I had almost a 45 year old memory this morning from this song... I remember my gramma saying, at pow-wow, "Bird, sit still, the eagles are coming," and sure enough they did! I thought they were real. I could never figure out why they didn't come all of the time (I guess some people were visiting LA and did the eagle dance that day). My gramma is gone a long time now, but, this song finds me crying and missing her and where does the time go? Thank you for this lovely memory of a lovely time in my life. Haven’t participated in few years. Useto be my brother is helper during night dances. But he took his journey about 7 years ago with thee creator. Once in great while I listen in and watch.
i always watch it . when i need to remind myself we want the best for everyone out there. i enjoy it when they dance for us on this day, tears alaways fell when hear the songs becuz not only the singers and dancer wanted good life for everyone , thats was always in my mind and heart. so take care and be greatful for everything

I could feel a natural hallucinations watching the wings& listening to the ratles and singing voices. You could see the power as the back eagle flaped it's wings and like a wave ,the others did slightly in procession facing away from it. Now I'm still hearing the eagle crystal & singers after it has ended. Powerful beauty ❤

I am native and I am 14 years old and when my grandma past away when I was 10 or 11 it was heartbreaking for me because she made my Hopi dress for a pageant that I was doing and that was the last dress that she did for me 😭 and now thinks about I know that she looking after me and the dance just reminds me of her and just listening to the song it makes me wanna dance to it

Love the dancers and singers in this video! The synchronicity is incredible! I'm fortunate enough to photograph the National Gathering of American Indian Veterans every year, and one of my favorite aspects of the gathering is the pow wow with the dancing and music! I'm not Native, but I absolutely love learning about the culture especially the music and dances like this one! On a side note, I give a lot of credit and a TON of respect to the singers and dancers on this one! I recently tried a 3 minute round dance and was amazed at how much effort and stamina and endurance was required in such a short and simple dance.

I am English and I feel a hole in my heart, my ancestors traditions and connections to all are lost. All I get is John Farnman and an Australian anthem. I watch Navajo Traditional Teachings, and some things in Navajo culture and mythology look very much the same to mythology and traditions of nearly all peoples indigenous to different parts of Russia, incl ethnic Russians themselves.
America isn't great for weapons and winning wars, but for its Great People like Hopi Nation, Blacks, Latinos, White, Asiatic and all of us the people that form our great Country. My love, respect and admiration to all Nations within America. Hopi was taught by The Kachina to organize themselves and to create a society. It is said by the Hopi that The Kachina came from the stars, and believe me, they're right.
This is such an amazing dance!! We (western society) need more exposure the magnificense of native American, Native Alaskan, First Nations and Indoamerican cultures. Indeed there is such a need to recognize and acknowledge our native brothers and sisters. They are the true "Americans" of this great land mass. You are lucky to have the opportunity to be a part of something so spiritual. I would be honored to be there. I love the pow wows the ground moves with each beat of the drums.
What tribe? My paternal grandfather was Ojibwe from the Swan Creek tribe (it is commonly known as the Swan Creek Black River tribe. I guess the government decided to combine the Swan Creek and Black River tribes together due to them being really close to each other back in the day) and his clan is the Turtle/Bear. His name was Albert Moore and his maternal grandmother was Julia Fisher. Grandpa died in 1981 from heart failure, unfortunately, so I never got a chance to meet him (I was born in 1988). My Uncle told me that grandpa was also the Great Turtle. Sadly, other than what I've been told, I really do not know too much about grandpa since he didn't teach us his language or his customs (we are learning after the fact) due to the trauma that he dealt with from his time in the Boarding School as a young boy. He went to GREAT lengths to hide the fact that he was American Indian from the outside world and I think that he always had a fear that his kids would be taken away and thrown into Boarding Schools, like him and his siblings, despite his kids being half-white. Grandma knew that grandpa was full-blooded Ojibwe and it didn't bother her in the least; however, my grandma was the daughter of immigrants from Denmark and I am not 100% sure if they knew what the government was doing or not. Honestly, she loved and honored that man, bore him seven children, and the two remained married until death parted them...that is all that really matters.

I am native and I am 14 years old and when my grandma past away when I was 10 or 11 it was heartbreaking for me because she made my Hopi dress for a pageant that I was doing and that was the last dress that she did for me 😭 and now thinks about I know that she looking after me and the dance just reminds me of her and just listening to the song it makes me wanna dance to it

Love the dancers and singers in this video! The synchronicity is incredible! I'm fortunate enough to photograph the National Gathering of American Indian Veterans every year, and one of my favorite aspects of the gathering is the pow wow with the dancing and music! I'm not Native, but I absolutely love learning about the culture especially the music and dances like this one! On a side note, I give a lot of credit and a TON of respect to the singers and dancers on this one! I recently tried a 3 minute round dance and was amazed at how much effort and stamina and endurance was required in such a short and simple dance.

Hold on to your roots, here in Australia ours were stripped away. I am English and I feel a hole in my heart, my ancestors traditions and connections to all are lost. All I get is John Farnman and an Australian anthem. Worst part is many White Australians don't even realise what has been taken from our hearts.

Many men in Russia dance eagle dance, too. In different ethnical groups it's so different and performed on different occasions, but everybody always understands it's eagle dance, we can't mistake it for any other. And it always gives energy :)

@@hailoweenhailoween5264 yes, with social media it's becoming easier to learn abt each other:) But it would be very nice to meet live sometimes, Natives of Siberia and the Extreme North have many similar traditions with Native Americans.
I watch Navajo Traditional Teachings, and some things in Navajo culture and mythology look very much the same to mythology and traditions of nearly all peoples indigenous to different parts of Russia, incl ethnic Russians themselves.

Beautiful singing, beautiful dance. I'm from the southernmost part of the American continent yet this music and singing touches me deeply.
America isn't great for weapons and winning wars, but for its Great People like Hopi Nation, Blacks, Latinos, White, Asiatic and all of us the people that form our great Country. My love, respect and admiration to all Nations within America. Hopi was taught by The Kachina to organize themselves and to create a society. It is said by the Hopi that The Kachina came from the stars, and believe me, they're right.

This is such an amazing dance!! We (western society) need more exposure the magnificense of native American, Native Alaskan, First Nations and Indoamerican cultures. Indeed there is such a need to recognize and acknowledge our native brothers and sisters. They are the true "Americans" of this great land mass. In this instance we have our Hopi brothers and sisters share a small piece the vast beauty of their culture. We are grateful! 🦅🦅🦅🦅

So wana go see this I’m ojibwe my Step dad is Navajo he told me about this watching this makes me feel good inside I used to Participate in our ceremonies and powwow a lot but life took me another direction I know our ceremonies and powwows are for healing but that’s where I spent a lot of time with my brothers before they left this world and for me it’s hard to let go when I go there

What tribe? My paternal grandfather was Ojibwe from the Swan Creek tribe (it is commonly known as the Swan Creek Black River tribe. I guess the government decided to combine the Swan Creek and Black River tribes together due to them being really close to each other back in the day) and his clan is the Turtle/Bear. His name was Albert Moore and his maternal grandmother was Julia Fisher. Grandpa died in 1981 from heart failure, unfortunately, so I never got a chance to meet him (I was born in 1988). My Uncle told me that grandpa was also the Great Turtle. Sadly, other than what I've been told, I really do not know too much about grandpa since he didn't teach us his language or his customs (we are learning after the fact) due to the trauma that he dealt with from his time in the Boarding School as a young boy. He went to GREAT lengths to hide the fact that he was American Indian from the outside world and I think that he always had a fear that his kids would be taken away and thrown into Boarding Schools, like him and his siblings, despite his kids being half-white. Grandma knew that grandpa was full-blooded Ojibwe and it didn't bother her in the least; however, my grandma was the daughter of immigrants from Denmark and I am not 100% sure if they knew what the government was doing or not. Honestly, she loved and honored that man, bore him seven children, and the two remained married until death parted them...that is all that really matters.
