So tutorial about drifting that doesn't explain how to drift? I just crash on every corner, and came looking for tutorial on how to use the controller to stay on track..
for drifting you want to be in your vehicles powerband when you engage your drift, aka within gears 2-4 depending on the turn, how you start it is from either handbrake fluttering or tapping your brakes and steering hard to shift the vehicles mass to cause loss of traction in the rear tyres, you want to have your vehicle set for a wide drift angle as a narrow drift angle looks weird and doesnt feel right, if you're coming to a left turn where you position your car depends how you will take the corner from when you initiate the drift to where you reach the apex of your drift and hit the apex of the corner you'll have to practice a course so you can understand what position itiations work best for the different types of corner. A good car helps too, the 370z is by far the best car ive drifted in but ive heard the huracan is the best?
This taught me absolutely NOTHING. I need to learn how to keep a drift going, I can never keep it going long enough to complete a turn without going into the dirt or spinning out of control!
Honestly the drifting in this game came so insanely natural to me. I'm surprised people are having issues doing fluid drifs around entire bends/corners.
you can also use the NOS to help with not hitting the walls while trying to chain your drifts. A slight purge of the NOS can help drastically in those moments when you are getting to close to a wall with out ending your drift.
Nicole B. there is a big variety of cars in the same classes that wont out do eachother. You can actually explore cars without worrying about not experiencing more cars. Plus you have to have a car for each class Sprint Drift Drag Dirt Runner
That's because it's a FREAKING ARCADE GAME! It's suposse to be fun and easy, not simulation and extremely real! Really, why can't people understand this? That's the way need for speed has to be! Arcade!
I don't know if you need this information, 2 years later but: Just tap the brake. You don't need to brake hard enough to the point of being too slow for the drift
Best cars for Speedlist: Volkswagen Beetle - Runner Lv.399 Lamborgini Huracan - Drift Lv.399 1965 Ford Mustang - Offroad Lv.399 You can use Koenigsegg Regera - Race Lv.399 if you have it and its also faster.
the physics look so whack, like every drift car is AWD, the wheels are completely straight when you're drifting and there is 0 counter steer, its just brake and turn
RishabhOne just Cuz it's not a simulator doesn't mean it shouldn't have any counter steer. I was actually one of those defending the physics before I played the trial. Now I'm done because they a really terrible. It feels like the car is completely awd. I'm actually really disappointed. Mw 2012 had more realism it terms of the handling, yes it was too drifty but it at least counter steering was possible. Same with mw 2005 underground 2 and almost all other nfs games. Ghost is a new studio so I'll still give them the benefit of the doubt but it doesn't change the fact that the handling model needs MASSIVE imp
Nope because the handling LOOKS bad. The NOS effect looks bad. People are talking while you're driving. That's bad. It's not a carbon copy of Underground 2. The crash cam isn't off by default. Not enough customization. Just some of the stupid shit I've read.
I'm still having hard time to drift period. Are you holding or tapping the brake, prior to the turn or while turning? I can't keep my car on the road when drifting either cause says do a hard turn and well that just oversteers for me.
Everyone here getting technical, I just use the brake for a split second, then hand brake for a split second and hold down the direction hard. Fucking easy, hell with a drift car you mightn't even bother with the brakes!
Iceman_Nightmare This is an arcade game. And yes it is drifting but it’s called four wheel drifting because I actually tried it on my A class Evo 6 in FM4
no such thing as 4wd drifting - thats classed as powersliding, only a rwd car with a locked or LDS can drift - the definition of drifting is where the car enters a state of oversteer due to excessive loss of traction in the REAR wheels and countersteered by the FRONT wheels.
that doesnt make it any more or less drifting though, understeer is just a characteristic of a bad handling setup, rwd drift cars understeer too, I should know - my own s14 drift car (real life, not make believe by the way) suffered from it before I had it set up properly. Drivetrain determines wether its a drift car or not, and 4wd cars are NOT drift cars and I honestly dont care what anyone on the internet says because ive been to an absolute fuckton of events, track days and drift days, seen plenty of drift cars in my time but wierdly never seen a 4wd one, hmmmmmmm
I beat the first drift mission in xbos s. 1st. Put the car in manual mode 2nd never stop the car 3 never touch hand break 4 in the corners with good speed turn left or right without stopping the car and that’s it
Actually even in 2015 if you drift you do lose speed, the game just doesn't make you feel the speed going down, but just look at the speedometer and you see the speed fall quickly in the start of a drift.
three tree try to practice the drift but use the lamborgini huracan because that car is top 1 but you can upgrade until 399. Then if you practice is good then your points will go up.
AdamPhy 21 i don't mean the speed itself, because that's clear to see. I mean the feeling itself, like the crew for example feels like the car is struggling to gain speed while you clearly see on the speedometer that the car is accelerating pretty fast. Im also curious how this feels for drag and normal races, just the feelin in general, not just drifting with the slow cars
I thought the same seeing the gameplays, but after I played it in Origin Acess,it just looks slow in the videos,in the actual game you don't really want to NOS all the time. But obviously, the tier 1 cars are pretty slow

The drift challenges in nfs payback is an absolute shame, i find this licence cool until this game... not to mention how pity the story was... I ll never buy an nfs game again
Anyone else that’s played the trial, has it been noticed that the drift class wants to pull left or right even when you have the intention of going straight? Is the car meant to handle like that because of the class? If so, that’s extremely irritating when going through traffic only to be suddenly turned into the backend of a car.
Dashawn Grigsby not really, I remember getting 100 000+ points on a lap, drifting was actually easy on underground2.. I think underground has the best drift physics of the entire series
as you can see in the video on how he drift when the car is returning its position he press turn to make long drifts and staying at the corner when going to drift
The city looks like an upgraded Palmont city very alive and colorful at night and soo far the story looks good cheesy and based on the previews the microtransactions are under control. Not goona lie but i miss the freeroam cops even if they try to keep the city alive other than that looks like a solid step forward.
After a few hours of doing it completely the wrong way (using the handbrake, fuck the handbrake)... Its actually REALLY easy... You just have to press down on the pedel brake (L2 or LT) while still holding the gas, going at at-least medium speed, and then turn lol. *Another quick tip is to switch to the "Action camera"... The camera will pan around to the side of the car when you engage in a drift... Just untill you get the hang of doing it yourself. So if your using the handbrake, dont... Use the pedal brake and u'll instantly notice the difference
