I’ve lived in 6 states and never even seen a firearm up close or in possession by individuals who are not in law enforcement or security. I only hear about people with weapons. I’ve also walked outside at night even in semi sketch places and only felt uneasy once. Kumbuka media stories especially negative stories spread like fire so Mwaf’s image of the US is probably colored by the negative stories. Granted there are some neighborhoods you don’t venture into and you will hear shots there but there are parts of Nairobi that I would be afraid to go into as well.

lol…have you heard of section 8 subsidized housing? There’s an extensive social welfare system in the US. You cannot be out on the streets in the winter. They’d be picking up dead bodies everywhere.
Most petty crimes in the USA are by choice, folks simply don't want to work anymore. In Kenya, petty crimes are actually caused by poverty. You find decent people forced into scamming just to have a roof or a meal. I believe there's always a choice not to engage in any crime, but I also have never experienced poverty. Kenya is definitely way more dangerous than the USA, unless when it comes to mass shootings. Most dangerous country in Africa is South Africa, that is a fully pledged failed state.
