- 10th year doing our projection show and our resident skeletons are running out of ideas for their annual Halloween Show. Luckily Jack Skellington and his friends stop by and save Halloween.

Thank you, Steve! I'm happy you liked it. Yes, with that many characters for 8 minutes, the computer was almost choking on the 150,000+ files it had to manage. But it's all worth it when watching the kids take it all in. These days, most of their entertainment comes from a little screen, so I'm happy to give them something different. 👻 🎃 Now, I'm waiting for you to upload your show!

@HalloweenDan, you don't need a big animation show on your walls right off the bat - you have all the action you need in all your decorations - but a spooky facade will help make a great backdrop to your setup for starters. I mean, really...Just...it's like...what I mean to say is...
Basically, you simultaneously make me want to learn more to progress, AND thrown in the towel. Lol. It's so good I think how awesome it would be to learn that, but it's also so awesome I look at my house and feel like a toddler using a 1987 overhead projector with an Etch-A-Sketch.
The more I learn the more I can truly appreciate the work that goes into these scenes and it's incredible. Thanks so much for continuing to do this. I honestly remember sitting on my couch watching one of your videos with my kids and saying "Should we try this next year?" and they flipped out. I have no idea what I'd be doing September through December if you hadn't posted your videos. Great works as always, and thank you very much for continuing to do these!

Ha ha, you always crack me up, Michael. Thank you so much for the kind words. I really value your opinion on my shows. This year I did choose a path that was more labor extensive because of all the characters, and as you know, I lost a weekend due to the computer giving up on me, so I'm not doing that again. 😀 And you don't have to put your own light under anything, your projections are top notch, and I have no idea how you manage to put out a handful of them so fast! I'll get back to you on the 3D modelling of your house.

Hi @treebs9516. Thank you so much for stopping by and watching. Unfortunately, I don't have the time to sell the projections. To refit them to another house shape is almost like starting completely over, and I barely have the time to make my own show every year.
Maybe when I retire I could look into it, but by then, I'm sure every house has LED walls. 😂

I'm happy you enjoy the projections.I can't really give out the soundtracks, as some of them include copyrighted material, and others have voiceovers I can't share without permission and compensation to the actor. But the music is out there, as is the voiceover guy. I linked to his account on Fiverr in some of the videos. :)

@@Gl1tch_Legion It really depends. Here are some of the factors you need to take into account when deciding on a projector:
1. How much room do you have in front of your house to place the projector? This will decide if you can go with a regular projector (plenty of room), or if you need a projector with a wide angle lens (limited room). The wide angle lens projectors are called "short throw"-projectors, and seem to be what most people use.
2. What color walls does your house have, and how much incoming light from neighbors and street lights do you get? This will decide how powerful the projector needs to be to counter that. The projector's light intensity is measured in ANSI Lumens, and the darker your walls are and the more incoming light you have, the more lumens you need for your projection to stand out.
3. What is your budget? There are projectors in all price ranges, and go from less than $50 for a used projector on eBay to over $100K+ for a professional high end projector.
Personally, I started with a BenQ MX819ST with 3000 lumens I got on eBay for less than $100. This is a short throw projector, as I don't have much room in front of my house. The lumens are on the low side, but my house walls are light colored and I can block most of the incoming light from neighbors and street lights.
I have since beefed up the power a bit, and I'm now using an Optoma ZH406ST laser projector with 4200 lumens. I believe I got that one for around $1500 - also on eBay.
My suggestion is getting something cheap to get some experience, so you don't buy something too expensive before finding out is projection mapping is something for you.
How long does it take you to make this?
Hi @treebs9516. I've done this for the last 10 years, so I have had my share of trial and errors over the years. On the upside, it has considerably cut down on the time it takes me to to make a show now, and although it's hard to put a timeframe on this because I work on it a little here and there after work, I'd say about three weeks. :)

If you're asking how I got the idea to do projection mapping to begin with, then we go back about 10 years, when I saw the celebration of the 100th year anniversary of the Tour De France (bike race) in Paris. They did an awesome show projecting onto the Arc de Triomphe, and I thought it could be cool to try it on my house. If your question was about this year's show, then it was at the beginning of October. I don't really have time to work on my shows until that month. 🎃

Wonderful Halloween show 💯😍🤩🥰!! I'm from Italy and I watch your video with great admiration, because every year you make very original setup. I'd like to make something similar for my neighbors and the kid's of my town, because they have never seen anything like this, but i think it's very hard to reach a result so wonderful like your house. It will remain a dream for me. 😅
