- Piazza del Duomo (Piazza dei Miracoli) is a masterpiece of the medieval architecture in Pisa, Tuscany, Italy. The Piazza is usually associated with the Leaning Tower of Pisa, located there.
Listed as UNESCO World Heritage Site: "Standing in a large green expanse, Piazza del Duomo houses a group of monuments known the world over. These four masterpieces of medieval architecture - the cathedral, the baptistry, the campanile (the 'Leaning Tower') and the cemetery - had a great influence on monumental art in Italy from the 11th to the 14th century." (quote from whc.unesco.org/en/list/395/)

Thank u so much, very nice :)
This is the first good look I have had of Pisa, excellent footage as usual. Just became the proud owner of a Sony FDR AX53 and have almost learnt how to fly it. Truly excellent 1080 and very little to do in terms of post processing. It means I can wait for a high frame rate 4k camera and not be in any hurry. Only downside is the 50 frame instead of the 60 that I want.
Enjoy your new cam, Steve!
adore your videoes such a lovely background music

THE GREAT SACKING AND THE CATHEDRAL OF PISA
Conquered by the Saracens in 831, at the time of the events narrated (1063) Palermo was still the richest and most populous city in Islamic Sicily. Former seat of the Emirs of the Kalbiti dynasty, Palermo (in Arabic "Balarm") was now administered autonomously by a "qadì" assisted by a local council.
Three years earlier, in 1060, the Norman leader Ruggero I d'Altavilla had landed for the first time in Messina, starting the enterprise that in thirty years would have transformed what remained of the Islamic Emirate of Sicily into the Great County Christian destined to become the Kingdom of Sicily in 1130.
In this context, the Pisans led by Giovanni Orlandi proposed an alliance against the Muslims of Sicily to the young Norman warrior, aiming to make the flourishing Palermo a strategic base for their trade as well as, more avidly, to plunder its wealth. Despite the alliance with Pisa could have accelerated the defeat of the Saracens, Ruggero, probably due to lack of confidence in the Pisans, refused the offer. They therefore decided to launch the attack on Palermo alone in the summer of 1063.
The attack materialized on 18 August, when the Pisan fleet broke the chain that prevented hostile ships from landing in the port of Palermo. Having taken possession of 6 Sicilian boats loaded with booty, the Pisans attacked the port area, also attempting the land occupation of the city starting from the area of the mouth of the Oreto river. Soon after, satisfied with the result of their action, they left Palermo.
The enormity of the looted booty is evident from the fact that, as an epigraph on its walls recalls, the great Cathedral of Pisa known throughout the world for its leaning tower was built thanks to the tenth part of the booty from Palermo. In addition, as evidence of that sacking, various sources mention the griffin of Pisa, the largest medieval Islamic sculpture in metal (bronze) known to scholars.
From which part of italy comes that music?
the music is from the 14th century, but I am not sure from what area. The name of the track is in the description, you can search for more info on the web
@@milosh9k Thanks for your answer.
I'm Tuscan and I find it quite "exotic".

bad audio
Please, change the music.
this music does not fit the video at all.
this is a beautiful 14th century Italian music, in my opinion it fits the video perfectly. It is ok if you do not like it, there is no music in the world that is liked by all.
