Understand the concept of tenses

Sir, I have a doubt. When there are two nouns, if we add the- before a noun, it shows that the person is one. Example:-The teacher and writer checked the answer sheets.
If we add the- before the two nouns, it shows that the person is not one. There is another person also. Example:-The principal and the chief minister came to the independence day celebration.
But if we do not add the- in any of the nouns, what does it mean?
Example- You saw teacher and author in the staffroom.
Please clear my doubt sir.

Ye sentence wrong ho jaayega kyunki hame koi n koi article (a/an/the) lagana hi hoga.
Agar mai unhe pahle se jaanta hun to definite article 'the' lagega aur nahi jaanta to indefinite article 'a/an' lagega.

Agar noun singular hai to uske sath article lagana compulsory hai (eske bhi kuchh exception hai but generally sbhi singular noun ke sath article lagana compulsory hai). Plural or uncountable noun ke sath nhi lagta (eske bhi kuchh exception hai but generally plural or uncountable noun ke sath no article).
