    As a trainer you gave some gems for young QBs that I always share. Stay connected and in rhythm and visualize every throw even when tossing it around. The mind is always working and that muscle memory comes with repetition. One thing I saw was on the snap he jumps in game but as he develops the reps and slows the game down and gains that confidence the session you had with him will pay dividends.

    The freshman is not transferring his front hip first, back leg has to come inside his body frame which will allow him to follow through properly with his throwing arm. He needs to stay within his frame. Head straight on the line. Front foot steps forward.

    • @dimes.
      @dimes.  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      He does a lot of things very good & throws better than most hs qbs as a freshman. I try to keep it simple & let him be an athlete, especially because he is very good when he’s on. Good points tho regardless, thank you for the input 🙏

    Do a true 3 step drop on slants and hitch’s …no pop step …u have to plant your back foot to throw

    • @dimes.
      @dimes.  ปีที่แล้ว

      Sometimes it helps timing. 1 step on a diamond release slant & u might be waiting on the wr to come out of it

    • @kevinsmith8253
      @kevinsmith8253 ปีที่แล้ว

      I played QB and ran spread. And all my routes are 3,5,7 step drops. That helps create separation from the d line and gives u time. If you just take one step and stand there you can get pressure on u and it’s not ideal to throw from that position. It’s better to throw off the last step of your drop and plant and fire it. With a slant if u kno where you want to go , take a nice 3 step drop , the route will open up by your 3rd step and you can plant and throw. Only when it’s a big time hot route or in game call you have with your WR (like a spot pass) and db is 20yds off is when I would just catch and throw. All other times with slants you have to take a 3 step drop .

    • @dimes.
      @dimes.  ปีที่แล้ว

      All good points & probably true in your experience, but there's absolutely no way to throw a 5 yd hitch from shotgun on a 3 step drop & be on time. especially not with an elite wr. Ball has to come out immediately & when it's that quick the rush isn't a factor@@kevinsmith8253

    • @kevinsmith8253
      @kevinsmith8253 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ve compeleted a lot of slants with 3 step drop at comebines and 7on7 …All routes are 3,5,7 drops no matter what…drops are really something to work on and practice ..you have to get back quick and work on your steps and drive back , it’s fast (and when u really have to drive back it’s takes a lot and I guess be difficult on your legs but you have to do it) …and those steps make you a great QB..I mean really focus on driving back fast and plant and throw (there is no route where u just take a pop step and throw, it’s only 3/5/7 step routes) qb ain’t easy.. and you gotta really be ready…the slant hasn’t changed , and no matter if your under center in 1920 in power T with 1 guy split or in shotgun you still have to take a 3 step drop to hit…I can throw it 70 yds

    • @kevinsmith8253
      @kevinsmith8253 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There’s a lot of things with mechanics that will allow you to complete slants with a 3 step drop ..I mean I will complete them over and over again against coverage and the timing will be right …I don’t want a QB just taking one step back and standing there waiting to throw a ball there’s no rhythm there

      He has to trust his talent fully, play with a clear head/stay in the moment, & have the most confidence he can. This is general advice, but when taken seriously it changes players into ballers 💯
