  • All of these are coins that I now own, and we really knocked this submission out of the park! I'm in the green on the deal already so my only cost was really the grading fees of about $400. Thankfully, we were able to eclipse that number, as we had a bunch of rare Canadian silver key date coinage, some individual challenging coins, and some tougher to find copper that has held up in reasonably good condition over the years. Really happy with how this one went as grading submissions can be great sometimes but terrible others, so it's pretty much a toss up as to what the eventual outcome will be.

    Chris just a suggestion for another video - the planned PRICE GOUGING the US Mint will pull on its customers. For example 2019, 2020 and 2021 Silver proof sets will go up to $105 in 2021.
    See the Federal Registerbelow but here is some detail on the planned price increases in 2021: a) Quadruple the price on alo Bronze medals so that $40 medal will now run $160, some being high relief some not. Many of these medals are replicas of the Congressional Medal. The medals have been undervalued but quadruple price increase????
    The Silver Proof set will increase for 2021 and then for the 2019 and 2020 to $105 from $63. What drug are they on????
    The Limited Edition Proof set up to about $200
    America The Beautiful Silver Proof Set - $60
    America The Beautiful 5 ounce round - $230
    ASE Proof $73
    Presidential Silver Medals $65
    Yet, the Mint has done very little except endless reasearch to make the cost of the production of circulating business strike coinage stop running in the red. The Mint is also proposing having more commemorative Quarters to add further expense to their operations hoping these will be popular which they will NOT be.
    If you want to lodge a complaint here is the contact person given on the Federal Register notice for the price gouging the US Mint is doing - Derrick Griffin, Marketing Specialist, Sales and Marketing; United States Mint; 801 9th Street NW, Washington, DC 20220; or call 202-354-7579.

    Great video. I think a lot of US dealers send world silver coins out to refiners. Any ideas on how to buy these bulk lots before they are sent? Presumably one could beat the refiner’s price and still do very well.

      Very true. I'm not sure how to do that, though - maybe get in touch with your local dealers.

      Just generally looking at eBay listings and Heritage auctions - they are less solid for these coins than others, however.

    • @TreasureTownCoins

      I actually don't know the name.. I think it's an industrial silver cleaner I was given by a dealer friend. Only used it on the Canadian coins, though.

    Last week I purchased an 1865 two-cent piece that was enclosed in a ICG holder, the first coin I've ever bought--after a lifetime of collecting coins!--in one of those holders. I'm not fond of them; to me, this all is so much hyperbole that really doesn't add any value to a coin. That it was in an ICG holder was a surprise to me. I paid $14 for it. According to ICG, it grades at F12, which I assume is fine. If I were to grade it myself, I wouldn't grade it any higher than VG, because the WE in IN GOD WE TRUST is discernible, but pretty weak. Does anyone think I'll ruin something if I just take it out of the plastic holder and store it the same way I keep my other coins (Dansco albums)?

    • @frank-ui4bu
      @frank-ui4bu 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      By the way, wouldn't that have cost someone more than the coin is worth, to have it graded?

    • @TreasureTownCoins
      @TreasureTownCoins  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think for a lower grade it would be fine! Especially if you prefer them that way and are paying under $50.
