    The cords are short because they want you to sit on the floor and play, like when we were kids. But sitting on the floor at my age will tear my body apart!!

    1:05:55 I think the public Nintendo event in Kansas City that Dan mentions could be the 1990 Nintendo World Championship tour. They toured 30 cities to get local winners to later compete in the finals and Kansas City was one of the cities.

    Hey guys could we get a few more comments on how it's called a quick look but it's actually two hours, don't think we have enough. Obviously it's people who aren't familiar with Giant Bomb but holy shit it's like every other comment

      I'd have a hard time narrowing it down to 30 for a snes classic. so many really great games.

    • @g1nobleteam
      @g1nobleteam 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      DevinAK49 Yes, though if they did I would expect all of these to be on it, Super Mario World, The DKC Trilogy, ALLTP, Super Metroid, FF4 or 6, Secret of Mana, Megaman X, Kirby Super Star, Final Fight (even though 2 or 3 would be better than that weak port), and Contra 3. Though if they do make a Snes classic, they release should extent the controller length, or double the amount of games it can hold to 60.

      I bet if this sells really well, the SNES Classic will make its debut within a year or 2.
      Then the N64 Classic
      And that's it. Gamecube sucked.

    • @wolvie90
      @wolvie90 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      jesusnthedaisychain Gamecube was basically a smash bros machine. Though I have fond memories of Sonic Adventure 2, even though I now recognize it to be terrible.

    Hyperkin are bringing out controller lead extension cords. They are also bringing out conversion cables I believe to use original nes controllers on the mini.

  • @SianaGearz
    @SianaGearz 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Sprite flicker fixing is actually technically possible on most NES titles. The sprite list of the NES allows many more sprites than it can display on any given line, so the NES hardware alternates the display sprites that it will draw during sprite line prefetch in the hblank. Some games will still flicker because they do so in software, and some may glitch in other ways, but generally, an option would have been welcome - they merely needed to test which games work fine with a flicker fix and disable the feature for others in the game manifest. On the other hand, if they actually implemented cycle exact co-emulation of graphics IC and CPU, that might be a bit more difficult, traditional approach is per-line emulation.

    They also screwed up by not including a shortcut button combo to exit a game and select another or access your savestates. If you are going to make an emulator based system you might as well add the things that make them worth using.
    So even if the controllers were 6ft you'd still have to get up to access other games and save states. It would have been so easy to add a B+A+START+SELECT to exit to the menu.

    Anyone complaining about this being a two-hour long 'quick look,' let me put it into perspective: if you can manage to play and beat all 30 NES games featured in this video in under two hours, then you have the right to complain that this isn't a 'quick look.'
    Also, who complains about more content in a video? You should be happy there's such an in-depth look a a product like this available for free anytime you want to watch it.

  • @huldu
    @huldu 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    My only issue with this thing is that they didn't include *all* games from the library or at least allowed the user to add them themselves to the console. Maybe the latter will be possible in the future once they pick that thing apart. It's a really cool thing despite some of the obvious flaws. Personally I think it's well worth the price mostly considering because this *is* a NINTENDO console and not a cheap no name knock off.

    The pie stage was left out of the NES version because of sprite hardware limitations. Too much sprite multiplexing would cause sprites to go invisible, especially on the same horizontal plane. Pies would become invisible and make the game too hard and buggy. There was a NES ROM released around 2012 on the wii with the pie stage. Possibly they fixed the sprite issue on the wii emulation but I don't know, I've never seen it.

      I"m reading that you can buy third party wireless controllers or an extension...its still a problem though cuz the only way to back out to the main menu is to hit the reset button on the console...another odd design choice

    • @thebigmoosy9706
      @thebigmoosy9706 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Two styles of play: Have the NES mini next to you because you want to fondle that reset button a lot. This means you need a really long HDMI and power cable. Since the console is next to you, the controller cord length doesnt matter. Playstyle 2 has you playing the same game for a longer amount of time. No need to hit that reset button every 5 minutes, so the console can sit under the tv or something. In that case you need a really long controller cord. What playstyle do you have? But also: whats cheaper? Extended HDMI and power cords, or an extended controller cord.

    castelvania II is better if you sit down and really learn it. It has a very Zelda II vibe. need to get certain levels and items to progress. the hints are a little too cryptic and also the lack of a map make it difficult. but with resources on the internet or nintendo power and commitment the game is an over looked gem. it is just misunderstood. I would love for someone to make a remake and smooth out some issues that would make it much more "modern playable".
