First time I rode a new horse (lesson one) I was talking the whole way around to him.
Letting him know I was there and just letting him know my voice.
Recently did my first canter on this exact horse, My instructor was so proud and the horse took care of me.
Just two mini bursts of canter (of course).
He is a 15hh+ blue roan-white cob (blue roan instead of brown or black patches) and he’s the perfect shape and height for me (only 7 so has some young horse issues but nothing dangerous).
