You say that like you think they didn't fully anticipate players would do this. The ability to chip the boss down over multiple tries makes a "failed" run feel like you accomplished something and allows weaker or unlucky players to actually win. At the same time, it allows stronger players to challenge themselves to win in one go.
I guess making it look like one-shotting the boss was not intended just makes the victory sweeter.

The total damage output of moonfires alone (assuming you don't overfill your hand) comes out to be 2n-1, where 'n' is the number of moonfires accumulated.
Proof by induction:
With a base case of 1 moonfire, only 1 damage is done since the passive doesn't trigger to give another moonfire.
By induction, assume it holds true for up to the nth moonfire.
Because 2n-1 is an odd integer, we can say that there is an extra moonfire at the end of damage output that doesn't pair up with another moonfire. So when we add in 1 more moonfire for the case of the (n+1)th moonfire, we can pair up the remaining moonfire with the (n+1)th moonfire, thereby triggering the passive and creating another moonfire which ends up being another odd one out. We therefore have (2n-1) + 2 damage, which is the 2n+1 damage for the (n+1)th step.
Q.E.D.

I did this last night. Accidentally deleted my Jr. Navigator when I had some kind of integer overflow as its health hit 40 billion or whatnot, on my quest to get enough Divine Spirits to buff all of my minions past unkillable levels. Was fun to see the final boss hit for 300 damage from Gnomeblitterator on the first turn.

My default in solo Hearthstone is scepter of summoning and big minions. My best playthrough ever I had 6 Ysharjj rage unbounds and two big bad archmages, so every round after round 5 I would get a 7-9 cost minion. Didn’t play through one match without having at least three Ysharjjs on the board, it was crazy OP and it took me until turn 8 to kill the final boss.

Ok if the setup is one moonfire in hand and an even number of spells cast so far, you get 3 damage out of each health.
The loop goes as
1. Moonfire girl for one of her hp -> add 2 Moonfires in hand
2. Moonfire enemy, a new one is generated -> still 2 MF in hand
3. Moonfire enemy -> 1 MF in hand
4. Moonfire enemy -> 1 MF is generated again
So now we are at the initial position with one moonfire in hand and an even number of spells cast.
At the end of this you still have a moonfire, so it's actually 3*HP+1 damage. Also if you have an odd number of spells cast and a moonfire in hand, you can send that moonfire face (regenerating itself) to restore the initial conditions I assumed.
*Gets killed before the game even started* Boss: ekhm... [Oh right... I'm dead] *explodes* The others... will... succeed...
Imagine killing a boss before you even fight the boss.

These are the types of fun runs I never get to experience myself because I'm to dumb.
I did the same thing (in my case it ended up being Moonfire + Embalming Potion along with Test Subject, though I did have Jr Navigator in the deck). Getting +2 spell damage on the board at the same time helped immensely; I can only imagine how painful it would've been if I had to cast ~3x as many spells to kill the boss.
Anyone else at the start of all this that was as afraid as me that the immunity of the murloc plague lord would prevent any damage? It would have been so Trump to devote over an hour of his life to a disappointment like that :P
I was also worried. Glad that Blizzard made sure that's not the case though in this scenario.

Nice! I just did something similar to this but had a hell of a time finding a damaging spell to actually win. I had the treasure for -1 to spell costs and rush for all my minions so I could kill everything with infinite reborn, heal/armor infinitely, buff minion health infinitely, get infinite Lightwardens with infinite attack (which almost never survived to use) but no cheap damage or buff or Topsy or even a bloody Leper Gnome to kill over and over. Until the last boss where I used 5 Raven Idols to FINALLY find a Holy Smite. Took a while to get through all that health but I did it! Lol

Don't know if Trump or someone in chat did the math, but I did it anyway. You get exactly 16 damage out of a Jr. Explorer with no spell damage. I broke down the damage below, using two different methods. Dealing the damage as you get new Moonfires, and again as if you just killed the explorer first. The second method is the only way to gain spell damage off of this combo, so I would recommend freeing up 8 hand slots, as that is the max number of Moonfires you'll need to hold. Also, you'll end up with an extra spell cast, so you could go to 17 damage if you had another spell in hand.
But it's really hard to calculate an exact number for how much damage a single Hp on the Jr. Explorer gives you, but I would say it's actually around 3 damage. As the last Hp gives you more damage overall becuase you don't have to save Moonfires to keep going. Anyway, here's a bunch of numbers.

So correct me if I'm wrong, but the moonfire otk doesn't work if you don't get the reduced cost spells hero power or a radiant elemental since the 1 mana heal spell is too expensive. I guess a 0 mana heal spell works too.
Edit: I realized you can just buff yourself and heal your opponent when they're in fatigue. As long as you don't mess up, you can buff your own minions to the 200 attack needed to finish the game... I'm a doodoo head. It's a super time consuming method of beating the boss but definitely uses less time than trying and failing to beat the bosses w/o cheese.
I had a staff of ammonae so I only needed 100 on board. Combined with the 2 mana +2/+2 spell that druid has, you can gain up to 10 damage a turn. Closer to 8 damage when you have to fight fatigue with heals. This boss in particular doesn't have any board wipes in phase one but other ones do so you can only set up against them in fatigue.
Although getting gnomebliterator is great for the boss!
Wanted to see the Jr. Navigator, radiant element, Mark of the wild infinite buffing combo, but never got used :p

Can someone please explain? I don't really play Hearthstone (I used too, but not at a high level/for very long). The gnomebliterator states it does 10 damage, plus 10 damage to the final boss. Why does the boss take 300?

This wasn't an OTK on the Plaguelord. This was a zero turn kill, since Trump won before his turn actually began! (His manacrystals were still at 0.)

I'm 99% certain I've had a gnomeblitorator "fizzle" against the Plague Lord of Murlocs before.
If you cast Gnomebliterator in the fights before the boss the damage applies before the immunity, if you cast it while he's between 200 and 300 health the immunity is already there so it can fizzle
@@yunogasai3350 Again, I'm not 100% certain, but I think I cast it previous to the boss. It may also be the case that it did work, but I simply misremembered - I'll have to dig through replays to find out for sure.

5:30 there is no need to run a simulation to know how much starfall you get. Considering you don't missplay you will never be full hand so
-> you cast 5 starfall on the explorer
Gives you 10 spells that you will cast (10 dmg)
15 cast in total will provide you 7 starfall (17dmg)
this 7 additionnal cast will provide you 4 more starfall (3+ complete the half) (21 dmg)
4 grants you 2 more (23)
and one last (24dmg)
You might add the random other spells
Math almost works out, but you're forgetting that you don't have 5 moonfires ready to go, so you'll have to use some of the ones you get from the adventurer. The correct damage value is easier to explain using a little bit of algebra
Say you have just one moonfire and adventurer on n health.
Every moonfire cast will grant you 2,5 moonfires(2 from adventurer and 0,5 from your passive) so casting n moonfires leaves you with 2,5n-(n-1)=1,5n+1 moonfires for damage. With X moonfires you will always deal 2X-1 damage(trust me on this one or test it out for yourself) so 1,5n+1 moonfires deal 2(1,5n+1)-1 damage, or 3n+1, so Trump was spot on with his estimation, and a 5-health adventurer always deals 16 damage with just a moonfire.

1 moonfire, cast 5, get 12,5 back(AKA get 12 back and charge your passive) for 8 moonfires in hand and a charged passive.
Cast your 8 moonfires, get 4 back
Cast your 4 moonfires, get 2 back
Cast your 2, get 1
Cast this 1 and trigger the still charged passive
Cast your final one for 8+4+2+1+1=16 damage

@@getonleagueguys7557 That is irrelevant as there are Druid/Priest and neutral mechs. Hydrologist for instance only offers Paladinsecrets if the class that plays it does not have access to secrets of their own.
i did this exact.. or well similar combo. but mine was actually better, involved having 4 maly's, the 5 mana cost big minions treasure and the playing odd cards gives mana reduction treasure.... deck was... pretty broken by turn 3 - 4 i normally have 2 0 costed maly's that 1/5 treasure and if i was super lucky i'd fish a velen.
though my combo was a little different since i just went all out empied my hand to get all moonfires then drop the maly's and go face xD
