Nonsense, the light novel has 14 volumes. If I answer than I spoil it. *SPOILER* I f a courtisane woill bought free from the brothel the other courtisanes will dance for her. The woman that bought free and the man who did it have something to do with Mao Mao, it's her birthmother and birthfather. Mao Mao get hurt by another adventure outside the palace with Jinshi.
@@Nemi-pp2zs, "POTENTIAL SPOILER" ? I love to get Spoilers, by the way. Thanks very much. I recently learned through a series of Audios uploaded on another Channel that this "couple" have been going out on some adventures at night and that at least in 1 he was disguised as a woman and "Xiao Mao" applied make-up on him. I even heard this last thing on another Video today.
I know so many people ship them but after watching everything all I see is that he is constantly touching her and getting in her space and his actions make her very uncomfortable to the point where she tries to get away from him but she can’t really say no because of her job and position. He abuses his power over her and makes her endure whatever he wants, and doesn’t take into consideration that she doesn’t find his antics charming, that she doesn’t like him back, and that she doesn’t want him to touch her.
Can I ask you if you also read the mangas or the books ? Because Jinshi's behavior is more explained, he also cares about her and know that she isn't necessary at ease with close contacts, which makes him evolve too after. The anime is good but miss a lot of things unfortunately sometimes for me.
@@petitegraine54 I’ve read all the manga and a good amount of the books and I stand by what I said because while she cares about him and his well being as a person, she still isn’t attracted to him nor wants a relationship with him and is uncomfortable with how physical he is with her and that he doesn’t respect her boundaries or wishes. I know that in the way later books there is some evolution in their relationship, but for most of the time he is forcing her to endure him since he literally owns her and he just wore her down by the later books. Yes he gives her gifts and lets her do things and have opportunities that she otherwise wouldn’t get, but on the flip side he won’t respect her boundaries, physically attacks her, traps her, has sexually assaulted her, and uses his authority over her to his advantage. He is all about the chase and is doing it all as a bribe to win her affection and won’t accept her constant rejections. He isn’t as great as people make him out to be and she shouldn’t be forced or coerced into being with him.
If he was actually abusing his power over her, she would've been locked up in his rooms the moment he decided he wants her. In their historical and societal context, he would've been allowed to do so, no questions asked. As it is, he's flirty and a bit too close for comfort at times, but saying he abuses his power over her when he respects her, admires her and is genuinely fond of her isn't accurate.
@@starhigh6663 Just because he doesn’t lock her up doesn’t mean he isn’t abusing his power over her. If he truly respected her he would respect her boundaries of personal space and acknowledge when he is making her uncomfortable and remedy it. He would also acknowledge that she very clearly doesn’t feel the same way about him that he does about her and back off. Just because isn’t abusing his power as much as he could be doesn’t mean he isn’t abusing his power at all. If he didn’t literally own her and have power over her livelihood and life, she would have fought back against his harassment and abuse a long time ago.
@@Curlyteacher537 By lock her up, I didn't mean literally. The point is that if he wanted se3ual gratification from her, he could easily obtain it. As you said, he owns her. In their circumstances, he would've been given the right to demand a LOT from her. But he doesn't. Instead he flirts a bit and backs off. Maomao cringes from his behaviour, yet never seems to feel in actual danger. The only time I'm told he crosses the line is in chapter 68, which I haven't reached yet tbh. P.s. as for her not feeling the same about him, I think that has a lot to do with their social positions and the fact she believes he's an eunuch. Maomao's too realistic and pragmatic to develop feelings for a superior in court. Nevermind that she doesn't see him as a man, in the functional sense. Jinshi is used to using his looks and seduction to his advantage. I really think most of his flirty behaviour is a habit more than anything. And all things considered, he's not that pushy imo. We get chapters after chapters of Maomao doing her own thing with minimal interaction between them. Not what I would call harassment.
