- Early Fall Long Island Surf Fishing - BLUEFISH LIMIT with KEEPER STRIPED BASS & FLUKE. Early fall surf fishing in Long Island and the New York City Metro area can be interesting. Anything, everything, and of course nothing can happen on the surf. I am happy so long the water looks like liquid gold. Liquid gold, that's my clear greenish water with a golden sandy backwash. As the season moves on order follows and a rhythm is found. I would certainly say this was a fine day on the surf considering early fall. "The Sea NEVER spoils me and I NEVER take the sea for granted." A limit of bluefish, some small fluke, all the sea robins you can catch and a keeper striped bass. Used lots of jigs, some topwater and the striper took the minnow. Fished some more to the dark for a few more blue. I am sure there be more striped bass on the hour. Have fun out there and we are always happy to share our experiences with all those around the world and hope you enjoyed the video as much as we did making it and remember always - Fish Your Way!
Like your description of "liquid Gold" colored water. Do false Albacore come into your area? Thanks
Yes they do!
Its just a matter of them getting close enough and being there, if they do should be soon
@@MedicRNMike Thanks medicMike!
@@FishYourWay I've fished jones inlet my whole life. Are you familiar with that inlet and do you have any tips on where to go for albacore? I've only been searching for them since last year but have had no luck. I really want to check that species off my bucket list.
They are really just a matter of timing from begging to end. They have to be in the area, then they have to be in casting distance. Sept-Oct are times to look. I bring a few things in case they are about but dont work a whole trip around them ever unless I ran into them the day before, again timing they can be cyclic!
Great video showing why rn is the best time of year to try different stuff. The results can be as varied as your offerings. Tight lines.
You got it thank you for watching and sharing Dan!

Hi Jerry, Looks like the early Fall has kept the fish in your area. You caught all the species available on the L.I. surf. ( Well, almost all.) I hope the Fall season holds up for a few months and we have a good Striper and Blue Fish migration. Thanks for another fun video. Stay safe and good luck, Mickey
So far! Been poking about heard of some good bassing in NJ. I may have seen a weakfish surface too! Thanks as always Mickey

San Diego Jam Knot on that real-time! Nice. Nice football at the end too!👍
Loved the comment thanks leap year!
Some say how aggressive blue fish are, they must not be avid fluke fisherman. IMO, fluke are one of the most aggressive fish species out there. Love them.
Interesting take and make sense at many times! Thanks for sharing the thought!
I don't think many fish around long island are as aggressive or more aggressive than blue fish. But Fluke usually swim up to the bait and sort of sniff it or just put it in its mouth a little and then if you don't get lucky and hook it they will sort of pump the breaks and come back under and violently with lots of speed ambush the bait. Fluke bites are agressive but fluke don't fight all that hard compared to blues.
Good video Jerry ! I was on the cape today lots of albies only one nice bass.
Hi Chuck that sounds exciting! Send em this ways! Thanks much as always chuck!
Love the shot of the Skeeters.....got to pay to play. Top plug action a little slow .....you always liked the tin drag better Fish your way.. be well

@@robertjanko6709 I did fish Denmark years and years back trouts and pikes!
Jerry,, I just cannot believe that you used AND were successful using the diamond jig with no tube or feathered hook
you taught me something,,,,,right there,,
also I was thinking about hitting that Jones Beach field where there is a that long walkway which goes almost to the ocean,,do you know the beach I am talking about
Thanks Steve oh yea they are fine the way they are many time I did a few video with them in the past they have the fields open so you should be good to go Steve
What leader do you use for lures ?
I was using plain 30lb mono this day but will use 50lb if bigger fish were about good question
Fish Your Way Do you use regular 50lb mono or do you use mono leader material ?
I just got into surf casting and want to know a good mono leader to tie to my tactical clips for spoons and lures
The 30lb and 50lb I use is just regular mono, I do like the berkley big game but found stren is just as well, plain mono line
Fish Your Way would it hold up with the blues ?
ill be heading to the inlet trying to pull some last inning fluke. stripers are definitely heading our way cant wait for those water temps to drop a bit
Can never go wrong this time of year there! Hope to hear about the big one CP! let me know how you do
@@FishYourWay sure thing
Tons of shorts again still a nice day out, you weren't kidding about those mosquito lol. guy showed up in a full mosquito suit. dolphins breaching out of the water was enough to make my day
Always is sounds like a good one thanks for sharing CP!
What's your most used lure weight for the metal jigs? Trying to build you up a west coast gift package. We have some long light metal jigs that help with bite offs.
Hey anotherflores! That be awesome! Thanks much! I would say in the 1-2 ounce range 1.5 oz if one size depends on conditions may do 1 ounce light seas and 2 or 2.25 in heavy but 1.5oz is a staple.
Other comment did not show here but I am using 40lb braid with about 3 feet of 30lb leader at the end
@@FishYourWay do you have a public email address I can use to get into contact with you? For the shipping address you want to provided. I actually also plan on sending some reels for service to Dennis at 2nd chance tackle. His based in new Jersey. Heard of him?
@@otroflores91 I hear of mystic reel in NJ he may work for them? The email should be under the contact link the is a hoover if you mouse over it if not let me know I can send a temp msg
Hi Jerry. Love your videos and your love for fishing . What kind of waders do you have ? I have the heavy neoprene kind now but I’m looking for something lighter . Thanks
Hi Ralph, thanks much for watching and commenting. I have been using the frogg togg hellbenders for a few years now in this one I dont think they make them anymore. I use them in the fall when it gets colder I use the aphibs neoprene ones
holy mosquitos!
I liked the one that was right next to the lens the best!
Hi Jerry, another great video! Really enjoyed watching it.
I've had an issue with the diamond jig getting tangled up while casting. The setup is the same with the tactical anglers clip. Any tips would be appreciated. If you could do a video on it, it would be even better. Thanks!
Thanks Doc, I wonder if something is going on with line twist do you use a barrel swivel above that will eliminate many problems?
What kinda line you using? Straight braid or leader.
Thanks for the replies. I am using braid tied straight to the tactical anglers clip. Its resulting in the hook of the diamond jig tangling/twisting with the braid line. Would you suggest otherwise? I would appreciate a video of your setup or even a description would do. Thanks!
@@otroflores91 40lb braid to 3 feet of 30lb mono leader
@@drshaggy1 Ah ok, use a barrel swivel, tie that to your braided line, then do about 3 ft or so of 30lb monofilament leader then tie your clip to that it should solve the issue shaggy
Is this smiths point??
Westward of smiths point
Fish Your Way Thanks man I’m looking for spots that I can catch a really nice blues that’s the one fish that I really want to get really big blues. I just seems wherever I go I can never find any

Fish Your Way yeah seems that way. Hoping it picks up lol

Sinking style minnow
Nice video what beach is that ?
hello good day where is the place where you are fishing
DO ME A FAVOR...
NEXT TIME YOU GO TO THE BEACH,
TAKE A SMALL TUB OF CHICKEN LIVERS. FREEZE THEM OVER NIGHT SO THEY STAY ON THE HOOK AND FILM THE RESULTS.
YOU CAN THANK ME LATER!
BTW: IF YOU DO IT... I'LL EXPLAIN WHY AFTERWARDS.
Oh yea they make some nice bait used to use them for catfish with some chicken cuts and beef blood mix!
@@FishYourWay My whole point was.... FISH THE SURF WITH CHICKEN LIVERS you will not be disappointed! I'll explain if you tag me on the video of you trying it.
