@@gajbooks I just beat the game, any self heal relics are a LIFESAVER, especially with kamikze bombs, Tom going multiorbs+kamikaze vombs without healing was the nail in the coffin
@@Callofmuts He didn't go kamikaze bombs though, that enemy just has some on the level. He actually mentioned specifically not taking the kamikaze bomb relic because he knew it would kill him.

Glorious suffering seems so extremely bad, I can't imagine ever using it. You start out at -2 damage and it takes until the third time that you hit the same peg to start getting a benefit, but it's not until the sixth time that you've hit a peg that it's ACTUALLY helping you. Like first hit: -2, second hit: -1 third hit: 0, fourth hit: +1, fifth hit: +2, sixth hit: +3. So you need to hit a peg five times for it to become equal to hitting a peg five times normally. Then on that sixth time you hit a peg you finally deal more damage than normal with a +3. But those +3s have to make up for all the pegs you haven't hit six times yet, which is probably a lot. I just absolutely do not see how it could be good because by the time you've hit every peg six times, it should already be over. It is an upgrade for the bob-orb at least. It's pretty good for that.
There are some relics i can think of that make it kind of good, the ones that make crit and refresh pegs do each others things, then there is the poped corn for heals, and the cape the dose one damage for every two pegs hit to the target.
Yup, it definitely made his build weaker. I could see it working with a few lightning orbs, crit-refresh and extra crit/refresh pegs but even then, there are much better options for a build like that too.
I feel like this is a Tom thing in general that kind of bugs me but I also get it. 9 times out of 10 he'll pick the familiar thing he likes over something new, which I guess is a safe bet but it isn't the most interesting for videos. I'm in so much pain whenever he picks the axe, magic wand and fire wand in Vampire Survivors, I'd literally rather see him use anything but those at this point. Especially when the wands just aren't that good, and I'm pretty sure he has even admitted before that they don't seem strong enough but still insists on picking them almost every time.
It's definitely changed, I think it makes all orbs denser, but a with a much higher attraction than it's original implementation. With the original orb just improving attraction but making no changes to orb density.
Okay, that combination is pretty much perfect. The Magnet orb is basically autoaim. Ideal to hit as many pegs as possible. Normally that would mean you would mistrigger bombs. But you got 2 options to make more bombs. Normally that would have a high risk of miss-navigation. But you have the item that makes you immune to that damage. 30:45 those items do not have correct descriptions at all. Not "every attack has -2/-3", but every ball has -2/-3. Massive difference. 41:30 That fight is way out of whack. Him being that tough is bad enough, but then the stage is also a nightmare. It is like the stage has the end at the bottom and top. And thanks to wierd gravity, skill does not even mater.
Don't know if this has been said, but by the looks the Knight level boss (those lil dudes on a platform) are situated exactly like the enemy team in an old flash game called Raft Wars, could be a little easter egg from the team or pure coincidence!

Yes and no, if Tom understood exactly how Suffer-Ring worked and chose the multi-ball relic he would've easily dealt with it, or if he had better control over himself and kept to a slightly smaller orb count
magnetic relic is ridiculously fun. got my first win with a build sorta similar to this one, but with more bob-orbs, some infernorbs and a relic that increases durability on all pegs. was pumping out just dozens and dozens of bombs per turn, balls ricocheting all across the board, it was great
God a bit of an update to be less annoying but it and the one that lets you stack crit damage (each crib multiplies your damage by 1.3x, so it compounds rather than stacks) are the only ones I will always take 100% of the time. But tbh you get so many relics you could conceivably collect nearly all of them in a single run. I need to try the hard mode 'cause the final boss died in a single 887k attack on my last (3rd) run

Pretty sure what happened at around 19:00 is the pegs being removed by being hit on the left side caused the total orb attraction to become increasingly towards the right resulting in the orb suddenly being pulled over.
Imagine going to fight to protect your castle and you just have to watch in absolute horror as this tiny little goblin throws out like 100 bombs, and after you somehow manage to survive that bs, he hits your mate with the force of a thousand suns by throwing a rock.
It's really sad that the electropegnet is just a death sentence against that bomb stage. It's a really fun relic but that stage seems like it just ends your run if come up against it.
It isn't. He should have just binned the multiball, or thrown it away. I'm also pretty sure it can't kill you if you're max on health, even if you destroy every bomb. But I agree it's terrible game balance. There shouldn't be 'anti-build' stages.

It's bad that there are stages in act three that just make certain builds not viable especially since those builds are so strong in the entire rest of the game. When you make one of those builds you're just gambling that you don't come across the fight that hard counters it.
Curious what "remove all orbs" would end up doing mechanically. Does the game give you a single "pity-orb" or something if your deck size is zero? I can't imagine it just straightup gives you a "well you can never attack again, you lose the game now" move.
I have to say, even with the misplay of taking Glorious Suffering ring and suffering from that tanky boss, that fight that had the red bombs sounds like absolute bullshit. Potential 64 self damage just because you have a certain build? Regardless of magnet being broken as fuck, what's even the play with the map?

Just played my first run of the full release and got a win. Crazy synergies, took every optional boss and had more than a full line of upgrades down the left of the screen.. XD
Dev needs to take a look at the upsidedown map. The black holes seem to have more gravity than the ones in other levels, and the leftmost one seems like it has even more than the other three.
boss move of the game by making bombs, the best strategy, into something negative that kills you. Tom should know that he can skip orbs he doesn't want to use, however.
I feel like the red bomb layout in the 3rd area that killed Tom is specifically to punish magnet users. My first run I went from full down to half hp on that layout because of the magnet, and that's with a cookie, refreshorb and no extra bomb creation

That guy and the fight with the 4 fast shadow guys are pretty overtuned, but it is in early access so there's plenty of opportunity to balance.

mr tom, the waterfall is more like a 50/50 of being good or bad. A lot of the mystery events seem to have a chance of being good or bad.
And if you consider yourself strong enough to fight a boss, it's 100% good since a boss is an orb/upgrade in addition to a choice between two relics.

persist means he can use each orb twice, so he could use his upgraded multiorb 2 turns in a row.
durable is the pegs take multiple hits.
