    The reason Pulaski's monument (and grave) isn't on Pulaski Square, Oglethorpe's statue isn't on Oglethorpe Square, or General Greene's monument (and grave) isn't on Greene Square is because Bull Street (where the monuments are) is the east/west center of town. They figured that would make for a nice boulevard of heroes sort of deal. Thing is, by the time they got around to putting a monument on a square, it was already named. So it was either have monuments all over the place, rename the pertinent squares, or live with it. I think it gives us character :)
    Edit to add - good video, I really enjoyed it :)

    Troup Square is an Astronomical Mystery to me. Something happened to me there one night. In the Sky .

    You just made me realize I need an iPhone 12 Pro Max! Great Video! I now want to travel here!

      Yeah it’s seriously unreal what this phone can do! And that’s even comparing it the to 11 Pro I came from before it. I made a few videos on the 11 Pro that aren’t posted and they don’t look anywhere near as smooth. The stabilization is ridiculous. Also not to mention I filmed everything in 1080 without HDR(because editing 4k/HDR is a nightmare without a top end computer). Which basically means it can look even better

    Thank you for making these videos. I've had a love affair with Savannah all my life and once lived there while at SCAD. Unfortunately, traveling there is far out of the time and $ budgets, so I have to live vicariously through creators like you. Thank you.

    Not only is this informative but the editing is pretty solid. I like your use of dissolving for transition (a perfect fit). It's full of information for those looking up Savannah. Thumbs up! I didn't know that about Forrest Gump. That movie did a lot of cool stuff with editing.

    Thanks for making this quality video, with so much great info. I look forward to watching various other videos you've produced. Because you obviously care about the facts, I hope you won't mind my correcting something you said that perpetuates a misconception many people easily get confused about John Wesley's having founded the Methodist Church in Savannah. Actually he founded the Methodist Church in England, a number of years after his missionary service in Georgia. All of his ministry in Savannah and Georgia was done as a member of the clergy of the Church of England. In Savannah he was rector of Christ Church - in the original church structure on the same Johnson Square site as the current Christ Church sanctuary! The Wesley quote provided in the historic marker in Reynolds Square you show in the video (11:26) does not clarify when and where Methodism was established. But it also does not claim that Methodist Church was founded in Savannah - only that Wesley said that meetings here helped influence the "rise of Methodism."

    They put signs up for where Eldert and Liberty Squares used to be? We visited several years ago (arriving in Savannah the day The Lady Chablis passed away 😢) and the only thing we found were the ground plaques with squares’ names on them.

    Saw your post on Reddit. Love this video as I love Savannah. It was my vacation destination for may years. It's been a couple of years now but I hope to go back soon.

    nice job. Surprised Mercer house wasn't mentioned on Monterey Square, just because of its relevance to modern-day Savannah as a tourism destination. Locals pronounce Whitefield Square "Whitt-field" - no idea which is the correct annunciation. And yes, the Pink House is fantastic; Loved by locals and visitors alike.

      Thanks for watching! I have some more videos coming. In fact one more is coming out tomorrow about a trip we just had. I have a few more Savannah videos in the works so subscribe if you want to see more :-)
      Also, I agree there are a lot of cool attractions I didn't mention because there are simply so many. I actually have an idea for a "Part 2" where I hit some of the main spots I missed. I might do that later in the spring. Thanks again for your time watching!

    I’m wondering how long it would take to walk to all of the squares in one day 🤷🏼‍♀️

    • @GooseandaGander
      @GooseandaGander  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you're just walking along it's not so bad. You could probably do it pretty easily in 2-3 hours. I filmed almost all of this video in one day over probably 6 hours on foot.
