+NWEpic There seems to be a concerted effort in the US scene to ignore KoF. It seems to me that Wizard just wanted an excuse to take KoF off the main stage (despite it being so hype every year). Everyone used to blame the netcode for KoF not being as popular, but we know the reason now - it has a MUCH higher learning curve, and tournament holders would rather have the "easy" games that have more players. Regardless of which game is the best (and that's clearly KoF XIII).
Too much karate, flame and kim for me, at least last year had at most 3 who use it and there was a story behind it (rise of tokido) don't get me wrong this was still fun to watch but a step down compared the the past 3 evo top 8's 2013 was imo the best.
The stage at 11:00 is EX Iori Stage. He is a DLC character that comes with that stage, I am pretty sure. The steam version of KOF 13 comes with all the DLC unlocked at purchase.

ok so i just got this game. my first time ever playing kof, i grew up playing mk. how fucked am i on this? also is iori the best/cheapest person in the game? everyone in the tournament used him it seems. the only characters i know are from the fatal fury movie, so Andy, Terry, Joe, and Mai. are they any good?
+HefeP Andy is pretty good.. Terry is decent, quite easy to start with him, frame traps is his bread and butter. Joe is kinda good... But it's hard to use him with full potention, when other characters can do the same damage, and more easy. Mai is... Well i would say she is some kind of "zoner character", she tries to catch mistakes of opponents, she has bad close anti airs, i mean not something as easy as with Daimon for example, when his hands and legs catch everything in the air.. Her hop is also not as short, compared to the others ones, so high-low mixups are worse.(Air game is good though.) Check this wiki wiki.shoryuken.com/The_King_of_Fighters_XIII for information, sometimes if you scroll all the way down, you will see additional tips. You can check Juicebox FGC, for tutorials. Have fun.
Hops. Tons of hops. Just rush down your opponent. As you progress and play better players you will notice some of the hop setup is not safe and play more of a zoning game. EX Iori is not really cheap but is he is an overall character. Dps, projectiles, rekkas, command throw and even a crossup kick. He can move in and out very quick with back dash back b. Learn combos that start with quick low pokes. You can leave the more damaging combos and bc cancel combos for later. Its best to put a grappler and a projectile character in a beginners team. It will train your command throw setup for other characters as well. K, clark plus your favorite character is a pretty good setup.

I went from mapping special to a button to one hit kill combos. 10 lose streak to 17 win streak. This version of kof uses frame data so you're covered on whats moves are safe and punishable.
