Neon Genesis Evangelion Toonami Intro

- This is a fan made video (in case you couldn't tell by the last part) where I tried to make a Toonami intro of Neon Genesis Evangelion (AKA "What if NGE was on Toonami?"). IMO, I think I did a very good job around the beginning but whatever.
The DnB (Drum and Bass) song that plays is called Paradise Lost (Last Action Hero) by Doc Scott.
R.I.P Toonami 1997-2008
Oh yeah, I do not own any part of the Evangelion series, Toonami, or the song. I do NOT stand to make any money and etc. In a nutshell, I am just a small guy who is trying to have fun. FUN! Isn't that what TH-cam is suppose to be about, BTW?
Evangelion Toonami Intro Tom anime Shinji Gendo Asuka Neon Genesis Gainax Cartoon Network Misato Katsuragi Rei Ayanami Giant Robot Super Mecha
yeah, it was part of their big robot week, episodes one and to, but they were SEVERELY edited for a tv=Y7 rating.
I wanna know how one edits one of the most brutally dark anime to a TV-Y7.
@@bradleypearl2986 just imagine all of the blood and nudity being cut out, recolored beer cans, that sort of thing all across the first two episodes. there's a more detailed list online that's not too hard to find but that's the gist of it
@@turtlefr0g K, fair enough
@@bradleypearl2986 the description says its fan made. Adult Swim only aired NGE in 2006
@@nicktoonsnetwork2105 Oh. Okay.
This looks like a typical action packed mecha fighting anime lol. Sadly it isn't
Yeah, I did a good job editing this, then. :B
Hard to believe I was using Windows Movie Maker, though lol.
Sweeeet.
Favorite part: "We CAN'T SHUT IT DOWN!" as the camera circles a berserk Eva-01. Sure, the line was used to Large Ham effect against the 11th Angel, but here it is chilling - even frighting. Nice work.
phenomenal fan edit even to this day great work
Yeah, especially since I made this in Windows Movie Studio or whatever. God. It would have been alot faster had I used Vegas.
If it looks convincing enough to almost look like an official Toonami intro, then I believe I've done my job.
Thank you for watching this video!
What if I told you it aired in 2006 and you're 3 years late?
AIO inc.
But that was on [Adult Swim] in 2006. 3 years earlier than that (2003), the first two episodes were aired during Giant Robot Week.
I just made this as a "what if" scenario if they had actually shown the entire series on their block.
@@JLCL01 Why'd they only air the first two episodes?
@@BladeoftheDarkmoon Probably because they wanted to show off Eva for the event, but, you know, it would be difficult to censor the rest of the series, whereas the first two were easier.
@@JLCL01 Yea. That makes sense.
@@JLCL01 how tf did this convo spanned for four years wtf
Bruh, when I first saw this I actually thought it was an actual trailer for NGE on toonami. That is until I went to the description :( because seriously that was a pretty good/convincing trailer m80. :)
To this day, I still can't believe they showed THAT of all shows on Toonami!
Thanks. I'm glad people like this. It encoruages me to do more of these fan made intros.
love it man
That beat is fire though
Thanks. I appreciate that people enjoyed this video.
this feels lika time capsule that i wasn't meant to find
AND HES STILL ACTIVE ON IT???
""it belongs in a museum!"
Other than you and someone else recently, seems like this video is getting more attention.
@@JLCL01 it's really really good
I kinda wanna do flim editing and stuff so this video is kind of a bar I wanna hit eventually
@@thatvirgo Depends what you mean. I was, like, in middle/high school when I made this. With practice, you'll deff get there. Especially if you use something like Vegas or whatnot. I did this with XP-era crappy Movie Maker.
@@JLCL01 I'm like 17 now, and I have a decent track record for valorant frag cams, but I think I'm getting better lol. Filmora 10 has been good to me so far but I'll maybe need to upgrade soon
Good editing skills! I thought it was the real thing lol
its fickin good
Video looks really convincing to me
wow that was very well done
I cannot even begin to describe the level of bricks that were shat upon reading the description and finding out that this was not official. Incredible.
@evaMASS
In one interview with someone who worked at Toonami back around 2001-2003, they actually where considering adding NGE to Toonami. So, maybe it's either Cartoon Network themselves or someone else who wouldn't allow this to air.
Remember, there's a reason why The Midnight Run existed.
Wow, untill I read the disription I thought this really was an intro for Evangelion for the Toonami Giant Robot Week. Good job
amazing fan intro.
Unless we defeat the Angels, we have no future.
Man what a good show about robots that won't make me have an existential crisis
I remember making sure to sneak in the fact that there was more going on underneath in the show. IDK how well I did.
dope af
@miguelspazz16
To most people outside of Japan, that clip is indeed from Robotech. Although in reality, it's actually from one of the climatic episodes in Super Dimension fortress Macross.
@fireandchutes77
Thank you! I love it when people say what their favorite parts were in my works. Yeah, there are a lot of voice clips I got and placed in unrelated scenes; the same way Toonami did with their intros.
I actually didn't intend for that part to actually be frighting. I thought I'd be another cool way to hint the fact that the Evas aren't actually robots So I'm glad you felt that way. :v
This is really well made!
godamn that was badass! you mixed those clips together and put the song on there and shit yourself, cause that was totally like one of those old school toonami intros, fucking awesome
This show is the best anime ever, hands down.
Too bad any kind of airing has seen it edited to futility.
Cool to see people making Toonami videos
Seeing this stuff again almost brings a year to my eyes.....I miss watching Toonami, it was one of my only get always as a kid, life was tough, but I always had Tom to look forward to :) I wish it was still on...
I know im thankful I grew up then I still watch cartoon network though
the sad thing is, my sister and I were actually watching this at 11/12 and 13/14--unedited--so I guess my dad had the same thoughts as Toonami in showing Neon Genesis to young kids hahahahaha
JL? Hey this is schrecklicherwolf, very nice promo with great editing.
@Tokiogrl09
It was on Toonami during their "Giant Robot Week" event they had around 2002-2003, although only two episodes were shown. Also, there should be something online that goes in-depth about what things were edited (e.g. the word "berserk" being left out for some reason).
i loved all the drum and bass they put on toonami
i was listening to it before i even knew what it was lol
@LandingForceMusic I am so glad i read this, at first i dismissed it as an original track for toonami... Doc Scott you say lol cheers, i've Doc Scott Tokyo Dawn on vinyl
Everybody here is lucky. They had this as a child. I'm stuck with Gumball and some kid and a really flexible dob.
This looks so real and professional ^^
EXCELLENT editing.
Funny thing is that the episode that "WE CAN'T SHUT IT DOWN!!!" clip is from is actually related to computers. In it, a microscopic angel (or "angels" just all of them being treated as one being) manages to sneak into Nerv HQ and screw up the main computers so the staff has to try and figure out how to stop it.
Its a gundam hands down because when you hear we cant shut it down you may just think of a computer
you remember I remember it from when I was five
Excellent choice of music. Doc Scott is legendary.
what's the song
That's nice
Fun Fact: It was on Toonami. Giant Robot Week.
If it wasn't for the Gundam Wing part and the official title card, I'd be asking how I missed THIS as a kid.
@HazyShadows
I'm really glad you enjoyed it that much.
I never expected this video to get this much praise. All it is is just an after-result of literal nostalgia, angst, and melancholy after entering school as a freshmen, realizing that I was too young and ignorant to appreciate Toonami. (hur hur)
@BatOtaku13
Under the assumption that kids are namby-pamby twits who can't handle a bit of violence, psychology, or depth without being traumatised, maybe. But, as I said, kids can handle a LOT more than you'd think.
Well, Toonami did air the first two episodes (highly edited of course) on a one-week-only event called Giant Robot Week in late February 2003
Really well done
Funny thing is the first two episodes actually aired on CN and the whole season on AS
This was on Toonami back in the day?! DAMN
I like the girl with the really flexible cat. :B
*slowpoke response*
@Ravenmist66
Yes, I have. The ending parallels Adam and Eve. The TRUE meaning of the show is very clear.
The heart of this show is Shinji and his relationships. His mother, his father, his love interests, the entire show is geared toward identifying his insecurities with the people in his life and how he copes and ultimately overcomes them.
"ending signifies the true aspect of chaos"..What does this mean? what exactly is the TRUE aspect of chaos? This makes no sense.
Huge track by Doc Scott. Big up.
yeah I remember that it looked like a contamination then they shot it with a laser and it had an A.T. field. then Dr. Akagi had to go into the Magi system to improve it where she found her mothers notes and the angel was defeated by a non unanimous vote by the Magi.
i want a megadeath facility!
@Ravenmist66
And I apologize if I offended you.
Just stating an opinion I was asked for, thats all.
Always glad to see fellow NGE fans. Sorry it had to devolve to this.
weird to hear glitchy amen break in a eva edvert
I tried to find a DnB/Jungle track that had fitting chords, back when I made this. It gives it that mysterious/ethereal vibe.
@@JLCL01 yea it gives it that vibe for sure
@LivingInTheCornfield
Only temporary, unless you count the time when they aired all 26 episodes on [Adult Swim] (which was the case with me, although I didn't see the significance of it until around 2008).
@JLCL01
I see.
Two extremes for an either or question. It looks like a fan made video if thats what you mean.
There is a small clip in the beginning that has a Robotech scene which kind of gives it away. Also, Evangelion is an anime about a Neo Dystopia and the music runs counter to that theme IMO (it is upbeat and tight)
The action selections are appropriate though.
You did a damn good job with your intro, I thought is was real! Until you told me otherwise
@IlphaeRenegade
10-12 was the age when I first "watched" NGE. Back then, I didn't got into it because I didn't knew it was actually intellectual and I was more obsessed with Inuyasha *head desk*.
@BatOtaku13
This would have been one the BETTER shows to put on Toonami. Kids can handle a lot more than you think. 'Course, since Toonami's gone, that's neither here nor there.
Thanks. I appreciate comments like yours since it tells me if I did a good job or not.
I tried my best to find which D&B song would fit well and what scenes looked the best.
@kobidobidog
Actually, all religious symbolism (Tree of Sephiroth, the cross, Lance of Longinus etc) were added into the anime to separate it from other anime series at the time (1995). It's even stated by one of the staff at Gainax (the creators of NGE).
Also, fun fact but the Angels (the giant aliens in the series; save for Tabris) were originally called the Apostles in the Japanese version.
@JesterzPlauge
Also, I had chosen that song because of it's name ("Paradise Lost") and it's 90s Jungle style. To make up for the ubeat & tight music, I atleast gave some hints of what the series had in store.
@JLCL01
I believe The Distance was in a NASCAR game, yes.
This video is fucking cool
Thanks, nice to see it still getting some attention so many years later.
Dude, good job. I'm thoroughly impressed. The show wasn't too hard core for toonami, not much was too hard core for that. It's just.... Some things can't go on "kids" television.
really great job! loved it.
Cool
Well if Toonami managed to get two animated Hellboy movies on their program in it's later years, I don't see why NGE couldn't be on there (although End of Evangelion is kind of a different story). Maybe it could of been on the Midnight Run?
Also, thank you for watching!
So I am taking a guess at this but you happen to like this video then, correct.
And seeing as how the later Toonami's (AKA Tom 4) intros and promos began to lose it's charm, this it pretty much like as if you're seeing an unreleased intro of NGE.
@Drocks0
Indeed, and it was unfortunately censored (I can understand the language & maybe the blood but not so much with the beer cans and "berserk").
I never knew this was on Toonami. I honestly never seen it on Toonami. I've seen for the first time on Adult Swim.
I tried my best to find the best DnB song that fitted most with Toonami's soundtrack (most of it sounding Sci-Fi and etc). If you know any DnB songs like the one used here, could you please PM me? Sorry for asking you, btw.
Anyways, I'm really glad people like you enjoyed this video.
But Evangelion did air on Toonami during Giant Robot week.
I was about to say toonami would never allow this shit. this show is mature.
@JLCL01
Hey, I spent my melancholic days brooding and listening to Cake. At least you benefited with something. :D
@JesterzPlauge
I actually didn't mean that..
What I meant was that besides the SDF: Macross clip (I never knowing it was actually that 'til now. Neat) and the obvious things, does the editing of the clips (audio and visual) look profesional? I ask because if possible, I wanted to actually make an intro for Neotoonami.
I didn't realized he was referring to Adventure Time when I last read comments on here. that or it didn't occurred to me at the time.
@HazyShadows
No wait, I thought "Magic Carpet Ride" by Steppenwolf when listening to one of Cake's songs. Apologize
Yeah, but only two episodes. Also, this intro is entirely fan-made by me.
@Omegadge3
Are you referring to clip 0:02-0:07 or clip 0:08-0:10 with the Gundam Wing comment? Because that clip is actually from Super Dimension Fortress Macross (Specifically Ep. 2X-29 "Love Drifts Away").
And I'm glad my video was so good that it actually fooled you for a second. I guess that's what happens when you select a '95-'96 series, get Toonami clips from '99, and then add the right 90s drum n bass music for that perfect Toonami feel.
@BatOtaku13
(OH GAWD! Actual people having a conversation on MY video
@Ravenmist66
which is why we were born with different eyes and minds. People see things differently.
I don't see how an opinion can be humble if its intent is to insinuate something negative by self-comparison. I am sure that is why you felt the need to post yours on an internet forum: because you are humble.
FYI I was asked, MULTIPLE times, for my opinion. If you had taken the time to read the thread, you might have noticed this.
HEY! I LIKE THE KID WITH THE REALLY FLEXIBLE DOG!
yo this is dope
awesome :)
@shayaan2354
Thanks. I, myself, don't really consider it high quality (the ending of the video, for example) but it's very nice to hear that everyone enjoys this.
Anyways, if you know any DnB songs that sound similar to what is used here, please PM me.
@skycover
Thanks! I've been trying to make another fan-made intro (which I gave up doing so due to it having limited episodes on here).
@BatOtaku13
Almost all of those monster/card collection anime series?
But that's my opinion. If some director makes an Evangelion move on that certain genre, I would actually give it more respects.
@HazyShadows
Keep in mind that I'm using a sense of humor similar to the Dead Horse Interchange's.
...The same band who had their songs in some 2003 NASCAR game?
@JLCL01 ohhh so they put it on for giant robot week? i feel toonami should have more sense not to even air the show on a kids network haha even if it was just for 2 episodes. i would like to know what they edited too....
@BlackOasis21
...So?
Did you read the description?
@GeneralArrow
Yes, I already knew that.
@JLCL01 Mmm, I dunno. Good video though! :D
@inuyashavsnaruto im thinking the exact same thing! there is no way they could've censored it for TV-Y7
this anime truly was fantastic and also had one of the worst endings i have ever seen, such a let down to a brilliant series
Sorry, I forgot to read the video description.
