His soul had travelled between worlds, that's impossible since his soul lived and thought without being in his body, it is implied multiple times that his true nature was always a True Dragon. If you don't know, only True Dragons have the soul capacity to handle several ultimate skills without shattering. Of course outliers do exist like Guy Crimson, Feldway and Dino..
