I’m so curious how it will sound with a Stratocaster! I’ve been obsessed with tool for 4 month and think imgonna do covers on the street, but with a fender strat. Mine has that visceral tool vibe 100%, a middle ground between bass and guitar
Thanks for posting this, Question: I have a tone dialed that I think is really close, but I'm having issues with any riff involving an open D drone. (The best example of this kind of riff in a song would be the final part of Invincible at 10:50. Melody notes on the A string accompanied by the open low D string) When I play this riff, the low D gets very muddy, fuzzy, loud, and drowns out the A string melody really badly. It's worse the further I get from the D octave on the A string. Rolling off bass EQ doesn't seem to help, and reducing amp gain removes the crunchy tone altogether (I have it dialed just to the point of breakup and fuzz) I'm using the Neural DSP plugin for the Soldano SLO-100, but I think the issue is with how it's dialed in more than the particular quality of the amp. Any perspective?
Interesting issue to have. I have to say the drop D will always make the D more floppy as it is tuned lower than the other strings. I think Adam counters this with the way he picks. His attack on the string is a slice over the D and pick harder on the A. Experiment with that. Cause sometimes my open D can sound floppy and other times crisp and raw. The amp is always tough to dial in. Mids at full help. And Adam plays with less gain and more volume. He also relies on the Marshall Superbass for the balls to the tone. Let me know if any of that is helpful
@@gavinstorkey675 Hey thanks! That's very helpful. What's got me hooked on this puzzle is how nuanced the technique can be, so I really appreciate that tip about the picking. I'll try it out. If the D still warbles out of tune I might use a thicker one and set the guitar up to stay in Drop. Thanks for the reply, back to the forest of knobs I go

Awesome though I feel that this level of equipment demands a better recording setup than an iPhone.
@FryxUr nobody is complaining, it’s just counterproductive to display a expensive sound with an inexpensive microphone
Adam Jones called, he wants his tone back
Jkjk, well done dude

20 plus year Tool fan here. Absolutely nailed it
Now take the audio from the microphones and upload it into a mp4 so we get better sound quality
Its a tad bit off from Adam Jones, but still a different killer tone. Actually all 3 at the end was the closest and spot on.
That Diesel sounded the best
Line 6 community has great tones for Tool.
Sounds nice.....
Your neighbours are so lucky!
What song is the first riff from?
Cold and Ugly from their First EP Opiate 🤘🏻
@@gavinstorkey675Yeah, to know that you gotta be AN OGT! BACK IN 92! WITH THE FIRST EP!
What are the settings for each amp if I may ask?
No worries. Marshall is the standard AJ setting u can find with a google search. And so is the VH4. The Rivera is harder to explain

Yeah I did… this video is closest to the Tool tone
I would love if you can sub to my second channel mr broccoli at www.youtube.com/@MrBroccoli2.0
I like the Rivera better than the Diessel
