    The History of the Allegheny Valley Railroad in Oakmont, PA
    This lecture travels through time as it covers the creation of the Allegheny Valley Railroad from Pittsburgh, PA to Buffalo, NY. Through the history Oakmont, this lecture explores life at the turn of the eighteen to nineteen hundreds as American towns were transformed by the discovery of oil in Titusville, Civil War in the Allegheny Valley, the development of railroad stations and a new public transportation system, which would lead America into a brave new century. We invite you to visit the birth of an (or any) American town through the history of the Allegheny Valley Railroads in Oakmont, PA.

    Very interesting. As a child in the 40s smd 50s Dark Hollow was a favorite place to go. I was even attacked by the Dark Hollow Warer Compsny guard dog.

    The father of my my stepdad, Thomas A. Watterson I was for many years the engineer of the "Plummie". The Wattersons lived in Verona and and he would be sent down to the valley with his dad's lunch every day ... sometime he would get a ride in the cab up to the mines and back.
