She could hold a note and do it beautifully. Too many female singers today sing a note, but instead of holding it beautifully, they add unnecessary vocal gymnastics that ruin the purity of the lyrics.
I saw her in concert and she was superb. In every song that she performed, there was a point in the song that would just blow me away; she could go from high to low on a dime. She should have been a huge star.
Maureen WAS a huge star! She was one of the only singers who had more hits from movies than anything else. "The Morning After" from "The Poseidon Adventure" "We May Never Pass This Way Again" from "The Towering Inferno" "Can You Read My Mind" from "Superman" "Halfway Home" from "The Earthling" "Different Worlds" from "Angie"(TV series) Just to name a few. "Halfway Home" happens to be my favorite & the most beautiful.
Believe it or not but she did not make a great deal of money off of those hits; in fact, at one point she had to work at a temp service in the late 1970's!
Great tune by Charlie Fox & the recently late and amazing lyricist Norman Gimbel. Fox & Gimbel originally wrote this tune for Barry Manilow who sang their song "Ready To Take A chance Again" the year before. The duo also wrote "Killing Me Softly" and the Maureen McGovern hit "Different Worlds" from Angie..
I kept a copy of the movie on a VHS just to hear this song. Love it and her beautiful voice. Thanks for posting. They played this movie a few weeks back and now I have it on my DVR....progress
We could have it all kapag tayo ay nagsama -sama at nagkaka-isa.. storm signal no. 3 dito sa amin..malakas ang ulan na may kasamang malakas na hangin. IDOL take care!💚
Very beauty song. Between 90`s and 2000`s decade, we have Celine Dion, almost look like her, with powerful voice and very beauty songs, specially to sing movie theme songs. Listen to "The morning after" (Maureen - from 'The Poseidon Adventures') and "My heat will go on" (Celine - from 'Titanic')...
Maureen's one of the greatest vocalists of all time....and, I love and adore this song. I'm in full agreement with the comment below by Stephen Sponsler...thank you, Stephen.
Played this one in the 80's at a couple of stations after Tom Lewis played it on the old KMOX-FM St. Louis. Snagged a keeper copy of the Warners 45 in '87 at a Goodwill store in West Lafayette, Indiana for a cool quarter. Still have it, along with her 1979 album. Great voice, good Gimbel/Fox song (they had quite a few hits in TV and movies back then), and I still liked her back when she was a blonde. This is also one of the last films for the absolutely adorable Natalie Wood, a talent lost far too soon.
Agreed. The previous year gimbel & fox wrote another great movie theme, “ready to take a chance again” for Barry Manilow. They also wrote “killing me softly”.
PARA QUIEN SABE DE BUENA MÚSICA . ELLA TIENE VOS DE ÁNGEL !!! !! ME RECUERDA EL AÑO 1982 CUANDO MAUREEN MCGOVERN . ESTUVO EN EL FESTIVAL DE VIÑA DEL MAR . SALUDOS DESDE CHILE . PEDRO GACITUA 💝💝💝🙏🙏🙏
Maureen had a way of singing to your heart. When you've broken up with who you thought was the love of your life, its hard to look forward. The words of this song and Maureen's vocalizing give hope you can recover.
Yes, you said everything. I only discovered her only few months ago and already can feel it seems she`s singing directly to us. Do you know when sometimes we only need music, not people around us speaking on our heard, giving moral lessons? So, is this moment, let`s let her talk to us trough her beauty songs. God bless you, Maureen, my little nightingale.
I was just a child when I heard this song for the first time. Since that day I love all the songs of Maureen, and this song is very special for me. Everytime I hear this song and can feel that the time goes back and its wonderful that feeling!
I don't hear Maureen's voice every time I listen to this music. What I always hear is my mom's voice. It's very unfortunate for me that we never had peace when she died. I miss you mom.
nooo...i love this song very much but it makes me cry..maybe one of the choicest songs in my life,,,"oh my gosh...over and over again--i love to listen to it..
this is one of the most favorite song of my mother since she was in high school this is her favorite and one of our families theme song because my father and aunt also like the song i could feel in love again when i heard this song it makes me feel in love and remember my boyfriend love when he left in the philippines last year month of august he left me a dvd and the contents is this song only we could have it all........thanks a lot i hope many people really like this kind of song
Love this song. Want it on CD so bad. Maureen is fantastick. Love her songs from The Poseidon Adventure (Morning After), Towering Inferno (We May Never Love Like This Again) = both academy award winning songs. Plus Can You Read My Mind from Superman and the love theme from Gold.
it feels great to hear this song. bringing me back down memory lane.., it's like picking up the debris of the past and putting it back together again no matter how much time it takes...,
Sarap balikbalikan ang mga kanta na makaluma kay sa makabago.. As in.. Damangdama mo ung skit.. Saya..at sigla ng bawat linys ng kanta.. Lalong lalo na sa nkaranas ng umibig.. Mabigo.. At naiwan.. Sakittt.. Grabee.. Tagus hanggan batuk.
I think that this can pertain to any broken or damaged relationship. Not just marriage... Something said during a hurtful moment...something you said that you wished you could take back. In so many ways this song says let's put things behind us and love each other with God's love, regardless of the brokeness. We can still love and remain friends. I love the words and Maureen singing them. I never heard any one sing it any better.
@@valentenaupton2805, and Halfway Home too, other beauty and touchful song, I`d love to see her singing these songs on her present audiences. Shrivering in 3, 2, 1. Love Maureen!
I first heard this song early 80's and i made it as my favorite and sang it everytime i was singing at our videoke session until now.i love to sing it.
Brings back all the memories of the past... Why oh why sometimes, you only realize that this one thing in life is so special when it is gone forever??? Sometimes because you are hurt so deep that you thought you can never move on, whatever amends or repair is done... So you let go and thought that life will move you along until you realize when you are older that you completely missed the chance of having it all again, memories and love combined...
it brings back memories though both sad and happy moments of my life..indeed you will not know what tomorrow may come and what becomes of you, just live on and do your part. thank you so much for posting
Maureen McGovern is simply awesome! On my wedding day, when both my then fiance now husband and I were exchanging our vows, the song being sung at the background was this - We Could Have it All. It was a such a touching moment. Thanks for sharing and your video just captured the essence of it.
You were Right " We could have it all by now " but you're so kind and think Money is the answer to everything like LOVE,not to me and you found that wrong xxxxxx
One of the greatest singers ever. It is ashamed that so many young people have never heard this woman sing.
She could hold a note and do it beautifully. Too many female singers today sing a note, but instead of holding it beautifully, they add unnecessary vocal gymnastics that ruin the purity of the lyrics.
Hi im skibidi
Yes a brilliant Idea singer and song composer.
I saw her in concert and she was superb. In every song that she performed, there was a point in the song that would just blow me away; she could go from high to low on a dime. She should have been a huge star.
