True, 2021 was his last decent split, but already wasnt the "im the only person who can rival caps in the west" level of gaming anymore, just good even if a bit inconsistent. Wonder what would've been if carlos let through a FNC perkz deal that year.
2019 maybe, i still felt on those 2 LEC finals, that Rekkles/Hily duo was better than Perkz/Miky. Although Perkz was amazing at Worlds that year.
TRUE. Perkz hasn't seemed like the same player since he left G2 to join C9. He has consistently been kinda mid to straight up bad, and it's only recently that anyone seems to be acknowledging it.

I think there's plenty of reasons to bench Perkz based on gameplay alone.
This is exactly what GMs should be doing if a player is being a problem. You can have an ego and be a diva if you're the best, but definitely not when you're shit too.
@@Sylvarus If this was a dispute or a behavioural issue with a coach absolutely. A manager on the other hand other than to handle the contracts barely has business talking to the player and certainly shouldnt be getting their ego involved in team composition.

How is something like this ever happening in what should be at least a somewhat professional environment? Of course the GM has to have the final say on benchings and things like that but it always has to be done in accordance with the team and the coaching staff, especially if the players have such a strong bond because you don't want to saw discontent amongst the team. Benching Perkz after this split would have been fine if it was due to his performance and if it was clear that he won't return to form anymore (him and Bo were the best mid/jungle in EU at multiple points at the start of 2023 so it's not like he's been bad for years).
To just drop something like that on people who played with Perkz for years, who might have thought that he will turn up in spring and summer and who really wanted to reunite with him can completely destroy team cohesion.
Obviously we can't know what happened in detail but if it was anything close to what has been described that GM should be let go immediately because he clearly puts his ego above his teams chances to win.

I think it's interesting that LEC teams are suddenly benching players left and right for having disagreements with coaches and managers. Feels like a weird power play by those coaches and managers since I'm sure this kind of thing has happened plenty of times in the past without benchings.
cause players in western teams have too much power considering the shitty results they bring to compared to asian teams. Asian players aren't going to flame their management a la Adam cause they fully know that someone else is going to take their spot.

The whole situation is so weird, because Araneae isn't a person known for engage in disputes or have problems with other people in different orgs as a player or as a coach/manager. I trully have to wonder wtf happened and how the situation escalated to the point Araneae use his position as a manager to impose the bench of Perkz.

From my personal opinion, which are merely speculations. I believe Heretics wanted to kick Perkz before the season start but maybe due contract stuff they weren’t able to do it. So they likely needed a excuse to move perkz to bench without getting on contract legal issues

Probably the GM did it because the coach was not going to. And say that he did it for performance reassons only would make the coach weaker, becaude the community would say: "Why you hire a coach then if you remove the players and change the coach project?" So the easiest way to fix it is saying, ohh the player had an argument with me, thats why i bench him.
Personally i think the cause is irrelevant when the effect is what was supposed to happen. His performance was abyssmal and i would welcome any ERL midlaner to have a chance so that pros stsrt waking up to the fact that they either practice blood and sweat to stay strong and consistent or give way to new talent that actually cares enough to put in the work.
When perks was on peak G2 it felt like he was one of the best adc’s in the world, but then he wanted to play mid for them and when he did G2 looked way worse. I have no clue why perkz gave up playing ADC to become an less than average Mid. When he left G2 it felt like such an ego move so that he could play Mid
It is either the general manager is a such a diva that he can't accept players even dare to talk back to him or Perkz really said or did something inconceivable that he got benched. Adam's case it was clearly a good decision but there I don't even know is it good or bad.
I have no idea the actual reason Perks got benched, but the decision looks good for the team. Perkz and Kaiser were the weakest players in the team, hiring Trymbi and promoting their ERL superstar are probably going to make the team stronger. I'm hoping there's no drama with Jankos and Wunder, them being friends with Perkz. I think they're professionals, so it should be fine.

He was completely invisible entire split, as a engage support specialist. It's usually enchanters you have hard time seeing what they do, he just afked most of the time and made sure to not int too hard, 100% job security mode. Perkz was worst performer, wunder did what was expected of him, which is be weakside, flakked wasnt a ruler, but he was average, and jankos played well untill he also started playing bad when team fell apart. Probably following some bad calls. So aside from perkz who do you think performed worse than kaiser?
