The missing children one!!! When I was in Epcot I saw a kid crying by himself looking at the flowers I started talking to him and got a cast member when his dad tapped me on the shoulder saying he was throwing a tantrum and they left him alone on purpose so he could get scared and follow them 🙃 fellow parents please don’t do this

Interesting method of parenting, but the parents should have stayed within range of the child!

Okay I know that losing a child is a VERY SERIOUS MATTER (every parents worst nightmare) but....watching a lost kid be found in disney was almost sort of comical becuase it was a whole orderal!!! We noticed a kid suddenly started crying outside and like 5 different moms RUSHED to the child like a synchronized swat team and each immediately took on a specific roles with zero panic. You had the comforting mom, the "I'll get help" mom, and the 3 bodyguard moms. A lost child is NOT funny, but seeing how people reacted was pretty impressive and we jokingly were like "well...i guess if it's going to happen this is the best place for it...😅" Those disney moms were PREPARED!!! (The actual mom was found within minutes)

I would absolutely have giggled, because the synchronized mom response would be pretty funny! 😂 And you're right, if you're gonna lose your kid, there's no better place than Disney 🤣

And Disney's Cast Members handle this so superbly... "oh, did your parents get lost? Well, let's help them." Superb.

This is so accurate. When a child needs help, many moms automatically go into “momma bear” mode.

We had two terrible things happen in the same trip: My preschool-aged cousin dropped a glass bottle of apple juice and needed stitches on her foot AND I lost my driver's license in Animal Kingdom. In both cases, Cast Members assisted us and helped us to have a great vacation anyway!

Our top tip for going anywhere busy or exciting with our pre-schoolers was to write our cell phone number in permanent pen on their tummies. The number couldn't be lost, they knew where to find it and it wasn't on display to the general public. It also didn't wash off in a pool or rub off on their clothing.

I can honestly say the Advent Health was a big help on our August trip. My 6 yr old had gotten posion ivy and it showed symptoms the 2nd day of our trip. We did an online registration and we were quickly on a virtual zoom type visit with the doctor. It was a 10 min video chat and he was prescribed medication for $25 delivered direct to the Animal kingdom lodge. It barely disrupted our day and the medication arrived within a couple hours. Saved us a ton of time going to a medical office or hospital. This was a minor medical thing, which is why I can highly recommend it.

I've been planning our family's once in a lifetime vacation to Disney for over a year now, and this Saturday we'll finally be going! I've been watching so many dfb guide videos in the lead up to this trip, and I wanted to thank you guys for all the hard work. It's become a part of my weekend routine to sip my coffee and listen to your videos to prepare for the trip. I can't wait to finally try all of the snacks I've been hearing about for months! ❤❤❤

I've definitely got food poisoning at Disney. Me and mom had just arrived at Pop Centuru after walking in Downtown Disney to wait til our room was ready and we got a Italian sandwich at the quick service at Pop, a few hours later and we were both having to go to the bathroom. Luckily by the next day it had been settled but it was still not a fun first day.

I was in EPCOT one day watching a performance outside one of the Oriental Pavillions when a young (Three year old) attached himself to my pants leg and would not let go. Unfortunately the child did not speak a language I knew (AND I know a big bunch) and I could not even move. I had another guest seek out a Disney person - who came and I stood there with the child while they looked around for someone looking for him. It took about 15 minutes until they found his parents - who were looking all over for him - and one of the parents spoke a language I could understand (Although Not english too). I did buy the kid a drink - and we had a big laugh and it worked out alright. I ran into them at another park later in the week and the kid again came right to me! But at least the parents were in tow. WE went to lunch and actually had a good time.

As someone who did become ill while in Disney (and had to cut my trip short), it was extremely easy to get connected with their health services. I was able to be seen, get meds, and they provided all transport. While I wasn’t able to finish my trip out, I was very pleased with how they really did all they can to help you feel better.

hotel bus stoppage can affect your trip back from a park. 14-ish years ago on my first trip we had a late dinner in epcot, and found the busses to all be gone. a cast member spotted us staring blankly waiting and they had an SUV come by and got us back to our resort. I would not gamble on this option happening but it was super nice of this person for bringing us 'home' from the park we got stuck in.

When talking about weather, don't forget excessive heat. We always hear about thunderstorms and hurricanes, but not the other end of the spectrum. Yes, it's hot in Disney, but this past summer, it was DANGEROUSLY hot. Every day we were there for our last week, the heat index was around 112-115 degrees. There were warnings all over to stay inside. It changes the way you spend your day. We couldn't stand to even walk around the world showcase. We didn't go far before ducking into a pavilion and spending a while in its store. And of course we had tickets to the first Halloween Party of the year, and it was at the end of our trip so we couldn't reschedule. It was over 100 degrees at midnight that night! We did a lot of indoor stuff...Philharmagic, Hall of Presidents, etc, just for the air conditioning. You expect it to be hot, but in that kind of heat, health issues are much more common, so have a plan B to keep you safe!

I got Covid three days in to my *birthday* trip last summer. Cast members at the hotel were super-sweet and made up a goodie bag of snacks and board games for myself and my friend (who also got Covid) to keep us occupied while we waited out the rest of our trip in our hotel room.

We just got back from our first trip to Disney. She already commented on her issues. She and I thought about just simple things, sunscreen, carrying a 1 spare clothes in your carry-on. Unless you are really want to see the park on arrival day, just take that day for unexpected delays.

Had an interesting one. Did a split stay with our park tickets tied to our 2nd hotel. On our first park day, we left our luggage to be moved to the next hotel and went to the parks, but it wouldn't let us in. Cast members told us we didn't have any tickets for the day. Turns out your tickets don't get activated until you check in to your hotel. Thankfully it only took like 20 minutes for cast members to sort it out so we didn't have to go have to go all the way to the hotel before getting into the park.

Another idea when it comes to kids wandering off is if you don’t think your child will be able to memorise you mobile (cell) number write it down on a scrap of paper and then give it to them then make sure they put it in their pocket that when when a Cast Member finds them they can give the scrap of paper to the CM and then they can call you and let you know your child has be found

Not to advertise or anything, but a certain big box retailer (WM) has a store brand sunscreen brand (Great Value) that works very well, goes up to 70 SPF with a very reasonable price tag. Stock up on that, rather than pay God knows for sunscreen at a Disney Store.

Better yet Rise of the Resistance would have a single line lane or even better is shorter time to wait in line since there are less crowds now. One post I read was a person said there was a 15 minute wait. I said wow 15 minutes. Last year in Oct. I waited 80 minutes for Rise. For 15 minutes I can go on it 2 or 3 times.

Downside of showing them how to recognize the cast member name tags is that they are also sold as souvenirs and people buy them all the time for fun who are not cast members. I'd definitely try to show your kid how to also look for things like uniforms (yes, even though I understand there are many different ones) and also teach them that going into a store or ride can be the quickest way to find an actual CM.

    • @trishoconnor2169

For Disney to sell name tags that look like the real thing is like a police department selling copies of their badges. Even if they themselves can tell the difference, it's an inexcusable security issue for the general public. Does Disney not have enough souvenirs they can make money selling?

One thing that is a common occurrence is "Disney Ankles". I learned about this one my first trip to Epcot. The combination of heat rash, sweat, and constant walking, causes many people to experience a painful red rash around their ankles. Elevating your feet at night and a liberal use of rash ointment, or something like Neosporum is helpful. Some people do better with compression socks, but I found that I did better with completely bare ankles (liberally medicated).

The infection doesn't know your age! I used to work in the op center of a bank, checking signatures on checks, in the days when every check physically traveled back to the bank it was drawn on, through a number of intermediaries. Each of those slips of paper had been touched by several people, and I handled hundreds or thousands of them a day. I tried to train myself never to touch my face while working, but at least once, I rubbed my eye, and that was all it took to get a bad case of conjunctivitis (pink eye).

The terrible thing that happened to me last year at Hollywood Studios was I couldn't get a disability pass even with a bad back. Just because I can walk I was told to get a wheel chair, but I can't stand for long periods without my back hurting. Another bad thing was Rise of the Resistance doesn't have a single line lane like it should because it's out for a while. Also the cast members need to be more informed. I was in Magic Kingdom and asked 2 cast members when does the parade start and they said 3:00 but when I got there a few minutes early the parade was over. I'm going in Oct. when it's not the hottest. My niece was 7 and she really wanted one of those fan/squirt bottles but they were too expensive for my sister in law and I and boy did my niece cry, even at age 7. Luckily at the gift store at our hotel was a smaller one. And she was happy as she didn't care how small it was and I just used the batteries from my walkman.
