    Good video, good choice. I had a floor done with Pergo laminate and was very pleased. I did a small room with Homedepot Life brand vinyl, after about a year it started to get some lumps and bumps. A neighbour also used it and had the same experience.

      No problem with water? I read the reviews and it said not waterproof and that the click 'n lock system is hard to install because chips and boards move constantly.

    I had most of my house done with the Pergo outlast+ Java Scraped Oak and loved it. Some I did myself but the stairs and upstairs were done by professionals.

    Looking forward to the one year review - I have existing laminate in my home (no idea what brand) and it's awful. any liquid spills bubble the finish up if left for a few minutes. Also, I had some moisture incursion (that I still haven't fully figured out) but the laminate got almost mushy over time and now is a hideous mess where chair legs just dent and 'crumble' it.
    If there's a truly waterproof version, I"m still game, but otherwise I'm so leery of it due to poor results of the laminate I have. I've heard good things about i4F droplock vinyl plank, but i can't find a local dealer so now I'm open to other options.

      I installed Pergo Timbercraft Laminate (Lowe's Name. . . I believe same Pergo product in Home Depot is called Outlast) on our main floor around 900 sq. ft about 4 years ago. It's water resistant. I put a scrap piece in a bucket of water for about 2 weeks. Pulled it out and let it dry and was still fine. The floor is holding up well with a large family and large dog. Some nicks from dropped knives in the kitchen but can be colored in with marker and you won't even see them.
      I installed Lifeproof (Home Depot) Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP) down in our basement around 700 Sq Ft about 2 years ago. It's waterproof and more flexible. Definitely harder to install as the click lock system seems unforgiving especially if you have to redo any areas. It also feels softer than the Laminate. It still looks nice.
      Nothing wrong with the LVP but I like the Laminate more. Just feels more solid. I feel like the LVP might scratch more easily than the Laminate. I'm happy with both but I think I like the Laminate more.

I’ve had flooring installers in to give me an estimate to do the rest of the house. They can’t believe how good the laminate still looks. They all want to do LVP because it’s easier to work with

    Wondering if by now you are still happy with the choice with how it affects your dog? Is it easy for your dog to walk on it or is it slippery? I'm thinking of new flooring and I want it to be easy for my cat to walk on it without slipping.

    • @AngelaMarieMade
      @AngelaMarieMade  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for the thoughtful question! I would say that it only affects my dog when he is really excited and running to the front door, he does slip some but not to the point where he can't recover if that makes sense. As far as durability it has been great and is very resistant to scratch marks. Overall, I am very happy with it and I have put down an area rug that covers a lot of the living room which helps as well.

    Doesn't the Pergo laminate cost more in labor?

    • @AngelaMarieMade
      @AngelaMarieMade  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      In general, the installation labor cost should be comparable for free floating applications of common flooring including the Pergo laminate. Different manufacturers may use a different process and some may take slightly longer to install, however. In other words if there was significant labor costs added to the installation process of a specific product it would make it much less attractive even for higher end products.

      @ Anna I’m about to do the same. Do you find the LVP is softer to walk on than the Laminate? And is it less cold than the Laminate? I’m considering the Lifeproof LVP 6.5mm 12mil with stone core.

    • @republitarian484
      @republitarian484 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've had Pergo Timbercraft Laminate from Lowe's on most of our main floor (900 sq st no transitions) for 3 years now and it's held up very well. I put a scrap piece in a bucket of water for a few weeks then pulled it out and it didn't look like the water affected it at all.
      I'm currently installing about 650 sq ft. of Lifeproof Luxury Vinyl Plank in our basement and although I've only had it down for a few weeks I'm thinking I like the Laminate better. The Pergo Laminate seems much harder and there are virtually no seems when locked together. Plus the Pergo was much easier to put together and to take apart if you need to fix a mistake. The locking system of the LVP was difficult to take apart and it seems softer. You have to hold up the LVP under the light at a certain angle to make sure you don't have any bent/broken corners. I installed a few rows of the LVP and then noticed one corner a few rows back stood out. When looking more closely you could see that the corner was bent and that eventually it would break off. It was somewhat difficult to remove 2 rows of LVP with how it locks. The Pergo Timbercraft would remove very easily and go back very easily.

    • @joelf5565
      @joelf5565 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I just installed Lifeproof LVP throughout my house and already regret it. I really wish I stuck with Laminate. As you stated the locking mechanism is more problematic. Harder to remove and also weaker since the planks are thinner. You also feel any imperfections on your subfloor with LVP and I am concerned that these “flexing spots” will over time cause the seams to buckle and undo. I didn’t get a super cheap flimsy LVP either. It is 6.5mm thick with stone rigid core. Most Laminates start at 10mm with most at 12mm. That difference must make a real world difference.

    We installed old Pergo from Ikea some 25 years ago when it was second most expensive flooring choice. Never regretted it. After all those years of daily abuse, including dogs and cats, it still looks like it the day we installed it. There is another attribute that people often overlook: ease of cleaning. We currently rent an apartment with LVP and whatever we do we cannot get it clean. It seems to attract and keep dirt in those little grooves and is very hard to get out. Most Americans don't care or notice as they walk around the house in their street shoes but for us LVP just does not pass white socks test. It always is dirty.
