I think Warren and Co. are expecting stagflation. I agree. In that environment, cash is still king. Apple has challenges. Tim Cook is retiring, and China and its long manufacturing chains and threatened tariffs are all issues that must be resolved. Lastly, politics and political instability are coming, and that instability could bleed into growth stocks. Even after all these years, Warren is still a value investor, and cash flow and cash are good things to have on hand. It's been a long time since that's been true, and people forget.
He even said he is not sitting on cash because of a bad market, he is sitting on it because there isn't a good enough place to put it. More than likely thats a bold faced lie. He is sitting on that cash incase there is a downturn in the markets. He will use this time to research undervalued stock and when its price falls dramatically he will use the liquid cash to buy up shitloads of it. Berkshire has the largest cash holdings in the History of Investment anywhere!
He prepares to buy.
If you consider the percentage its inline with buffets normal cash position. Its just that brkb is worth so much now that makes the cash position seem abnormally high but its not. All investors should hold a good 20-30% cash. I personally hold 55%
I think the global liquidity chart is the best indicator of when to buy and sell.
Happy for Warren. Mike from Japan
where does he keep his cash?
After a certain age, you just want to roll around in it
When a person like Buffet makes a move like that, you have to pay attention
Nice level headed data driven presentation
He sold a huge chunk of apple too
Excellent video💪
What if he's selling to give us a buy signal. I bought apple after he offloaded and I have not been unhappy with my investment.
The great question is: was he selling everything before, during or after the market crashes of 2008 and 2019-20? If he sold before and then bought back in later I would think he knows something we mere mortals dont..
I am at the beginning of my "investment journey", planning to put 85K into dividend stocks so that I will be making up to 30% per year in dividend returns. Any advice?
I think Warren and Co. are expecting stagflation. I agree. In that environment, cash is still king. Apple has challenges. Tim Cook is retiring, and China and its long manufacturing chains and threatened tariffs are all issues that must be resolved. Lastly, politics and political instability are coming, and that instability could bleed into growth stocks. Even after all these years, Warren is still a value investor, and cash flow and cash are good things to have on hand. It's been a long time since that's been true, and people forget.
The foreign demand has suffered because the loss of the petro dollar, right?
He even said he is not sitting on cash because of a bad market, he is sitting on it because there isn't a good enough place to put it. More than likely thats a bold faced lie. He is sitting on that cash incase there is a downturn in the markets. He will use this time to research undervalued stock and when its price falls dramatically he will use the liquid cash to buy up shitloads of it. Usually 49 percent of the company so he doesn't actually have to run it. All these money gurus think they have the answer... they don't. Those with piles of cash have a definate advantage of those that don't.
The irrational exuberance of the markets with all QE cash sloshing around should give investors pause.
I feel like I'm the only bear. All I see is "earnings don't matter," "PE doesn't matter," etc. articles and comments. I am also the only person reading the BLS reports and am concerned about the job market. This is THE most insane everyone has been since maybe 1929? Not in my lifetime.
