I live here on the central coast of California, about 3 miles from those dunes. I don't know what Jay had to do to get those dunes to himself (he shot this in November, 2017), but if you come here to rent an ATV and hit the dunes, do not expect them to be empty of other vehicles. Most days those dunes have hundreds of vehicles out there.
