I put a Diamond S titanium can on my Rave. It has the same low end bark as your does but is a bit more quiet on the top end, and I have never noticed a drone at any speed I have experienced. Plus the titanium exhaust is lighter. I love my set-up and will run that on any sled I get.
I love the sound but to loud for trail. Your contributing towards closing more trails down it’s all the young kids they love noise and speed I know I used to be one of them and I am older now and I like it quiet and peaceful you can still have all the performance and not all the noise . As people we really know how to mess up a good thing we always push it too far then we pay for it and we cry about it
@Kevin Bushey Yep, younger crowd typically love the louder toys and it is quite typical for people to outgrow it. Bottom line is though that allot of people who are passionate about motorsports enjoy the noise. Snowcross, motorcross, F1, drag racing...people enjoy watching these events in part because of the noise. The purpose of this video was to see if there is a product available that can be a happy medium to satisfy both sides. Although this can was much quieter than a race can I still don't think it is the solution. That being said MBRP also makes a quiet can and I'd be curious how it performs.
I'm picking up a used assault 850. I'm going to put a straightline performance trail can on it. I asked about cans on a Facebook page and got blasted for it lol. Apparently people didn't realize I'd be riding in the middle of nowhere on private property 90% of time. I can see the hate mountain cans get on trails tho. I'll keep my stock can if I ever travel to ride trails.
Either way. I'm sure you know any modification to your exhaust whatsoever is a ticket. Don't give the cops a way to ticket you when you get pulled over. If it's not 100% bone stock OEM, the cops can legally ticket you. EVEN if the aftermarket exhaust makes the sled more quiet, you can get a ticket.
I mean, I knew cops love giving tickets for aftermarket mufflers but I didn’t know there was an actual law stating “no aftermarket mufflers”. I’m no lawyer but that seams odd 🤷🏻♂️ I’ve gotten a ticket for a loud muffler in a car before, ticket was for excessive noise.
Man what a great video. Exactly how I'd do it. I have a jaws rowdy on my mxz 850 now and on trails its unbearable. Love it but not at sustained trail speeds. Just spring ordered a bcx and will get a jaws or mbrp trail can. Thanks again for the video.
Hey Vince mbrp has a can called there quiet can you would love it I have it on my 22 renegade 850 has a little bark at high speed and not annoying at high speeds I think you will be more impressed check it out cheers
@corey brock, I’d definitely be curious to hear that one. MBRP website only has trail and race versions available. Bodywork is a little different on the Lynx chassis.
Oh that makes sense or mbrp hasn’t had to chance to prototype the quiet can on the lynx yet.. still about 6-7lb weight savings on the quiet can I’m hoping it will fit on the gen 5 renegade I’m getting next season
I see you are wearing the Fxr backshift boot. Iam looking into buying a pair. I typically wear a size 8 can you tell me how the fitment is on these boots. Not sure if I should size up or not. Any feedback would be appreciated
Sizing seems to be bang on. I typically wear a 9.5 or 10 in everything. Got the 10 in these and perfect. I do like these boots. I have a gear review video of my entire setup coming out shortly that will include a breakdown of these boots. Thanks for watching.
Your better off being quiet for the good of all people riding on trails because you it makes land owners made but go ahead and mess things up for the rest but don’t complain when they start closing up trails
Thanks @mattie glad you enjoy the content, "Newbs" are what keeps snowmobiling going. Let's try not to be so quick to blame them for anything we don't like about this amazing activity.
You are a great diplomat Vince & appreciate your work…. But, on my 24th sled. I have a great passion & love for the sport as well. As you are a youtube ambassador - you know this topic is messy as you noted in the video. I’ll stand by this. Cans are for newbs - only other newbs think they are cool. Everybody else thinks peeps with cans are immature idiots. There is no valid argument that any cans (trail/race) belong on groomed trails. Period.
Lol, not trying to be diplomatic here. You are right this is a very messy topic. I'm a 40 year old man who's been riding sleds since I was 10 but I guess I'm a "newb" (man I hate that term). I am passionate about all things motorsports. There are MANY reasons I enjoy things with powerful motors and the noise is part of that equation and I need to disagree with "only newbs like the noise". You're gonna tell me that the millions of people that go to watch Snowcross, Motorcross, NHRA drag races, F1....everyone hates the noise? The objective for the video was to see if I could have my cake and eat it too. MBRP claimed that the trail version isn't much louder than stock muffler at trail speeds. I think they missed the mark and ultimately I didn't purchase one for my 23 850 because it was still loud but they do have a "quiet" can that I am still very curious about.
@@BeaverTailToys Love all those motorsports you referenced above 100%. Buut, none of hose are operating on public trails - cackling thru small towns looking for gas. Full disclosure: I was an early adopter of Martin Barkey cans in the late 90's. Installed at least 3 (I remember) on brand new sleds back then. Now I have 30% low range hearing loss in my right ear. I'm sure I pi$$ed off a lot of land owners back in the day. Trying to make amends. How about next time you get the bug to buy a new MBRP can - give me a shout. We can spend the $400 & have a big old steak BBQ, drink some beers & talk sled stories. Money better spent. lol........ mattie out!
@Scott Rocher Yep, I don't think anybody will dispute that you could potentially get a ticket but your HP claim is interesting. Have you compared the 2 on a Dyno?
@@BeaverTailToys My buddy and I had identical Backcountry 850s. I would beat his sled every single time we lined up and he couldnt figure out why. I kept telling him it was the MBRP can. He finally took it off for a trip to Quebec, (as they will tow your sled off the trail with a can) and lo and behold, our 2 sleds ran side by side again. He never put the can back on.
That's very little weight saving for the # of pissed off people who live trail side, go on a diet for a week and save the weight in a healthier way and save yourself a few hundred bucks.
Honest to god,,,,, BEST review I’ve ever seen!!! I will definitely make a point of watching more content from you Vince! Thx
WOW thanks! @travis price, much appreciated. Thanks for subscribing!

@Ian M Nice!! You've got me very intrigued, plus I love titanium exhaust!
Not the can I’m known to sign up for, but the can I stayed for. Great video Vince!!
Haha! Thanks A-Mach!

I have a speedworks full exhaust. Hardly noticeable until the power valves open
On my other sled. The Jaws is loud!
@Cameron Perdue I think a brand comparison video might be in order for next season.
Sled sounds great in both trims but the weight savings is a definite bonus.
Absolutely! The weight savings is definitely underrated.
the MBRP quiet can is much better. Thats Trail Can is a trail closer in SW Ontario.
Some are saying that one is too quiet. I think a comparison video might be in order for next season.

It sound great from going by is it loud sitting on the sled. J’aime le son du silencieux de MBRP.👍🇨🇦💪😎
It definitely can get loud.
Great video skills and very informative!
@W CR Thanks! much appreciated!

By the sounds of it it’s more up your alley and it doesn’t tick off the landowners ☺️

Put the same can on my lynx and love it. Sounds awesome 👌
@Andrew Desimone Awesome!! Love it!

Is this disciple ok on Wisconsin trails or whatever your at , don't want to spend the money for a nice sound & have to remove it
@dennis cossman I'm not familiar with the laws in Wisconsin?
They are illegal in WI
Love the sticker kit!
@Cory Knight, thank you!
One other question your not lynx but by changing the exhaust to this would that void the warranty ?
I mean technically pretty much any modification can void the warranty but I doubt that many dealerships would actually enforce that on a muffler.
I have mbrp can on my 2014 summit x. It’s quiet at low rpms but once it gets up to about 4000-5000 it is so dam loud
Which version of muffler do you have? Race version?
Nice wrap! I usually can't stand them there almost always waaay overdone 👍👍👍
Thanks dude! Much appreciated, I was really happy with how it turned out as well.
I have a ggb on my 800 axys and i have to wear ear plugs. Its stupid loud.
Ear plugs eh! Wow, that’s not good.

Yes I agree that some areas have issues with land owners getting upset with the noise.
The only problem is that these inline twins sound like a dying goose😂😂😂
Hahaha! Never heard that one before. Can't wait for goose killing season to start up again.
SLP cans 👍
Do they make a quiet or trail version?
Your vids are beyond excellent…….that said……
Cans are for newbs. Quick & quiet is the new cool. Throw that thing in the garbage.

I call tell you from experience that the MBRP trail can LOSES HP. And they are 100% illegal in Ontario - you will get a ticket with that can on.

Mbrp is a royal distributing junk pipe.
@russell Huston I’ll check it out for next season 👌🏼

But eating healthy is so expensive as well 🙃
Too loud probably no power gain maybe even a loss in hp. Waist of money
Not a fan of aftermarket market mufflers eh!
