    Good afternoon Craig, you have amazing works that I want to look at endlessly. I work in a similar technique, but there is not much space and freedom in my work. I hope to learn this from you by watching your ceramics.

    I love the way you shared your playful sketches and how they lead to your ceramics

    I always enjoy the multiple planes of your vessel forms as if they are companion paintings in conversation. So, alas! Now these must each be a soliloquy! So, so lovely!!!! So evocative and inspiring.

    So happy to meet someone "not rectangular"! A painting in volume. marks, irregularity...I'm an engraver and your work is very inspiring. Thanks.

    This is amazing! Thank you for inspiration and new methods to work with clay! It’s really rare to find an artist who is generously sharing his working and creating methods online. I had a lot of thoughts and ideas while watching this! Bless you 🙏

    I find these pieces very interesting and I would fill my house with them if my house was more contemporary. My place is a cowboy inspired ranch and would love to see some I may use.

    Merci du partage la terre est vraiment une matière qui donne beaucoup de liberté a la créativité. Avec beaucoup de contrainte aussi !! Très belles créations !!

    So love your work. You make the process look straightforward but as someone who has previously done pottery making a good slab piece is no mean feet. Very inspiring

      Thank you Nathalie, I’m pleased that you get so much from my videos. I intend to make more but have just broken my wrist which has slowed me down a little. Good luck with your ceramic journey.

    Beautiful!! I'm curious to know how you mount the pieces in the frames. They appear to be floating in the video.

    • @CraigUnderhill7
      @CraigUnderhill7  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      There is a piece of thin plywood glued to the back of the ceramic piece. I can screw into this from the back of the frame and it raises them up a little so they float.

    beautiful work! do you teach in the US anywhere?

    • @CraigUnderhill7
      @CraigUnderhill7  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No I don’t but have had lots of interest in the USA. I wonder if someone could organise a workshop for me in the USA. Some people actually travel from there to do my workshops in the UK so it would make sense for me to go there.

      What is name of material upu used for top mixed media design? Also what were you spraying for the number? What equipment did you use to spray?

    Thanks again for explaining your design ideas and how you work. I wonder what clay you work with?

    • @CraigUnderhill7
      @CraigUnderhill7  ปีที่แล้ว

      Generally I use Earthstone ES40 but I experiment with other clays. I also have a grogged terracotta and a heavily grogged black clay that I use.

    I have been following you on youtube and learning a lot. Curious to know how you make engobe. I would like to come to you one day for a course. Best regards :)

    • @CraigUnderhill7
      @CraigUnderhill7  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’d need more than a few lines on here to explain. Engobe is a mid point between slip and glaze. I like it because it’s not as matte as slip.

  • @harpies45
    @harpies45 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Do you only bisque fire these since they won’t be handled, or do they need to be glaze fired as well?

    • @CraigUnderhill7
      @CraigUnderhill7  ปีที่แล้ว

      They are all fired at least twice. The bisque / glaze firing difference is not something that really matters to me.

  • @juliehamilton5799
    @juliehamilton5799 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Would you sell/ post your glaze pencil ? Love your work

    • @CraigUnderhill7
      @CraigUnderhill7  ปีที่แล้ว

      I use underglaze pencils that I buy and make my own pastels from slip and engobe. I don’t have glaze pencils.

    • @juliehamilton5799
      @juliehamilton5799 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Craig , yes sorry I’m new to clay , I’m a painter usually.. yes the pastel is something I’m interested in if you are happy to make and sell . Julie

    Is “grob” something on the market or is something I can do at home? If I can do at home, is it the collection of what, if I may ask?

    • @CraigUnderhill7
      @CraigUnderhill7  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Grog is the material I use to add texture. There are many different types on the market. They are basically crushed pieces of fired clay. You could make your own. I have done a video on adding grog to the surface to create texture, check out the other videos on my channel.
