I got to see him in the Farewell tour of Fiddler on the Roof,. in 2012,.. he was 72 yrs old,.. he looked and sounded everybit the SAME as he did in the movie. Just a little more gray in hair and beard, The booming voice and mesmerizing stage prencene had every one in total awe. It is one of my most cherished experiences of my life.
The world lost a very special and talented man when he passed away. Fiddler On The Roof is one of the most important and engaging films, EVER! I would place it well above Gone With The Wind or Casablanca which are also two of my more favorite films. It will always be a film by which others will be judged and the same for Topol's performance in it. This movie could not be released in the world of today. Very likely, even the stage performances would be rallied against and shut down by the left psychos, SJWs and other insane people. HollyWOKE cannot comprehend this film and would fry their communist brain cells if they even tried. Thank goodness Topol is not here to see how it has all fallen. Even so, he will be missed dearly. Now, it's time to drag out the DVD and watch it again.
Of course, these days someone like Topol would never be allowed to play the role of Tevia, since he isn't himself a European Jew, but an Israeli. This is, perhaps, one of the finest examples of how blind 'inclusivity' can be to the amazing talent of deserving people who- through no fault of their own- are not representative of the characters they play.
