Thanks everyone for watching! Hope you enjoy react videos being back. Testing out putting all different links for people looking to purchase from different sellers, so if you're in the market, let me know what you think. Cheers!
Wow, as one of the experts in the curated video, never expected to have someone go piece by piece and pick it apart haha. It's funny to have someone be so critical, both of the review and my skiing. Obviously curated's ski reviews weren't a hit since they canceled them last year. The experts were given very little support, asked to do a ton of reviews, and lots of our comments and footage were taken out of context by whoever edited them. You have 100% control over your videos, so try not to judge experts who had no control over anything but turning the camera on. I definitely had a lot of things I would've changed if I had creative control haha. We had a lot of topics and aspects of the ski we had to cover on every ski, regardless of whether it was relevant. On the topic of the ski, I do think that the tune may have been poor, or maybe we were coming from the enforcer line which just felt way better on the groomers, but on the groomed runs the Bent 110 felt horrible. Maybe it was a weird snow consistency, groomed pow that didn't hold when you carved, but it was not a good time. Basically I understand your frustration with the review, but try to refrain from blatantly disrespecting the experts. Saying that we "don't have the ability", did you look up who you're talking about? Luke skis remote couloirs that few people in the world have ever even looked at and has also completed the Chuting Gallery in the Wasatch. I have literally been a professional skier since I was 16, was top 50 in the world in slopestyle and have been making films and content for decades. Maybe holding a selfie stick and doing dad turns for an underfunded review doesn't show that, but do some research before put people on blast. Props for putting together solid reviews, appreciate the work you put in! Hope this helps your engagement haha.
Hey Please reach out directly to ricketyskireviews@gmail.com if you ever are in the Boise area and want to ski with Zach and I, I think it would be cool to give you guys a redemption with some better footage and editing. I can respect that I get a bit harsh with my critique, usually I'm just talking about carving technique where as you guys probably have much deeper knowledge with freestyle skiing etc. and I think they set you all up sometimes with odd skis for your expertise. But I can totally see how it comes across when it's you skiing. Sad to see curated go, I kind of thought they might just improve the resources of the videos not cut the whole program. Anyway cheers from Idaho, -Elliott
@@RicketySkiReviews Haha appreciated man, we're all just people. But yeah if we ever ski in person I can assure you I can carve a ski, just maybe not racer style. Especially without a camera in my hand. Cheers man!
About skiing it in the East Coast, I tried it here and I don't think completely stupid in as a powder ski since its very good for quick turns, did amazing in the trees and really all ungroomed terrain. It could carve a surprising veriety of turn shapes. Tho I found their speed limit very fast, you could cheat that limit by laying huge GS turns at a high edge angle in fast successions. Its a bit as if having them locked in a turn reduced the chatter significantly and with that wide waist you can really step on that platform at a high edge angle. It was dope, but the conditions were pristine, and I had the piste all to myself, I'm unsure how fun those would be if the piste was crowded and I didnt have the space to make big arc at that speed... Definitely not my first choice for traight lining, but then again, they were really easy to just throw sideways for speed checking so maybe not that bad. In my opinion their only CLEAR weakness is having to deal with adverse snow conditions : ice, chopped, cruds (it did freaking terrible!). They also did quite well in spring conditions, tho it was early spring perfect day so the snow wasnt too grabby, would need more input for that. So overall, they can makes sense in a 3 or + ski quiver here on the east coast as a powder/touring ski. As a 2 ski quiver they lack crudcutting abilities.
They actually can be a perfect 1 ski quiver. We did the entire season on them hiking across Colorado. They have everything you need for 1 ski quiver. They: float, are light for hiking, carve, turn on a dime in trees, and land well if you get them longer. That's all you need for big mountains. You can't get angry at Curated, those guys have no clue ever.
East coasters can call me crazy but I daily drive a 104 and enjoyed a bent 120 on leftovers at killington. I dont think wide skis are far fetched you just have to enjoy skiing wide skis which I happen to
You don't need a ski that's wider than 96 on the east coast. The handful of days with powder, it's tracked out in a few hours, and you'll basically never use the skis. Daily drivers aren't wider than 100, and I think for resort skiing, a narrower ski will probably serve you better on any coast.
I thought it was so goofy that the guy said, "Just so you know" like he was about to make a disclaimer about his sources of bias or something, only to then proceed to strongly assert that he's actually super objective and unbiased.
I would suggest that you try the Armada ARV 116 JJ (not UL) before you settle with the Bent 110. Heavier but more stable in the chop, floats really well in the fresh powder, and are very nimble in the trees. Just my suggestion. They are not making the regular 116 JJ next year so find a good deal on one now. By no means is it a carving ski on hardpack, but it does feel like it has an "air suspension" ride on the hardpack.
Husky the arm, mono, JJ 116 and half for four years as a daily driver through everything. It’s on the lighter side of a ski which I like for how wide it is it has capped construction a beefy sidewall and amp sidecut to put it on edge. I am thinking of going to the Bent 110 next for this year… thoughts. I want a longer ski180 vs 176 jj
I demoed this ski and I own Black Crows Anima. I brought both to the resort and tested them back to back on a powder day with groomers in between. I like how you describe the carving capability of the Bent 110 in the review. I could not agree with you more about how well they carve for 110 underfoot. The Anima is heavy but charges through variable conditions better compared to the Bent. But as you say the Bent is super maneuverable in the trees whereas the Anima is not as nimble due to the weight. Basically I think you really know how to analyze the characteristics of a ski very well.
@@AW33COM i can't remember if the 110s also got the same changes, but ik the 100s had the wood core extended thru the horizon tech to give better carving power and there was somthing about the new horizon tech floating better thru pow.
Ha ha ha, Love your bashing of Curated! Your frustration, rubbing your forehead and face etc, I can feel it ha ha ha. I totally agree with you - they’re totally contradicting themselves in every other sentence. And a one quiver, ha ha ha who are they kidding? And in Scandinavian (American east coast), no way. Better go with a narrower, with better edge grip and less chatter. Thinking of replacing my new Line Bacon 108 190cm with Bent 110, what do you think? European Alpes conditions. The Bacon carves really well but it’s so heavy. Me, 193cm/93kg. Divide by 0,454 for lbs…
I would love to have your take on companies abandonig extreme stiff skis for so called experts. My take is that a lot of brands now introduce a softer nose/front, making it easier to load the ski. (I refer to skis like Brahma, the new Montaro and many more). I get it, it is not profitible to be a expert ski, you need mass buyers, but for people who need hard core skis this is not a great progress. Your take? Have to say the skis comming out these days are mental. I love my ski park more than family, so this nerdy channel is gold ;) Ski park: Stockli WRT Laser 180 2022 (best ski in the world) Stockli Edge FT 184 Volkl Kendo 184 Blizzard Brahma 177 Dynastar Ledgend (rock ans kiting) Ski style: super agressive with bad fundementals
Curated does tend to have a problem "landing the plane", namely because of the terrible pilots. They enjoy gaslighting the consumer with their own chairlift riz to enable uninformed purchases. Brilliant
Sounds like Curated had a bent 110 with bad edge tune. I believe your review as accurate, but try to keep in mind your review the tune as well as the ski. No reason to freak out at Curated for something that is different than what you experienced, their either lying or something is different. They do tend to contradict themselves with a lot of their comments. Time for you to lower your expectations and just point out their issues. No need to get so frustrated. Honestly, I don't know why you even bother reviewing their reviews? I can smell Curated's BS from a mile away, don't need you freaking out to reinforce it. With Ski Essentials at least, they have valid points and its reasonable to compare your take on a ski with their take, especially since they are East coast and you are West coast.
There's one group that TOTALLY are being left out. Women. Yes, some do the 'hits' ,blah, blah, but largely speaking, they're left out of ALL reviews I've seen. Yes, they're there ..... like maybe 0.0001%. No wonder when you go to an après ski bar they're mainly sausage fests!! 😂😂
