What is the point of Apple TVs nowadays besides stuff like Zwift? I haven't had a TV without smart functionalities in a decade, a couple with airplay, so it has confused me how this product has become so popular🤔
Thanks, another useful video - was thinking of upgrading from gen 2 4K but will hold on now until they tweak the profile for Zwift! Was there a usb c cable included for charging the remote?
I think I'll stick to my first gen 4k Apple TV, I don't even have a 4k TV so it doesn't really matter, and the way electricity bills are probably going up this winter (here in Finland at least), I'll probably be using my 2020 M1 MBA instead of using the big TV to Zwift, minimizing power usage the best I can while still getting my training done... unless the power goes off 😬
Zwift always run 1080p on an Apple TV, so will never take advantage of a 4K TV. However the details il the image processing/generation, the graphic engine, is not the same. The game engine can take advantage of better processes to render a more detailed image in the 1080p pixel map, adding details, shadows, frame rate, etc. So Zwift will not run 4K one way or another. What people hope is the the details will improve with the newer hardware.
Nice video. Does this mean that the Mac Mini M2 will utilize the enhanced graphics profile from the latest 1.47 update ? I wasn’t sure if that model came with a silicon chip. Would be nice if it did as that would probably be one of the less expensive options to add on for these new enhanced graphics.

Hey guys, great content. But I have a question.. got the wife’s approval to finally get off the iPhone while using Zwift. The plan is a 50” Samsung, TV stand and Apple TV. I’m currently running the Saris H3 smart trainer and a Wahoo TICKR X heart rate monitor. So question is, will I be needing anything else?
The Bluetooth limitation is disappointing. I’m currently using an iPad and it "just works" with my HRM, old Kickr and cadence thingy. It’s more reliable than using the companion app for pairing. Was hoping an Apple TV could replace the iPad.
Good point :) My difficulty is with occasional NBN dropouts, and Zwift seems to recover more quickly and far more reliably when devices are connected to the same device as the main Zwift app compared to pairing on a seperate device via the companion app (which is a bit hit and miss).
Mr. Shane would you recommend the ticker X for use with the Apple TV for getting heart rate and cadence? Or is there something you would recommend that is better? Thanks!
Would you say it's worth upgrading from gen1 4KATV to get the improved new remote rather then just buying the remote .you would then have the updated hardware if they do make use of the extra performance

For that I need the operation and start-up to be as simple and fast as possible, since he does not understand technology and connections. The idea is to make it as simple as possible. For that reason I thought about doing it through Apple TV 4K since your television has 4K resolution. I see that there are Apple TVs of various generations 1, 2 and 3. Without a doubt the best is the last one, but I would like to know if it also works well with generation 1 and 2 or what are the possible problems for not choosing generation 3.
