    Can someone comment on the differences in setup. ac vs heatpump. can a heatpump use either txv or piston. what else to consider.
    Can you mix and match condenser and evap coils. I know you consult on that and I may do that.
    Thanks dave.

    In plumbing when you connect two lines u need coupler in this case at 2:11 you just slipped the connector without any coupler. So question is do we need to expand existing copper line or I can use coupler

    Hi! I have a system that's leaking right at the brass nut connecting liquid line to the txv. Is it a flare fitting?

    • @diyhvacguy
      @diyhvacguy  ปีที่แล้ว +6

      It probably just needs to be torqued. I’ve had a few develop a leak there. I’ve since purchased an adjustable torque wrench. It should have 30ft lbs of pressure on that nut. It’s not a flare, there is a seal in there. And the seal is what seals against the two pipes.

      Can adjust superheat without having to open Evaporator case. Goodman provides a insulated jacket for the txv in their txv kits

      Put it on the inside if it's in a hot attic. My HVAC guy put mine on the outside. Now I'm dealing with a constant rusty pond in my drip tray in the attic. They've tried to insulate it THREE TIMES now, and the insulation just eventually gets wet and falls off. Glad the drip tray is holding up, but worried it will eventually leak onto my ceiling.

      Goodman condensers come with a filter dryer built into the condenser so an additional one would not be a good idea.

    Great helpful video! I have two Goodman CAPF3636A6DB 3-ton coils. Replacing the two 2-Ton Freus condensers bcs they are crap. Can I and my contractor add a Goodman 2-3 Ton TXV to each coil and then replace the two Freus condensers with two 2-ton Goodman condensers? This home is a rental and only 1900 square feet. Even in El Paso, TX 4 tons total should be enough and 6 tons would be overkill. I called Aspen tech support. In my house, also El Paso, the coils have factory installed TXV and the tech said it was no problem to change the 5 ton to a 4 ton condenser and the 3 ton to a 2 ton. 8 tons of cooling would be utter overkill for 2900 square feet. Had I known in 2015 what I know now, I would have never let that company install the current system. I have not had one year that something didn't go wrong with the AC...that is why the Freus cindensers have to go. No problems with any of the other components...thanks in advance. Goodman tech support will not talk to puny homeowners...only licensed professionals 😢
    Would you also recommend installing a hard-start capacitor in my condenser? Based on what I read, this capacitor gives an extra jolt of electricity upon startup to push the refrigerant against higher head pressures that are present with a TXV system.

    • @diyhvacguy
      @diyhvacguy  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes you can purchase the correct size field installed txv and install them in an existing coil. Also I just uploaded a video on hardstart kits. I think they’re a great addition to any condenser new or old. If you need some help or advice, feel free to check out our membership over at Patreon.com/diyhvacguy Cheers
