s pull out a dictionary here:
*Misogynist - a person who dislikes, despises, or is strongly prejudiced against women*
He made a comment about tween girls screaming after Harry... that’s a fact. And as far as liking good music and knowing the difference, isn’t that a matter of opinion anyway? Good or bad music? Yet you flap your gums and cast judgement on someone you don’t know either 😂😂😂
Also... intentional or not? You can’t be a _Misogynist_ if it’s not intentional 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 girl u so smart...
