Thanks for introducing us a new place to us, it looks very special. We realise how extraordinary the world is day by day by watching videos such as yours.
A bit of history, walls was protecting sea salt production fields of Dubrovnik Republic from Ottomans. Dubrovnik Republic was governed by Dukes chosen by people of Republic, Dukes, of course, kept some salt for themselves, wealthy people could by salt on discounted price and poor people of Republic was getting salt for free but most salt was used for trade. Dubrovnik Republic was famous for their trade and fleet of merchant ships sailing all over Mediterranean and further, negotiating and sometimes even buying their independence.
Excellent walking tour, thank you! Historically, the interior of the city walls show how strategic the walls were for the locals' defense. Quite unpretentious town - worth the trip.
You do realize Ston is a City from the Venetian Empire, don't you? Oh, and before you answer something (stupid) The sky blue house on the main road in ston across the plane tree, that would be mine, so keep your knowledge about Ston to yourself. I am from there, Bro. ^^
@@Kivas_Fajo so what. On this area was croats since the 6th century. And where was at that time the venazian? I am too from there ,not from Ston ,but near.
@@AusAmen The entirety of the city is Venetian. All buildings, the walls, the castle, and quite sure they made Solana better. I know we are there for longer time...but today's Ston is from the Venetian era...is all I am saying.
