Never heard of a beef between SOM and KRS. Two different levels. I'm from East Oakland, grew up off both.
Casual is dope. I remember when they filmed the video for "That's How It Is", at that liquor store that was on 96th and MacArthur.
John (Casual) was the street dude out of the Hieroglyphics camp. He directed a few of my cousins videos.
93 til infinity is one of the GOAT productions.
Man I remember when Jason Kidd was a senior at St Joe's in Alameda. We went to the game at the Oakland coliseum. After the game, it was a brawl between Hiero and some dudes from 82nd Ave "The Hill".
We looked up, damn near every door on the coliseum opened with niggas yelling, "Hiero" running out. them dudes was DEEP

That was lees liquor store. I remember hearing about that fight I was in the 10th grade at skyline at the time. I do know from being for real friends with some Hiero members they thought frisco disco line was a jab at them.

@@donkee9 so long ago man. Saafir used to post up in from of Jim's Liquor on 82nd ave. when i was a tech i did a job at his house on 98th ave, just before he became confined to a wheelchair.
i remember walking down 82nd and Mac. this was right after 93 til infinity dropped. i heard this dude ask his homeboy
      "you ever heard of NAS"?
when my cousins lived on Sterling, way up the 82nd hill, casual used to stop by my cousin Apple's crib.

I was a Chapter Leader for the Universal Zulu Nation in DC in 1993. I remember going up to a Baltimore club one night with some other Zulus to see a show that featured BDP and Souls of Mischief. I don't remember who else was on the bill. It was jam packed. Baltimore had a heavy underground Hip Hop scene and a lot of MC's came that night wanting to battle KRS. Some guys were even shouting from the audience and trying to get the attention of KRS to battle. After the show, I remember being back stage and KRS, Souls of Mischief and some local cats engaged in a cypher right then and there! It was dope. A bunch of freestylin' and back and forth but I don't remember there being any bad blood.

everytime i watch one of your vids i feel like im 12 y.o. again playing nintendo with friends who are no longer here. its one of the only times i can think of them and smile, its like they are here watching with me. i can remember the jokes, the days we bought certain albums at the spot on 18th street, the wise cracks, the moments when one of us figured out a line that we couldnt understand, the girls we messed with and the songs that were on....
cancer almost took me to join them but im recently cancer free(!!!) and i find myself reminiscing a lot. sorry for the rant i just wanted to say thanx for the memories. the music and the moments are in a quantum entanglement that cant ever be separated.

I'd also love to know more about Kris's relationship with DJ Doc, who seemed to be one of the great unsung producers lost to history. Was his story like Ced Gee's, where he wasn't fully credited for his musical contributions, and where is he now? Anyway, love the channel and a segment where you interview your brother, the GOAT, would be epic!! Peace ✌🏼✌🏼

Peace DJ Kenny Parker🫡 Hiero was HURT because they love & respect BDP so much, and they thought KRS had dissed (as Casual explained in that interview) but you left out The Souls taking a shot at KRS on "That's When Ya Lost" (which ironically SAMPLES KRS on tha hook🤔) but it's A-Plus who says "Now I'm Gonna Show You how the West Coast SMASH KIDS, yo!/I'm rhyming swell, so to hell with a wack diss/generalizing...dissing before you ever seen this....". That was directed at KRS 🫡 Peace!

Didn't hear about this beef back in the day. Was a huge fan of Fear Itself though. The "Frisco Disco" line being a Hiero diss sounds like a reach. I also thought he was talking about the breakbeat, especially because the original record is on multi-coloured vinyl, so when it spins it looks like the swirl pattern on the Nabisco cookie packets. That also sounds like a reach though tbh...
