This ride usually has music on it. But because it was the night of tear down they did not have it set up. My family works out with Reithoffer Shows and know the family personally :)
Most rides don't have anything. Larger and faster rides typically have music and sometimes strobes. Rides dubbed as "music rides" (Himalayas, Breakdance type rides) on the other hand always have music and will usually have strobes and a siren. Rarely you'll see fog effects though. Funny thing is the best ride I've seen around here in terms of atmosphere was a Musik Express at an amusement park of all places. It had fog, strobes, bubble machine, loud music, mic man, and laser lights.
Was just there saturday at the VA. state fair and NO WAY was I getting on that thing!!! I darn nearly fell out of the fireball ride there because the damn harness didn't lock and was held in place only by the safety belt.
Here in the US we have pay-one-price options where one can pay $25 or so and ride all the rides as many times as they want. Because of this rides typically don't do anything special to draw in riders because many people already paid to ride everything. Himalayas are usually the only rides that have strobes, mic man, etc.

I didn't go last year, but I went this year :D
If I'm not mistaken, the "next event" each year is the one near where I live.
Went on it 3x this year.
Got on this yesterday at the state fair in VA. It was called the supernova. It was a lot of fun

I got on it yesterday and never again lol
Puke fest?
It was at the costal empire fair in Savannah Georgia
I went on that ride before
I was thinking the same thing while editing; the ride looks like it's suspended in the sky, especially the first shot. It almost looks fake actually!

When the fair comes to my town, this ride is called the Typhoon
