Two uploads in a week, super job! I still have some long c and odd shaped ring spanners for getting behind the fuel pumps, compressors etc, not used them in years but hope springs eternal! Happy new year feller, keep up the good work 👍🏻🇬🇧
Happy New Year.. fantastic video… 🎉Got all of my Grandads Whitworth spanner’s which he used in his Fitting days. CATERPILLARS ARE YELLOW..!😂 Cummins are Black or Gold
The colour has been a bit of an on going debate. I rang the factory at Darlington, and they could not give me the official colour. I then scoured the internet and the general consensus was the engine should be in Cummins Old Gold. The next problem was, that is just a name, so I needed the RAL Code. Fortunately I have a contact at Holset Turbos a subsidiary of Cummins. He said that Cummins never actually had a colour called "Old Gold" and that it is thought that when the factory, in Columbus Ohio, went to a local car paint store to get a can of paint matched to a heritage project they were working on. The car store wrote on the tin "Cummins Old Gold". Its a great story and I hope it is true. He was able to give me the RAL code and said that Camp Eden, in Malton, Yorkshire had used the RAL code for one of their projects. So armed with the code I went to Wigan Car Paints and asked for a litre of RAL 1007. The name of the paint on the tin is RAL1007 Chrome Yellow. It does have a gold hue to it and is very different to the paler insipid yellow found on Caterpillar engines. I posted this installment this morning and we have already lost a subscriber 🤦♂️, so the colour has obviously offended them too 🤣
In fairness I knew that whatever colour it went, I would not get it right for someone. At a push I could have put it in the Beige / Green of the later NTE engines but that would not suit everyone so I went with the Gold, which was my first choice anyway. Spoiler alert when we get to the NTE in the 4350, it will be going into the beige colour... When i find the correct RAL code.

Early Cummins engines were yellow. 👍
@ Offical colour was Cummins Gold Rather than Yellow. We had mainly Black Blocks, but One Gold block in a C series.

@ Sounds like you have researched this way more than me just seeing yellow Cummins engines on older vehicles being rescued on TH-cam
