Tim is a sub-woofer, you are fine! My great uncle died in WWII aboard the USS Spence during Halsey's Typhoon. I have a copy of the telegram that his mother received saying that he was lost at sea, but he doesn't actually have a grave. My dad was just a little boy, but at 86 years old, he still misses his Uncle Bobby. I always think about him when I listen to this.

One of my favorites of theirs. Love Tim’s lows and loved the echoes. They are so good even with their humming. I’ve seen some of those graveyards: The Navy in San Diego and Arlington. Haven’t been to the beaches at Normandy but hope to someday. Wonderful reaction and I subscribed.

This hauntingly beautiful song, written from the perspective of a dying soldier, could not be better served than with Home Free's gorgeous harmonies and Tim's and Chance's perfect leads. It will always stand as a sensitive portrayal of the pain of loss amidst the devotion of brotherhood.

This is such a beautiful song, but the message makes me cry every time I hear it. I hope you react to their original written by the bass, Tim, called Land of the Free. It is wonderfully uplifting. 🎶🥰

As noted, Mark Knopler of the British band Dire Straits wrote this song. The Finnish a capella group Club For Five arranged it for a capella and graciously allowed Home Free to use their arrangement. Tim Foust, the bass, only added the echoes.

I like Home Free's cover much more than Dire Straight's original! SALUTE

“Brothers in Arms” happens to be one of the most famous songs by the British rock band Dire Straits. The lyrics of “Brothers in Arms” were purely inspired by the Falklands War of 1982.
The Falklands War was a major war between the United Kingdom and Argentina. This war saw both nations fighting over ownership of the Falkland Islands as well as South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands. The war lasted from 2nd April to 14th June, 1982 and claimed the lives of 258 British soldiers.
The events of the war were what inspired the lyrics of this tune, which sees the narrator/singer (Mark Knopfler) singing from the point of view of a severely injured soldier who is about to die on the battlefield. His comrades stay by his side as he prepares to depart the earth. In bidding his fellow soldiers farewell, he tells them not to worry, for “every man has to die”. In his final words, he tells them how foolish “we” are “to make war on our brothers in arms”. By this, he means they should never have fought the opposing soldiers, who he considers their “brothers”. In his eyes, the war was pointless.

Home Free treated this presentation with a high degree of respect, it was very sobering and intentionally dwelling on those who have given all. Also, pointing out the desire for PEACE not war as those fighting are put into harm’s way by those who are making the decisions that take the lives others. Their video was well done, simple but very purposeful in the reflection of those who gave all and reflecting on those still serving. Thank You Home Free!!! ❣

Chris this was a beautiful reaction! The result of adding their voices together is astounding. You weren't kidding about the tissues, me too 🤣 HF are just incredible!
I'd like to make a request. Ren has been very ill again, spent a couple weeks bedbound in the ER and blind in one eye from a relapse and has been having a hard time recovering. An artist named Wynand Fourie from South Africa, who recently began reacting to Ren's music, decided to write a song for Ren. He invited all Renegades to record themselves singing the chorus and he put it all together as a message of love for Ren. It's called Love's Healing and it dropped 2 or 3 days ago and I would love to see you react to it! I think you'd enjoy it! And it did reach Ren and brought him hope 🫶
Wynand Fourie "Love's Healing ft. the Renegades"
    Thank you ❤️

Their singing & harmonies are incomparable (no beatboxing in this one). It's a beautiful song and though this one has an American basis, it applies to anyone who has served any country. Incidentally, Tim and friends do fund raising for at risk veterans, Have tissues handy when you watch "Travellin' Soldier" and "Go Rest High on that Mountain".

the only song of their more emotional than this one , for me, is 'Go Rest High on That Mountain' but I agree 'Traveling Solider' is a good one next. 'How Great Thou Art' is probably a good follow-up to listening to this one.

Dad volunteered for WW2, and landed at Juno Beach on D-Day, 2 days after his B-day. He was only a teenager, as many were. He said D-Day was hell on earth. He used to say that those who saw action during the war, for the most part, never talked about it. It took him decades before he talked about it, and it was only because we asked about it. Dad passed this spring (2024) he was 2 months short of his 99th B-Day, he had hoped to live to be 100. His heart gave out, it had been through a great deal in his lifetime. These young men were "the greatest generation", they had gone through the depression of the '30s and then volunteered to go to war, not knowing if they would return home.

One 'upside' to this HF song is experiencing their signature 'church organ' 5-part harmony. Most of the time Adam Rupp (back row, left) is doing his beatboxing. He also has a pretty tenor voice.
Perhaps you've already received numerous recommendations for additional HF videos. They're so versatile, and have such an extensive catalog of songs, lots from which to pick. If you want particular suggestions, voice your preferences and we'll be happy to oblige.

NEW SUB FROM NORTHWEST OREGON, 14.9 MILES EAST OF PORTLAND. THIS SONG IS NOT A HOME FREE ORIGINAL BUT THEY DO HAVE A PATRIOTIC SONG ORIGINAL CALLED "LAND OF THE FREE". I NOTICED YOU DID MAN OF CONSTANT SORROW. THE SINGER WHO STARTED THE SONG LEFT IN JULY TO PURSUE FAMILY LIFE AND SOLO WORK. AUSTIN WAS REPLACED BY ADAM BELL-BASTEIN, WHICH MEANS THERE IS NOW, THREE MEMBERS NAMED ADAM. THE OTHER TWO IS FOUNDING MEMBER, THE BEATBOXER ADAM RUPP. WHEN HIS BROTHER, CHRIS LEFT IN 2016 HE WAS REPLACED BY ADAM CHANCE THE ONE WHO MADE THE JAW HARP SOUND USING THROAT SINGING TECHNIQUE. NOW THAT THERE ARE THREE WITH THE SAME NAME. TO AVOID CONFUSION, THEY JUST GO BY LAST NAMES. CHECK OUT A DUO GROUP CALLED "ONE UP" WHO AUDITIONED SEASON 15 "THE VOICE" IT CONSISTS OF ADAM BASTEIN AND HIS HUSBAND, JEROME BELL.

While you're planning and saving for that trip to Normandy, experience a visit through the eyes of a young French woman, Marie, who operates the YT channel "FrenchTastic Explorations". Her first channel ("FrenchTastic") began as music reactions, but then a number of her devoted subscribers/supporters/Patrons (mostly American, Canadian, and British) encouraged her to make the trip to Normandy from central France (Tours) and create travel videos. Marie arrived with a textbook understanding of Operation Overlord and was overcome with emotion as she walked through the Cemeteries and realized that all of these men died on the beaches when they were HER age. th-cam.com/video/e_okL0QwKRo/w-d-xo.html Then, earlier this year, Marie returned to Normandy for an 80th anniversary visit: th-cam.com/video/OheD2i_p0Dg/w-d-xo.html

HF's cover is a stunning performance, but you also need to hear Dire Straits' original: th-cam.com/video/jhdFe3evXpk/w-d-xo.html Mark Knopfler wrote "Brothers in Arms" at the time his country was involved in the Falklands war, but his perspective on war is colored by the fact that his grandfathers fought on opposite sides of WWII.
