If you remember from both the games and the Japanese version of the show, Mukuro was meant to be far more stoic yet while maintaining the side of her that absolutely loves her sister. Even the show’s English version of her playing Junko is off. Instead of being more of a supermodel type of character, Jamie Marchi turned her into more of a “valley girl” type character because that was the only way her voice would be able to pull that character off. And if you pay attention to when she’s killed in the show as her sister, she completely rewrites the line that would have originally made sense later and replaced it with some BS.

But basically, Ikusaba was a soldier her entire life and Naegi was the first person to ever treat her like a girl. She would eventually fall in love with him and even tried to stop Junko from continuing her plan when she realized her plan for having the class murder each other, included Naegi, but ultimately failed. In Danganronpa IF, a side story of the first Danganronpa. Naegi got a certain item in the game that slowly allowed him to regain his memories after the item shocks him. Because of this, he was able to save Ikusaba from getting stabbed and killed by Junko, unfortunately getting injured in the process. She does her best to treat Naegi despite her lack of medical knowledge all while fighting off the other students who believe her to be a traitor. Eventually Kirigiri convinces then she is innocent and they all work together to defeat Junko. Basically in this route, the end still happens but no one from the first game dies and they are able to defeat Junko and escape the school faster.

0:33 this is a lobotomy. Basically its using a metal rod or stick and putting it in their eye to go up to their brain to change their mental state. People thought this made people “correct” from being not normal but it caused so many problems like development issues, hair loss, etc Since she was resisting torture, she did the lobotomy to change her state of mind since the mind control wasnt working. Hopefull this clears confusion.
Here’s hoping for an IF sequel where she gets the chance. I can see Munakata letting her do work for the Future Foundation on a probationary basis, even if he may want to take her head off. The man may be fanatical, but he’s not stupid enough to waste such a valuable intelligence and military asset against Ultimate Despair.
At first I felt bad for Mukuro since she just dies without us getting to know the real her but after learning what kind of person she was and what she did I'd say she had it coming.

You could say that her ending the world was her way to show her love to them in a kind of messed up way, but it makes sense when you put yourself into her shoes.
Give her some slack. We already knew she wasn't a saint- she joined a mercenary company named after one of the most dangerous monsters in Norse mythology after all. And the only sides of her we saw in the anime as opposed to IF and zero was either the no nonsense professional war machine or abused sister trying to make a despair obsessed twin happy the wrong way. I do wish we had seen the more gentle side of her. It probably wouldn't have been to hard to slip in a two minute clip of her interacting with Makoto. He really brought out the best in her, as again, we see in IF. Ah well, c'est la vie.
It would make an even better story if Mukuro never died, because when they discovered who the mastermind was. They would be questioning why there is two Junko’s. Then Mukuro pulls the wig off and reveals her true identity. And when the despair side lost it could go either ways Junko and Mukuro both doing the ultimate punishment or Mukuro during the trial decides to go to the side of hope. But most likely the ultimate punishment
Unpopular opinion: I love her softer side around her sister. It's sick, it's perfect. A sister abused for life by her own twin sister, becoming her number one follower, she didn't even want to bring despair, she just wants to make Junko happy. Like the Harley Quinn of the anime world.

They.. really did her dirty in the V3 anime huh? This franchise really likes its abusive and unhealthy relationships. Mukuro seems a lot nicer than they make her seem, and I think that because of reactions things. For example, she seems a lot more shy than you would expect from her stereotype. I think she is actually really gentle, but just never got to express it.
I agree with you on the gentle side. She does have a very caring personality, at least for the people she loves very dearly. Namely, her sister and a certain someone who gave her the first genuine smile of her life. But her life spent with Junko and her service with the Fenrir Mercenary Corps led to a rather underdeveloped sense of empathy and a definite soldiers mentality. People who've been raised from a young age as soldiers tend to think of people in three distinct categories and react accordingly to each one. If the person is your superior officer, they are to be obeyed without question and at any cost. If the person is in your squad, you are to lay down your life to protect them. And if the person is a threat to you, your mission, or the above persons, God help them.

Mukuro seems a lot nicer than they make her seem, and I think that because of reactions things.
For example, she seems a lot more shy than you would expect from her stereotype. I think she is actually really gentle, but just never got to express it.
I agree with you on the gentle side. She does have a very caring personality, at least for the people she loves very dearly. Namely, her sister and a certain someone who gave her the first genuine smile of her life. But her life spent with Junko and her service with the Fenrir Mercenary Corps led to a rather underdeveloped sense of empathy and a definite soldiers mentality. People who've been raised from a young age as soldiers tend to think of people in three distinct categories and react accordingly to each one. If the person is your superior officer, they are to be obeyed without question and at any cost. If the person is in your squad, you are to lay down your life to protect them. And if the person is a threat to you, your mission, or the above persons, God help them.
