The Story of Songkran

The word " #songkran " comes from the Sanskrit word sankranti, which literally means "astrological path", meaning transformation or change. It coincides with the rising of Aries on the astrological chart and the new year of many calendars in Southeast and South Asia taking into account the Buddhist and Hindu calendars.
Thai people believe the water is spiritually purifying: it cleanses you of any misfortune or grievances from the past year, and blesses you with fortune and happiness for the year ahead.
This story of Songkran originated from the Buddhist scriptures of Wat Pho.
