Originally opened 1946 I believe. It is a Houston institution. As soon as this thing keeping us indoors is over its a place I want to go back to! Edit: they do take cards now. They also provide an ATM with no fee.

But I have a question: if you're both wearing coats, and Colleen is wearing a fur hat, why on earth do you hate the seat warmers? I would think it would feel blissfully comfortable, even in Houston, if it's cold enough for coats and hats.

Oh Mark that looks soooo good. We have a place here in Atlanta similar to that, the name is Matthew's Cafeteria. It's actually a little northeast of Atlanta in Tucker, Georgia. If you're ever in the Atlanta area you should try it. It's truly southern home style cooking.
Not fair, not fair. You're making me hungry. Let me tell you about The Carriage Cafe. on Fallbrook right close to the racetrack. If you like cfc they have the biggest I've ever seen. I like the grilled chicken with rum sauce. You won't be disappointed.
