    Any feedback would be helpful and appreciated. Anything like: what you found useful, what I could have included, what your hiking plans are etc. Thanks!

    Can't believe I found your channel! First, I was looking for the Alpamayo circuit in AllTrails, I saw your comment there. Then I searched the hike in youtube and you have a full in-depth video on it! Planning to do the hike in february 2024, followed by the Huayhuash trek in the same month.

      Hi! Thank you for finding my AllTrails comment and my TH-cam video! Sounds like you have some excellent high elevation hiking plans for next year. I hope everything goes well. My Alpamayo hike was the first of four hiking trips in the Peruvian Andes last July for me. The Alpamayo hike kicked my butt. I was going so slow up some of those passes, but it helped me out for the next three hikes I did. I hope you get to walk with some dogs when you are there. Take care.

      @@CaryMercer Hey there. Sor sure, high elevation is a major challenge! Also, do you think a GPS (like inReach) is necessary for those hikes? Looking forward to your next hiking film. Thanks a lot! Take care

    Entire panorama is breathtaking, Cary!! It’s exhilarating to pass where so few have tread. Your footage is always riveting and this Alpamayo is especially so!! ❤️

      Hey Leslie! Thank you. I was thinking about ending this hike after day two because of being sick and how challenging of a hike that the Alpamayo circuit is, but I'm glad I stuck it out and completed it.

    Que naturaleza ! Amazing and immersive shots, one can feel the peace by looking at it. 4.750m above sea-level .... Thx Cary.

      Thank you so much. Your comment means a lot to mean. I feel like I'm starting to get a little better. I begin my tour du mont blanc loop tomorrow. I'm excited for it. Hoping for mostly good weather.

      @@CaryMercer Enjoy the mont blanc, I know it will be great. I grew up in Italy and I am more familiar with the easter side of the Alps (Dolomites area). Looking forward to your new video!

    So glad you explained the dog 😅 I was so confused about how you suddenly got a new pet out in the wilderness.

      Haha, yeah, it happened on three occasions in those mountains. Still, a pretty unique experience I will remember for a long time. I just wish I would have had more food to share.

    Great video, just wondering how long you would recommend acclimating before the hike

      Thanks. I think two nights in Huaraz would be enough for most. Proper sleep and hydration is important.

    Who's dog is that and where did they come from?!?

    • @CaryMercer
      @CaryMercer  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, there are many dogs in Peru that don't have owners. It is nice seeing some dogs that can go where they want to go, but also, it can be heartbreaking when you see some that are pretty skinny.

    I think some facts about the area or the history of the mountain would be nice at the beginning part of video

      Excellent. Thanks for the feedback. I start the Huayhuash in a few days and I will look to incorporate that into my next video. Thank you.

    What circuit did you like the most and why: the Alpamayo or the Huay Huash? Í´m planning visiting Peru next year and I am not quite sure which of both circuits to choose.

    • @CaryMercer
      @CaryMercer  27 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Can't go wrong with either. Will you do as a self-guided trek? Huayhuash is further from Huaraz. Wasn't challenging getting to the start of huayhuash, but the return journey required some hitchhiking.

    • @robert-anderson-74
      @robert-anderson-74 27 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I will do it on my own, I speak spanisch so it wount be a problem to find the trek I guess. Watching your videos it seems Huayhuash is more turistic and better known, maybe higher in altitude because of the lack of vegetation. Alpamayo instead seems less known, more solitary and with less people. Is it this way?

    • @CaryMercer
      @CaryMercer  27 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@robert-anderson-74 Hey Robert, yes, I think more people do Huayhuash than Alpamayo. I think most do the Santa Cruz trek, which shares some of the same miles as Alpamayo, but yes, for most of the Alpamayo you will find that is more solitary and less people. I found both to be challenging, rewarding treks.

      ¡Hola! Gracias por mirar y comentar. El tipo de vídeo es "caminata silenciosa". No hablo durante la caminata. Yo uso música ambiental.
