I love that you bring back old cool videos. Sad truth is I love hearing you talk about what your doing and your plans. To me your a teacher, I learn from watching and hearing your ideas/training lesson.
Watching these videos is like going backstage and having the magician show you how he does his tricks. I can't help but get a little nostalgic sometimes because Isaac reminds me a lot of my grandfather who got me into welding in the first place. It's uncanny how I watch Isaac work, and then I'm like...Aha! So THAT'S how Chester did that! And I'll scribble notes in my welding book. I've even paused these videos and catalogued some of his machine settings and tried them out myself and they work pretty good. Even these short videos are a master class in practical field repair.
Watching your videos both the newer stuff as well as these older ones you are sharing, has given me a bit of peace of mind so to speak. As you have said time and again 'This is not how to do it, but how I do it" and I have also learned over the years the saying "it'll hold till it breaks". Like you I have made repairs in ways that an inspector of welds would have cried foul, heck even other welders who have all the best and brightest tools and have tons of experience, and I am not saying they are wrong but when you have to make something work and don't have all the bells and whistles you make do and get it back working and it will hold till it breaks, cause in some cases you can't help how the machine is being used and even the best welder with the best everything won't change the out come of the operators of the equipment.
I just love watching your videos ..its like 3 stages The before ..all mangled and messed up .. The during , where you tear it down to something that it's hard to work out what's going on and what was fitted where . Then the final finished or After .. all welded up all new components in and true and ready for paint and reassembly by the customers fitters or mechanics . And you certainly pick the awkward access jobs .. Always a pleasure to watch you fixing a fubared piece of plant to a better than brand new condition.
I like to see grease when I walk up to a job. Operator is doing all right! Often the business puts pressure on the operators to "Push on, keep it running", and the mechs are told to patch things up "Lost time, lost money". This came out like new!
How the hell does this channel only have 126K Subscribers with the amount of welders. / Machine mechanics in the world. i am neither, but find this work both relaxing to watch and magical at the standard of repair. Being a field mechanic,sometimes I have to patch it up to finish the job. It is very satisfying to be able to fix it properly when there isn’t a crew watching and waiting for you so they can get moving again.😊
Isaac I have commented n several of your posts. I do the same kind of stuff you do. Been doing it probably twice as long as you. Of all the jobs you have posted none I would have hesitated to tackle. This one with all the patching that had already been done on it I don't know if I just didn't have the vision to see how it should look prior to all the cobbling that had been done or maybe I am just getting old but I would have walked away from it and wouldn't have touched it. I am not making light of the repair itself, it was a great job. But the biggest part of the job was removing all the crap off it yet leaving the good stuff you had to to maintain the integrity and have something to work from. A classic case of as you say nothing to do but do it. I applaud your vision to stick with it and make it probably better than new.
You can also see why Isaac changed over to using the carbon rod arc torch (can't think of the name at the moment) to save money on gases and to save time! Mark from Melbourne Australia

That must have been a difficult one just from a point of view of access, very interesting to see how you had to cut it out to get to the point where the insert would fit in place, as always the prep takes far longer than the welding lol Thankyou for sharing Isaac

Wow , This was hard core . I am installing under deck tool boxes on my dump truck , it took me almost a full day just to figure the logistics for a simple job . Thank you Isaac for taking the time to create these video's. You have helped my tremendously and I am sure tens of thousands more .

Isaac I just wanted to let you know that I listen to what you say and I get to watch I taught my older brother about doing with his welder my wielding has improved 100% I built a lawn sprayer it's only 140" wide & I used all scrap metal to build it. You know I've seen people weld a pipe plug into my lawn roller using my Lincoln AC-DC and never burnt through while using a mirror, but the stuff you do you do it no matter what! Thank You

Your skill is undeniable. But after seeing many of your perfect finished jobs In your area there must be a contest to if the operator break something designed not to break.
I worked in the group that designed that machine (after they designed it) for a little while. I got to do a little surgery on the mainframe of one of those, though it was on CAD. LOL. Nice repair! Looks like factory, aside from the weld being laid down by a stick rather than spray transfer from a Axcess 450 machine.
I worked on CAT's new mining truck. Don't remember the model number. I know they made a bigger engine instead of using two like the previous model. Lots of failure analysis on the frame castings. I ran the AC lines. LoL 😂😆
@@lnpipeline3306 I think you may be right. I did not catch a good side or front view to gather details, though the business end of the 7-10 series look quite similar, with the 9 &1055 being nearly identical aside from horsepower, though I'm going from a 14 year old memory. Haha.

ALL POSITION WELDING FOR THAT JOB, PLUS, REMOVING ALL OF THAT "OTHER WELDER'S WORK," JUST TO GET TO THE MAIN WELDS THAT WERE FACTORY......GOOD TORCH WORK, TOO!!
I'm a welder currently stationed down at the South Pole for the winter over (remember south of the equator everything is backwards)...interesting thing is that the MIG machine they have for me down here is the Miller 350P like yours and a Dynasty TIG welder like yours (only heard you talk about it, never seen it in your vids).
My Dynasty 350 had a circuit board go bad so Its parked on the shelf at the moment. I've been using my old Miller Econotig in its place but its rather small.
@@ICWeld this one has a couple of erratic issues but I'll try giving it an update before I judge it. Does yours have an SD slot for updates? My TIG at home in Indiana is an old school Hobart from the 70's (huge machine that takes up way too much room)
It's great to see the digging to find the root cause of faults, then when you put it back together the thought of how to return to factory or better if it was a stupid problem. Looks like pre-instagram you have holes in the knees of your jeans 👍

It always amazes me to see someone cut freehand circles with a torch, and cut chamfers freehand as well.

Nice work! The forces on those rock trenchers are incredible, and it is also cool how the cabs on some of them raise and lower.
