Probably on of the most insightful videos on TH-cam showing how to acquire a Rolex watch from an AD. All these TH-cam videos out there saying AD’s are snobs, you need to trick them into selling you a watch or you need to spend thousands on stuff you don’t want are worthless and not worth watching. Most of the TH-cam videos are put out by people who are not real collectors but resellers that want you to spend double or triple on a watch with them. Tony’s video shows you the attitude and genuine humility you need to get a watch. As Juan says give then a reason to petition management for you. As always great video Tony.
Great video Tony. I watch a fair few watch u tubers. And for getting watches from the AD you seem to be the most successful. Most of them can not even go into an AD and most have never got a Rolex from the AD all grey market. And these u tubers are giving advice how to buy a Rolex from the AD but they have never got a Rolex retail.😃 uk it’s difficult to get Rolex even with a relationship with the AD. It seems you have to wait years for any model.
Thanks man! I know UK is more difficult for some reason. But, I do have a lot of viewers there who are still able to get them. Most likely supply and demand issue. But, that’s everywhere. I think there is a lot of luck with what sales rep you get as well. Best of luck. 🤙🤙
Tony, That was very interesting and informative. Juan is a good dude. I think AD’s come in all shapes and sizes, some good some not so good. I can only relate to my experiences here in Scotland. I have a great relationship with two AD’s in two different cities. One is a small family business the other a very large organisation. They are both great to deal with and treat me with respect and it is an enjoyable experience every time I visit. There is no pressure selling to buy anything and I have purchased an Explorer 36, Datejust 41 and a 41 Sub all watches I asked to be considered for. Maximum wait about 8 weeks for each watch. I am not intending purchasing anything else. I am an ordinary guy, retired, dress casual and like rock music from 70/80. I treat people I meet as I would like to be treated. Maybe that’s the answer. Another Q and A in the future with Juan would be good. I think after this video he may see a large increase in his customer base. Take care and I am away to listen to some Saxon and Montrose while I do my chores.
Yeah man. I think there is a lot of luck when you meet the right sales associate. And Luis was just one of my viewers I met twice at Bhindi. We just became friends now. All good. 😊😊🤙🤙
So cool of the three of you to take time to do this video! Juan = 😁, Juan’s rootbeer = 😍, Luis’ Explorer = 😊, and you’re at the place that sells the best tacos in LA!!! Great video!
I hope Luis will let you film the trip to Bindi after he gets the call, the unveiling, and his reactions afterwards. Would be so great to capture those moments.
Great video. Luis is building a solid collection of individual and interesting watches. Juan seems like the perfect AD to help build a great collection in a chill and friendly way.
thank you for taking us along. Ok, so i wish it were longer and some of the questions I would love to know if and when you ever do a follow up...where did you guys eat? looks good. In Glendale or Burbank? How did Juan get into watch sales and what kind of training does Rolex require? Do each of the brands require specific training/familiarization before staff can sell/represent the brand? There seems to be a very specific process each time I get one in the way it is presented, fitted etc. How do they determine flippers? I know they can't catch them all or else the gray wouldn't be full of new watches but I am sure they see a lot of people and learn over time to screen. Always curious how things work behind the curtain. Thanks again for taking the time.
Your channel is going great mate! Great to know it’s not so impossible to get a rolex from an AD. Luis’ case in point with an Explorer already. Juan is a super cool guy.
Nice relaxing Q.&A. Tony. Juan and Lewis nice guys in being part of video. Definitely one of your interesting videos. Seriously with Bindhi selection of brands they carry , it shouldn’t be hard to buy at least couple watches before getting your hands on a Rolex🤔
Hey Tony, it was great of those guys to be involved in the video. I wish the ADs near me were like Juan. My local AD is very upfront with the fact you need a spend history. I've just come back off a 3 week holiday so I've plenty of catching up to do! Keep up the good work, you are gaining a bigger loyal fan base.
Hopefully Juan will do more videos with you. It's awesome to hear about the how do's and don'ts straight from an AD. Would be nice to understand what models are "more available".
Hi great video - I followed your advice on visiting AD at Bhindi so I did. Sshe gave me her personal number and said it should not be a problem. Im not exactly sure fif I get a watch but hopeful. I was surprised that (I went on list one year ago) the store was so empty with lots os staff standing around. I was told I didn't qualify for a Sub which didn't surprise me but I was looking for an 40mm explorer. Hoping it works out. I also got the sense that texting was better than in person but might be wrong. Thank you. P.S. I love the fish and chip stores a few stores down the street from that restaurant !!!!!!!
Hey man! That sounds great! I hope you get the watch you asked for! Just follow up periodically. I’m guessing Juan wasn’t working that day. Glad you liked the fish & chip shop. I’ve had it before. 🤙🤙
That’s awesome. Unfortunately, I move around for work too often to build a relationship. All I want is a Polar Explorer II, but many years later and several moves- no AD will let me get one. 😢
It's important when you build a relationship and put your name down or have your sales rep tell you that he will make it happen that you make the purchase, I can honestly say that I could not get a Rolex at retail until I meet mine from NYC, now I own a few from March 2023 onwards. I just received my third Submariner in the new Kermit with the lighter green bezel last week. My advice is put the funds aside so you don't renege.
I agree with Juan, Rolex AD’s are getting more watches in stock and people are getting the calls. Also in a couple of years things will go back to normal and people can walk into an AD and buy Rolex again finally.
You are on a good run with lots of great content. I hope you back is better as you got the shot and you are now dancing in the streets. I am actually planning a trip to the AD tomorrow and hope it goes well. Non serious watch stuff. You have previously said that you should not buy stuff from the AD just to get the spend rate up. However the watch ball might have a different opinion and I would like to ask her, Is the Back Bay 39 or the Pelagos 39 a better buy?. I don't want to let Tony to feel left out so he gets stuck answering the question - Do they actually have Tudor in stock or is it another wait list? For Tony - why are you videos dropping late? they seem to be a day off but maybe its me. Lastly, what's is Tonys favorite Pizza joint?
Excellent video as always, Tony 👏 What are your thoughts on taking a watch purchased grey to your AD for sizing? I just don't think my AD is going to come through, and I don't want to wait ages for the watch I want.
I can answer in my next Q&A? But if you need an answer now, then, yes. You should have no problem taking it to an AD for sizing as long as they have a watchmaker on hand. Even though the sales rep can size them they may be too “busy” but overall you should have no issues.
@talkingtimepieceswithtony Even though I've expressed interest in the model I'm going grey for with this AD? It's just been a while, and I think the chances of them getting me this piece are slim.
@@david.9633 it shouldn’t be an issue, plus it frees up that watch for someone else if it comes in. Not a big deal. But, if you’re not comfortable, any watch place can size it. They are really easy to size if you have the right size screwdriver. But, it shouldn’t be an issue man.
This was a lot to ask from Juan. As a viewer and a collector my AD may not do a interview like this so I would like to thank you Juan. I wish I coulda got a question in. I would have ask why long term customers who have been loyal this year are getting less allocations than previous years. Are the ADs actually trying to get new people the watches or are they just going out the back door?
Regarding this whole situation, and not to these guys specifically, allow me to rant, and please forgive me: I have been in this country for 25 years, and I had to interview for visa, green card, citizenship, law school post grad program, optional practical training, admission to the bar, concealed carry gun permit, global entry CPB program, and more . And now I have to interview with a salesperson (not an AD, not a Rolex representative, just a salesperson ), who most of the time feels empowered and gives me a DMV kind of attitude, in order to be allowed to spend 15k with them?!
That $15k daytona is worth $29k in the open market. Guess why you don't have to "interview" and vet buying a breitling? Buy a lady datejust and find yourself not needing to do the vetting process as well. Let's not dumb down the situation. It's money after all.
Hey Tony.... This is not to be published. Retired LE here from East coast. Visiting LA soon . If possible, can you name a couple local favorite restaurants besides Dino's and Cuco's to visit? Also is the Warner Brothers tour worth the price? Thanks Tony!
Hey man, I think you already published it by posting it. 😂 I think the WB tour is worth checking out. I don’t know what they charge though. Check out the Smoke House restaurant, very old school steak house with a great vibe. Also Bobs Big Boy in Toluca Lake/Burbank is a cool place to go for breakfast or lunch. 🤙🤙
