that looks so cool. i’m trying to get my hands on some gibson tractors which were made in the 40’s and early 50’s and i think the pow’r pup build designs were influenced a lot by the gibson tractors. they looked a lot like this. i guess you can still find the plans online but it would probably be more difficult to find the parts. it’s like studabaker and a couple other 40’s vehicles. the gibson clutch is like these pullies and belts and when you push the clutch it loosens the belts and the housing around the pulleys stops them from turning because instead of being stretched out long they are loose so they are wide and the light friction holds them in place. real simple engineering of the time period. they needed more friction to pull the machine so they added more belts and pulleys like four of them and that’s the clutch. i don’t know how it is in the pup plans but you can find the free pdf online.
that is nice tractor,i have build my tractor and finished in 10 days, good videos you have, greetings from Croatia..
Any links
I just was looking at your posting about a "power pup" homemade garden tractor. The plans for the power pup tractor was First published in the August 1961 Science and Mechanics. It was not popular mechanics. And why do I know this. I have a copy of the Aug 1961 magazine, and a full set of plans that my father sent away for. Back in 1964. There are two copies of the magazine on Ebay today(6/15/2014) Back in the 64' the plans were $3.00 a sheet. A small point I'm sure, your tractor is a fine example of what can be done by someone working in his garage. Hope you don't mind this small correction. thanx's and good luck with your restoration!

Could you send me copies of plans?
That’s really cool I had one very similar but it used David Bradley parts .
Someone else did some great work.Lucky find.
Very good. This takes time and effort not to mention finding the parts so a working copy is a work of art. In the early Sixties there were junked 30s-50s vehicles around. What of today's junkers do you substitute for the specified transmissions\steering\brake components? I am sure there are numerous options.
Fantastic project
Darn, I was looking at this because it sounded cool and doable, but as soon as you mentioned crosley parts there went that idea. I'd have to come up with different more available parts.
Who is going to drop into this and dislike. This is now restored.
Look up home built tractors and there are plans for about half a dozen online. A four speed and a rear end from a mini truck would be good.
Very cool ! hope you got it finished
+Stan Stuben: I sold this tractor a number of years ago.. I even believe it has changed hands a couple of times since I sold it.
Built 3 of them, wore them out pushing snow and dirt...they were tough, powered by twin cyl Wisconsin baler engines..
What type of clutch system did it have?
Bravo biutiful LIKE 👍👍👍
nice . can't wait to see the progress.
That is a cool machine you found! Did you decide to keep it? It sparked a lot of interest on youtube. It is amazing how many views it got.
I really like the powr' pups. You should get a Wisconsin engine with a crank start and electric start/starter generator start too
Sure would like to see how this turned out
Electric power. Get a dif. Add an electric motor. Add 36v. Reverse the motor for brakes.
Do you have any POC on this ?
Very cool!
You know, this really reminds me of Mpudi's kart in "Gods Must Be Crazy", the one being used to tow back the Land Rover after it's been "hung to dry". I wonder if there's some weird connection.
I also saw that !! Now,wheres my Coke bottle ?
Sweet project
DO YOU KNOW THE TYPE OF GEAR BOX USED ON THE POWER PUP OR DO YOU KNOW OF A SITE THAT HAS PARTS LISTS OR ORIGINAL PLANS?
Did you get any chance to document about this gearbox, transmission, differential, frame measurements, steering module etc..?
have you tried making a dozer or some heavy machines?
Cool. "Shift on the fly" the key would be a clean release at the clutch. What is the gearcase between transmission and rear axle? This thing would make a Cub Cadet jealous
Seriously cool have you completed any more to it I would like to see what you have done so far. After seein ghis im goin to attempt building one of my own
I would probably do a tensioning clutch were you have a belt and u put pressure on it to tighten it from the motor to the transmission
nice you can do a nice project!!
Лайк вам из Чечни, мне нравится 👍
Thank you!
VinsRJ а вы не знаете Русского ????
COOL!
The t 92 has no synchronization so no matter your efforts it won't shift while moving.
That’s okay cuz after all it’s a garden tractor
If you can double clutch Crosley cars, why not this?
was this ever done...cant find anymore vids
Hello, this tractor was never finished by me, I was offered stupid money for as it sat in the vid... so I sold it... it went to northern New Jersey and was used as a puller... its been MIA for years now
WHATS THAT FROM THE COLOR LOOKS LIKE MOTOR IN THER BACK FORDWARDS
Say what?
DUDE DID YOU EVER DO ANYTHING WITH THIS POWER PUP ????
Hello, I did not do a thing with it, I ended up selling it for another project.
