Water plays an important role with EXO, and especially during this world tour, because they built a whole section of the stage that has a giant rain machine and a moat so they wanted to get a lot of use out of it. But water also plays an important role in everything EXO does because Suho's superpower is the ability to control water and that is where he gets his strength from. if you notice during "White Noise," right before it starts raining you see Suho raise his hand above his head. Suho has the power to control water so he is the one who turns the rain on and off. Then a minute later -- during the same song -- if the camera work for their Seoul concert was better, you would see Baekhyun raise is hand in the air and the lights turn off and a spotlight turns on above him. (Its much more obvious in their Japanese concert footage of "White Noise." They focused much better on the members in the Japanese concert DVD.) Baekhyun has the power to control light so he is the one to turn the lights off and on. And during "Thunder" the first person they focus on is Chen, he has the power of thunder, so he is the one to control the thunder during that song, and where there is thunder that means there is lighting as well, so Chen has the power of thunder and lighting and because of that he can control electricity.
As you can see everything EXO does has something to do with their origin story and their powers. You will see in future performances other examples of the members using their powers as well. For example, when there is fire elements you will see them focus on Chanyeol because he controls fire and when they sing about snow or winter you will see Xiumin because he controls snow/ice/frost, etc. Everything EXO does has something to do with their storyline including their live performances and even some of their choreography. For example, the choreography for their song "Monster" has elements of several of the members using their powers within the dance.
You should watch a video called EXO's Superpowers Introduction . Its a good example of how the members use their powers in everything they do, even in ways you might not realize, until someone points it out. th-cam.com/video/RLStAMji4CA/w-d-xo.html Once you start to pay attention to the minute details, you will notice nods to their storyline and their powers in everything they do. Sometimes its more obvious then others, but its always there.
Milinda Wilson, you are my favorite EXO-L and one of the best persons I know. I love people who pay attention to reasons, and back stories. You do that and always take your time to provide information.
Exo has never been just a boy band. They have a great, lovely, and well produced discography. They have looks. They are nice. They’ve been working their cute butts off to deliver the best. They have an incredible chemistry that made us believe they are real family. These are all true and captivating for fans which are mostly teens and very young girls. The thing I believe will be appreciated by time is the mythology and the execution of that story through everything all along; concert/tour names, staging, lyrics, costumes, the VCRs, ... this is the best ever group project planned and executed, and became real much better than the planning.
I wish someday a 6 hours documentary would me made.

"Playboy" was one of numerous songs that was wrote and composed by Jonghyun, the main vocalist of SHINee, which he gave to other artists, such as EXO, Taemin, IU and Lee Hi, etc.. If you know Jonghyun's R&B style and sound you will probably be able to hear him in this song. This is such a Jonghyun song. If you ever want to hear what the song originally sounded like, you should look up Jonghyun singing it. Jonghyun's version of "Playboy" has even more of that smooth R&B style and sound. He was really a master when it comes to creating music. Jonghyun was one of the only artists under SM Entertainment who was given full artistic control over all of his work, as well as song choices for SHINee, because SM knew that if Jonghyun was involved then the song would be a hit.

If you haven't already, you should consider reacting to some of SHINee's work. SHINee are known even more for their amazing live vocals then EXO. The members of SHINee and EXO are all about the same age and most of them entered SM about the same time and they all were in the same trainee classes before they debuted, but SHINee debuted almost 5 years before EXO so that just goes to show you what kind of talent SHINee has. And the members of SHINee were actually mentors to a lot of the EXO members. SHINee helped coach several of the EXO members as part of their vocal training. Did you know that Suho was originally training to become a member of SHINee? But right before SHINee was to debut he injured his knee and had to sit out for a while. So, SM decided to debut SHINee without Kim JunMyeo. So Suho had to wait 5 more years before he was able to debut as a member of EXO instead. He trained for 7 years in total before his debut. However, I think it worked out for the best, because if he hadn't been injured, he never would have become the leader of EXO,, and as a member of SHINee he wouldn't have been the leader. As the members of EXO say, Suho was born to be a leader and he is super smart. They say he could even be president some day if he wanted to. :D
Also, did you know, that Kai and Taemin are best friends? Taemin is the youngest member of SHINee and he is also one of the BEST dancers in the industry. Kai and Taemin are the same age and they both entered SM Entertainment as trainees around the same time (at about age 12), they were in the same trainee classes together and they went to school together. Taemin and Kai are so similar in looks, personality, dance styles, family background, etc. that, at times, people say they must be twins. (If you saw some of their old pictures together when they were younger they really do look like they could be twins.) They are so much alike they even have some of the same nicknames..
