    I met her when I was a kid, and you can take my word for it that for someone so well known and accomplished....she was a sweet, unpretentious person. I remember my dad wanting to take a picture of me with her, his camera wouldn't shoot right yet she just stood there with me very patiently as he tried to get it to work. She had just finished a show and was exhausted, but in that moment taking a picture with me was what was more important to her. God rest her soul.

    In 1954,at the tender age of seven,I fell in love with Rosemary Clooney,after seeing her
    in "White Christmas".My adoration never ceased and I was moved to send her a fan
    letter (from down here in New Zealand) in 2002.Only weeks before she passed on,I
    received her lovely,hand-written reply.Some things are just meant to be.Thank you.

    I get so discouraged when someone feels the need to comment on someone’s appearance. Unless is in a positive light and uplifting there is no need. I just recently came across her songs and watched her interviews and she is STUNNING. What a VOICE, smooth and smoothing to the soul. The upbeat songs are my favorite. So Fun. Tracy you need to understand if people had put it out there about her obesity and its not heavy she was obese it might have helped her loose the weight and she would be here today. Sorry your thinking was wrong

    • @akrenwinkle
      @akrenwinkle ปีที่แล้ว

      @@trentaccid2177 There's no way Rosie didn't know she was morbidly obese, or that cigarette smoking was deadly. It's almost always futile to point these things out to anybody. They don't respond, "Well, now that you've pointed that out to me, I'm going to make some healthful changes." That's just the way it is.

    i saw Rosemary Clooney when she made her first variety appearance at the at the London Palladium in the early 1950s It was opening night and Bob Hope got up out of the audience onto the stage and introduced her to everyone, it was a great surprise for her and she did a great show. She passed away just nine months later. Despite past bouts with alcoholism she never lost her amazing gift and looks good at age 73 here. Her appearances on ER made me cry.

    I'm not justifying her weight gain in any fact as I am most sure it definitely helped to shorten her life. But after her breakdown she went to pieces and she has said herself that she knew her weight went out of proportions but it just didn't matter to her anymore. It was more like a comfort eating thing to deal with the pain. I am 25 and have suffered 3 complete breakdowns I have been able to keep myself in check for the most part but it isn't easy. She was beautiful inside and out.

    Sometimes when someone waits to go to heaven, the wait gets to be too much. Not for me. I may fluctuate but I always balance out. Keep my metabolism going along with my blessings. That'll help keep that pesky depression at bay. Because after all is said and done, if we don't learn from our past medical history, we are doomed to repeat it.

    Rosemary had a great gift. Her later life albums she recorded for Concord are all wonderful. She never lost her voice or her incredible ability in phrasing. She was a great singer. The comments on her weight gain are cruel. I believe her weight gain was caused by her psychiatric medications. Those medications, which may be a boon to many, really put the weight on.
