Another karate corner video! I was wondering for 3 minutes which movie Exit wounds was but once the Taser battle came on up, I instantly remembered. I wonder who wrote it in, I mean obviously Seagal would have been game for it since he has to establish his mastery and superiority.
Fun fact-- You mentioned in one of these reviews how Seagal likes to hit stuntmen in his films for real to make it "look good". I don't know which of them would have more raw strength (in the scene in the locker room, it's pretty conspicuous that Seagal's not taking off his shirt to do the Taser Challenge, though he is considerably taller than Michael Jai White), but I'm pretty sure that Black Dynamite would be faster.

This was a thing at the time for a short time. When small Jet Li does something like this in the admittedly more absurd Romeo Must Die it's credible. When middle aged tall man Seagal moves like this here, it's like he jumped into a different Joel Silver film, the Matrix.

I recognize so many scenes from this movie. That's because it's filmed in my home city of Calgary! The VP assassination scene was on the Peace Bridge on crowchild trail, right over the Bow River (which is very shallow, as you noticed). And there's multiple shots of Calgary downtown. And I swear some of those scenes are in the Kensington district.
Out of all of Seagals movies, this was the last true attempt at a half decent action movie... Looking at it 20 years later it holds up pretty good. And the fact that every movie Stevens done since has been complete dog shit only heightens his earlier work so.
@@RedEyeReviews I believe he said in an interview that was one of his few moments on wires but he hurt his back there so that could explain him going from a large 50 year old here to obese in a short few years.
This film and Romeo Must Die came out around the same time. I always remember this film for being the last film Seagal made that was halfway good before he became insanely bloated and started setting everything in Eastern Europe whilst he basicly waddles everywhere and mumbles like a stroke victim. Exit Wounds has aged reasonably well but Romeo Must Die comes across as very cheesy and a bit off in its tone.
Damn what a flick, still in the bad but oh so entertaining category and I grew up with this one so it holds a soft spot as well. Love me some McHale's Navy, yes its cheesy as hell, but Bruce Campbell's character alone makes it worth watching. David Alan Grier gives 110% and French Stewart is solid always.
The only thing i liked about this movie was that part of it was shot in Toronto where i live and saw filming in person. Seagal stayed in his trailer and never came out unless his scene was shooting. He never associated with any fans. Nice guy.
So the story goes, Steven seagal was being an ass to the stuntmen (as he's known to do in other films) So Michael Jai White wanted to slap him around a little bit just to get the hubris out of him, so the Isaiah Washington literally had to make sure they did not cross paths during filming. Isaiah Washington literally protected Steven seagal from getting his ass whooped! Steven seagal was a aikido master, anybody who knows about martial arts will tell you aikido is that an offensive style it's purely defensive, it was created by samurai in case they lose their weapon in battle. It's all about using somebody's forward momentum as they come at you to throw them or flip them on the ground, that's basically it. Michael Jai White on the other hand is trained in multiple offensive and defensive arts, Steven segal wouldn't have stood a chance!
"It was a Steven Seagal movie and they said I didn't sound intelligent enough." That's the kind of insult one carries with them till the end. They did Eva Mendes so dirty.
I had no idea I had seen this movie, but I can perfectly remember the scene at the dealership with the Diablo targa and the final scene of the two secondary characters talking about how to wipe their ass
Mate that was incredible, I couldnt stop laughing. As a child I thought Seagal was amazing, now as an adult its just very sad... I have just seen on the thumbnails 'On Deadly Ground' with Michael Cane. I am expecting good things my friends!
@@RedEyeReviews also I wrote wrong, it called "Tiger ON THE beat" not Tiger Beat otherwise you get some unrelated crap about teen magazine or something
I hate to sound repetitive , but this is Steven's last good movie. Enjoyable with decent action set pieces and funny comedy moments. I only like 3 movies of Steven's films. This is one of them.
Poor Michael Jai White. He probably thought being in a Seagal movie was his big comeback apparently not realizing Seagal hadn't been in a decent movie since Under Siege 2: Dark Territory. JK you guys. That movie may be one of the worst things ever. It has Katherine Heigl in it. Need I say more.
Having not watched this movie in a very long time, I have forgotten about the shotgun-belt thing. Chow Yun Fat did something like that in "Tiger on Beat". I wonder if its homage or theft?
You're probably thinking of Cradle to the Grave. Same movie, they just replaced Steven Segal with Jet Lee. I'm not joking. Both damn near the same movie. They both have DMX, Anthony Anderson, even Tom Arnold. Ffs, DMX's brother is even in both...
I'm so glad I paid attention to Segal early in my life. I was looking for places to train in Aikido, and bumped into what is now a lifelong friend. He said it looks good in films and if your attacker is a Samurai. I then went into Muay Thai and trained in Eskrima. Very silly. And that is Michael Jai White, legit martial artist! He would hand Fatty Seagull his ass.
The chase scene and some others were filmed in Hamilton, ON and it was hilarious to see how they used one small stretch of King St over and over and able to see the same Tim Hortons on repeat lol
@RedEye Reviews - McHale's Navy, the t.v. show, is actually pretty funny. For 9 years I lived a block from Steven's L.A. dojo. I never saw Steven, even at his dojo. That's my Steven Seagal story...limited, I know. I have some great aikido stories.
9:25 Ngl. That would fit perfectly in The Matrix. And this movie was released in 2001, so the Matrix was still somewhat fresh in people's minds. I wonder...
The funniest thing about this movie to me as a Detroiter is how bad a stand-in Toronto is for Detroit. Not even getting into the absurdity of someone casually driving a Lambo around there, even downtown.
It's funny I thought I would have commented on this Video being it the reason whyI found your channel. Seagal rolls onto the bridge while the guy in the chopper is swiss cheesing everything on the bridge his car included, as he gets out of the car there's three bullet holes in the door, three bullet holes that should've shattered his femor and his femoral artery, ripped through his side and blew out his left lung, but this guy is unscathed. Seagal powers at its finest!! Also these guys did the 2019 film beyond the law and they both had about equal amounts of screen time (very minimal) and both characters didn't make much sense (I watched it twice to make sure lol)

Love your commentary man 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Thank you!
Nice guy.
no recoil belt gun. that sounds like a call of duty shot before being nerfed😂
4:56 that car is fucking AMAZING btw. There's like literally an inch of car beyond the front wheel! 🤣
anyone else just watching these everyday?
"I could never be a criminal...because my bedtime is 9PM"--LOL
"It was a Steven Seagal movie and they said I didn't sound intelligent enough." That's the kind of insult one carries with them till the end. They did Eva Mendes so dirty.
Hey! McHales Navy is fun. Also, the scene where (spoiler) Jill Hennessy's character dies is great.
Rip DMX one of the best to ever do it.
That Old Spice guy is Michael Jay White
That was.. Michael Jai White? The supposed old spice guy at @3:36
Brilliant review 👏 just watched this film wanted to see somone else's view on it
Thank you so much! So happy you enjoyed it.
8:20 that scene is totally taken from A better tomorrow 2, chow yun fat does a similar shotgun trick
I was wrong about the movie, but chow yun fat has definitely pulled that move on a room of baddies
Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed it :)
reaaaallly need to know Seagal's process of selecting his name for each movie
I really liked the Eva Mendes info, it's cool to hear stuff like that
He bought the car with cash. They wouldn’t check his credit.
That brings up a whole nother set of paperwork for money laundering. Probably including a credit check.
The Belt on Shotgun that DMX idea was probably taken from the movie "Tiger Beat" with Chow Yun fat during the final shootout
Ooooo that's interesting. I might have to check that movie out.
@@RedEyeReviews It old school Chow Yun Fat at his prime before he become disillusioned after his failed career in Hollywood.
@@RedEyeReviews also I wrote wrong, it called "Tiger ON THE beat" not Tiger Beat otherwise you get some unrelated crap about teen magazine or something
@@hanchiman haha thank you for the correction. I would have been very confused
Michael Jai White's an underrated actor. Always enjoyed the stuff I've seen him in, even if its shit.
I actually love this movie lol. Even bought it on my iTunes.
Looks like the detective forgot to spray paint his hair all the way in before making his way onto the set 😂🤣😂🤣
I hate to sound repetitive , but this is Steven's last good movie. Enjoyable with decent action set pieces and funny comedy moments. I only like 3 movies of Steven's films. This is one of them.
To be fair, if he paid cash for a car, there's no need for a credit check. He's not financing anything. Oh my god I am so nitpicky and I apologize!
How do you not know who Black Dynomite is?
Lol I know I know :( I do now
Thank you, for that one, bro.
Omg. SMURF🤣🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
Wasn't the opening for this film originally written for Lethal weapon 4, I think that's why it feels a bit tacked on.
Wow I swear I don’t remember Steven in this movie I thought jet lee came out in this movie
@@whateverwhatever4026 there you go that’s the one I was thinking of.
These are great, so happy this one was filmed in my city
How do you not know who Micheal Jai White is?
5:03 Damn they used the bank robbery music from Heat in this scene
100% the last good Segal movie. Everything after Cradle 2 The Grave is bloated Segal fighting people while sitting down
He wasn’t in that one, was he?
I used to watch McHale's Navy,Sgt. Bilko and Major Payne on repeat.
I get you!
I need to watch the TV show for sure. I loved the old movie and the remake
Awesome review. ❤ Exit Wounds is Seagals last good movie. I really like it.
Bill duke we love you
9:25 Ngl. That would fit perfectly in The Matrix.
And this movie was released in 2001, so the Matrix was still somewhat fresh in people's minds. I wonder...
He launches the Vice President of the United States into basically a creek that’s 3 ft deep with rocks everywhere that’s clear as day lmfao
Eva ,how the hell did they get Eva.....................................
and BILL FUCKING DUKE
I'm so glad you found my channel! Haha Seagal is bullet proof. Problem solved. Beyond the Law, Above the Law, Beside the Law. Seagal is everyone put within the Law lol.
I laughed at how he so easily took out the chopper with a mere handgun. Can anyone name TWO instances of this happening in real life?
@@largol33t1 Two?! Is there even One?!
@@RedEyeReviews I ask for two since there's going to be a so-called "firearms expert" (think: Biden voter) who says it's a "fact" that handguns will knock choppers out of the sky....
Looking forward to seeing McHale's Navy on one of these now
