And Charlotte Brontë said there was no passion in Austen’s novels. Pffft… there is so much emotion and passion bubbling under the surface if you’re clever enough to grasp it. Beautiful montage!!!

Yes, Austen's books are beautiful romances, but it's the Bronte sisters' novels that are outstanding.
charlotte had as reference the romantic literature of the time, which was much more intense than jane austen, as you can see in jane eyre. Austen even ridiculed the English Gothic novel and also any exaggerated emotion of the characters. the films heighten the intensity of the scenes and introduce passionate kissing, helping to make austen even more accepted today. but what do we look for in austen? pleasant stories, without tragedy or great conflicts, that end well, with that controlled and ironic writing in books.Naturally, this would not please Charlotte, who is much more romantic. So, in a way, her criticism wasn't necessarily wrong. Interestingly, Emily Bronte, with the then-rejected Wuthering Heights, and all of Austen's work, survived much better than Charlotte, and probably because of her differentiated proposal regarding the literary context.
So wonderfull I imediately thought of Matthew Macfadyen line when Coulburne said "You bewithed me" so 0:49-0:55 is just perfection!
Such a Jane Austen fan. She told such stories of passion & wonderful characters. Will always be my favorites.

What a beautiful video. Your video confirms what I've been thinking while watching Sanditon Season 3!! It was no easy task to create the Sanditon series with only 11 chapters of Austen's last unfinished book to work with, and have the final product be so good as to easily hold its own very well, and in good company with all of the Jane Austen adaptations of the last 30 years!

A quite beautifully done video and I know you mean well, but Jane Austen never had a character named Alexander Colbourne. He’s a modern tv invention unlike the other characters you’ve depicted here in your video….
Well, if they hadn't killed off Sidney Parker, Charlotte Heywood would probably have ended up with an actual Jane Austen character, as Sidney was in the chapters of "Sanditon" Austen herself wrote.
