Like I tell my friends who still smoke:, "Any fool can quit smoking, but it takes a brave man to give himself cancer."
I was a Sophomore in High School when the Civil War series came out. I still have the VHS and the soundtrack. I enjoyed listening to his interviews and your videos.
That’s great! I blended some of this together during the codger challenge so it’s had some time in the jar. I like it but so far it’s not a favorite. It’s reported that Foote called this blend Shiloh. After he got kicked out of the Army he enlisted in the Marines, gotta give him credit for that. I’m reading The Civil War again for the 3rd time.

Hiyas Rob, I absolutely loved the Ken Burns Civil War documentary and especially Foote's observations and story telling segments. Winston Churchill said that "history will be kind to me, for I intend to write it" I will try that blend one day, though I'm not a big fan of half & half. Serene smokes, Gary

However, I only recently learned of his preferred blend and, like you, also mixed some together. I enjoy it pretty well, but admit it could probably use a little more time mixing and mingling in the jar?! Thanks for sharing!
After watching the Codger challenge from afar, I got some 1/2 and 1/2, Carter Hall and Edward G. I mixed up some Shelby Foote and really like it. I can’t smoke blends with Perique or a lot of Latakia, so mixing these two together made an enjoyable smoke. I’ll use Shelby’s mix if there is a Codger Challenge next year.
No stupid questions 🙂I’m not sure what you mean but I would jar it upon blending it together and wait a week or two before smoking. It will last for a long time and age in the jar. Try to store in a cool dark place. I have 3 year old jars that are delicious 😋 Have a superb day!
Mixing tobacco’s seems cool I’m just afraid I’ll regret it lol. I wish history didn’t have to be tampered with by people being offended it’s just that history an we learn from it
